By far the best brewery and restaurant in the area. We went around 6 before the dinner rush and everything came out in a fast timely manner. The food... the drinks... delicious. It hit hard after a long day of fishing. We had the pickle planks as an appetizer and mmm pickles, fresh dill and chipotle sauce on wood fired bread. Wow flavor! It's basically a pizza cut is strips. For dinner we had the Baja board which is a taco board either chicken or steak and the flavor of the meat was bursting. On the other hand the lone star pizza is a sweet bbq with a twist with a thicker crust which was so fluffy and crunchy. The over 21 drinks are wider in range compared to the other breweries in town and much more flavorful. Overall 10/10 would recommend. We hit the hotel and then ordered take out but Judy and I weren't feeling pizza. I ordered a perfect meal for 2 crunchy carbs w/blackened chicken. Togo was fast. The place was cranking, the outside patios were full I could see when I drove up. Inside was packed. Picked up a 4 Pack of Limited Edition Hefeweizen then paid at the Bar. Let's just say AMAZING! Why do people give this place lower reviews than Kenai River? Who knows. This place is clearly the senior of the Soldatna Breweries. The crowd here is a bit more "mature" than Kenai which is good as we fit in. It's good a cool retro vibe within. And here, there is table service. Also more mature. Generally a great experience with the waitresses who were attentive but busy. Food available is mostly pizzas and the like. The pizzas were very good. One in my group said it was the best pizza he ever had. Of course, he's from OC so opinion might be a bit off They have several beer choices and all of them are distinct to the brewery. Okay I have no idea why this thing doesn't have five stars. We ordered every appetizer that they had left on the menu when we got there 2 hours before they closed. We enjoyed absolutely every single bite of everyone. I would highly recommend the Popeyes! Then we shared pizzas among our group and then ordered every dessert on the menu! We shared all of those as well, the only one I wasn't that impressed with was the one that took a while to cook and it actually just ended up being a pizza crust with some cinnamon apples on it topped with whipped cream and ice cream. This restaurant is a big ol meh from me. It's one of the few places open past 9pm in this area, which I have no idea why restaurants in Alaska in the summertime are not open later to accommodate people out doing things into the night. We typically come here when we are down in Kenai to dip net. The pizza is California style, which is admittedly my least favorite types of pizza, but they do have a Woodfire oven to cook it in. The pizza is super inconsistent in terms of the toppings and flavor. The dough is never crispy like Woodfire pizza should be, which means the pizza is typically undercooked & soggy. In all honesty I'm usually starving when I'm eating here so I probably think the pizza tastes even better than it actually is. They do have good salads and dessert though! The beer here is also pretty unimaginative. It's very standard beer that was innovative when craft beer first started becoming popular in the early 2000's, but in terms of the industry standards now the beer is pretty boring. It's palatable for people who like to drink light lagers such as miller lite & bud lite. I don't think their menu has changed much probably since they've been open. To their credit though the place is always busy so they have no incentive to change anything. Service is always good--staff is kind & friendly. If this restaurant was in Anchorage I doubt if it would have the same success. If Addie Camp was open past 9pm I would eat every single dinner there when I'm in Soldotna. read more

Fabulous service, lots of options for GF and special diet needs! Clean and pleasant- a bit small so plan ahead during busy times. The wait was a bit long for the food (especially with two kids), and the entrees, salads and apps all came at almost the same time so that part could use some work. Kiddo loves his GF pizza, and all of our salads were very generous portions, fresh and delicious. The Baja taco plates were good, but the beef was very salty. The chicken ones were great as long as you added some of the sides- the creamy cilantro dressing was awesome and gave a bit of moisture Ethan was needed and the extra fresh cilantro was great. The tortillas were perfect! Big kid said the root beer was delicious and not too sweet, and his pineapple pizza with Cajun chicken was a hit. The Brewhouse pizza was also good (it's a bit heavy but it's a meat pizza so makes sense) and the Margherita pizza was also delicious. Lots of Olives on the Nacho Libre Salad. Seriously my favorite thing since most places seem to skimp in the olives. The pico was okay. Seemed to lack the flavor or spice that I'd like in a good pico. More garlic and jalapeño? Yes, please. The steak was tiny pieces instead of steak chunks. The chicken came in chunks. BIG chunks. Even so, the salads are the way to go. Both the Caesar and the Nacho were huge for the medium size. So huge they were overflowing and a little hard to eat without spilling to the side. The dressings, while they charge for extra, were plenty big. The dressing on the Nacho was sour cream with taco seasoning. It was tasty and creamy. Lots of great beer options. Malty and sweet seem to be the consistent flavor profile amongst all beer. Which makes them all nice and drinkable. I was a little worried when I saw all the reviews, but this place did not disappoint. Great service. Frequent attention. Tasty food. Good beer. Certainly a great stop. St Elias is from a different era of brewing, and doesn't have seemed to have changed much. The food focus is mainly on pizza. They define it as "Neapolitan style" but, I have to disagree. I always associate this style of pizza with a little bit of nice char on the crust, like the pizzas pictured here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neapolitan_pizza However, the pizza I had did not have this. And looking through all the photos on Yelp, and on their website, I don't see any examples of it. The pizza here is more like the Moose's Tooth formula (zany toppings, and lots of them), but not done anywhere near as well. To me, the pizza here, while decent, is pretty generic. If it wasn't in this brewery, there would be little reason to eat it. The beer is also average. Not a ton of cutting edge stuff going on here with yeast or hops. Focus is too much on sweet malt and not on bright hops, for my palate. And, this brewery is pretty vocal about politics on social media, which is a bit of a turnoff. Just doesn't seem like a work environment or culture I could feel good supporting. If you're heading south on the Kenai, you'd be much better served by a beer stop at Cooper Landing Brewing. read more

The marinated mushrooms are more like jarred mushrooms which was a little off-putting. I think I'd get fresh next time if available. Our pizza was a bit underdone but it was enough for the two of us to share. We also got the Field of Blue salad and after a long day of fishing, decided to make it a large. WOW! They're not kidding when they say it's large. It could easily feed two people with no other food or 3-4 as a side to a pizza. I liked the salad over the pizza which is saying a lot for me. I've been looking for somewhere I could have this pizza I had in California years ago and found I could have it made at St Elias even when it wasn't on the menu! Came in for pizza and beer. Service was crazy slow. We're talking like 2.5-3 hours to get appetizers, pizza and beer. The aps and pizza came out at the seam time which sucked. Beers were already empty, ordered another round and did not get them until we were done eating. Then another 20 minutes to request our bill. We sat outside, and when we arrived it was nice and warm in the sun, but by the time we waited and waited to get our food we were in the shade in the afternoon and it was too cold to be enjoyable outside. For all that I'm only taking off one star, as almost everywhere is short staffed, but it really is up to management to regulate the capacity as needed, and not piss off customers with sub par service. As for the food it was all good. I got a cheeseburger pizza that I would never order again. Thousand island and ground up dill pickles don't work for me on pizza, but that is my bad for not reading the fine print. My wife got a chicken white sauce pizza, awesome. We stopped here for dinner after a day of salmon fishing with our group of about 20 people. The staff got us seated (most of us together) quickly and our waitress (Lindsay) was incredible. She managed to keep our tabs separated by family, brought food out quickly, kept a smile on her face the whole time, and was just a great server (and asset/ambassador for the restaurant). I stopped by here a couple of Sunday nights ago with my father for some drinks and dinner. We arrived to St Elias Brewing right in the middle of their dinner rush and had to wait a couple of minutes. The inside of the restaurant is tall and open with a bar in one corner and seating throughout the rest. It was decorated somewhat oddly in my opinion with a number of stained glass windows (this made sense in relation to the saint in their name) and then a bunch of coffee sacks along the roof. It wasn't like the coffee sacks were local either as most were from the Kauai Coffee Company which I had visited before and my wife, who was clearly on a different trip of her own, had visited earlier in the week. Perhaps I should have asked their significance? Then the side of the restaurant that we were sitting on had a pub like facade with the brewing equipment on the other side. As I often do whenever I visit a new brewery, I decided to go with a flight. A flight of beer at St. Elias consists of all 10 of their brews and so that means I had the Czech Pilsner, Farmers Friend (Ale), Puddle Jumper Pale Ale, Mothers Milk Irish Stout, Williwaw IPA, the CUB (brown ale), strawberry saison, Island Girl (kolsch with red raspberries), El Dorado XPA and a hefeweizen. All of these beers were good representations of their types with my favorites being the IPA and the Island Girl. The IPA (New England style) I enjoyed for its hoppy content while the Island Girl was fun to me. It used a type of beer I generally don't see with fruit with raspberries which gave it some nicely added flavor. Then for dinner here I decided to go with the chicken pesto pizza. The menu describes it as pesto, mozzarella, provolone, chicken, caramelized onions, marinated mushrooms, roasted tomatoes and fresh basil. It actually sounded a lot better on the menu than it looked in my opinion but that's not to say it looked bad. My expectations and portions were just a little different than reality. The pesto on it was decent and the chicken was juicy. I actually ate the tomatoes too which was good since I normally am not a tomato fan. The onions were decent but I wish that they had been caramelized better. Last but certainly not least was the basil which was indeed fresh basil but I am pretty sure was Thai basil instead of Italian basil. Maybe this was on purpose or maybe not but It definitely had that anise like flavor instead of the sweetness that i was expecting. The bottom line for me is that I would come back here again in the future. I enjoyed both the selections of beers as well as their tastes and thought that the pizza was pretty good too. read more
