I have never been so enthusiastic to provide a review for someone. First, the HVAC industries is full of people trying to scam you. Kendall Heating and Air is the exception. They are a small local family run business. I had a blower motor go out in the heat of July. The blower motor was still under warranty so I was looking for someone who could simply file the warranty paper work, get the part, and install it. I called at least 10 HVAC shops in the Matthews/Mint Hill area and they all want $69+ for diagnostics and $350+ just to install the motor. This is for a motor that is installed in less than 15 minutes. Many of the HVAC shops I called didn't want to deal with the warranty and wanted to charge me for the motor ($400) or told me it was no longer under warranty (not true). It is super discouraging that we have so many scammers in our area. Kent at Kendall called me back within 20 minutes of calling him. I told Kent that I troubleshooted the issue myself and walked him through the symptoms. He agreed that it could only be the blower motor and worked with me to get the warranty part ordered. He accomplished all this for less than $100. In my opinion, it wasn't worth his time to help me. The other HVAC shops I called treated me like an idiot and would not take the time to listen to my diagnostics. Kent told me that he was responsible for training HVAC techs at the biggest HVAC company in the area for over a decade. He left the company because many in the HVAC industry do scam people and try to squeeze every dime out of customers. He said he couldn't live with himself and decided to start his own business. FAIR, HONEST, KNOWS his CRAFT, YEARS of EXPRIENCE - EXPERT!... bottom line this guy is the REAL DEAL!!!!! If you call KENT you will NOT regret it! I live in Charlotte NC, this week we have had sustained temps below freezing. Both of my HVAC units went out - yes BOTH. I am electrical engineer with an MBA. I historically FIX everything! Cars, appliances, computers... built my own covered deck , etc. etc. OK play it forward... after two days of being in the attic and crawl space (below freezing temps.) ... I can not fix my units. My wife is like we have to get heat FAST! Both her and I embark upon calling various HVAC companies... I'm being told we are booked and the fastest we can get a tech out is 3-4 days later! Not acceptable when the inside of your house is 55 degrees! My wife came across Kendal Air. Kent came out the same day... diagnosed and fixed BOTH units in within an hour and a half! One unit required a new circuit board and the other needed a condensate trap. The price was ... let's just say .... WOW! My units are 13 years old... so I was expecting someone to come in trying to tell me ALLLLLL the issues and subsequently ALLLL the parts that needed to be replaced... service contract needed... NEW UNIT(s).... yada yada yada blah blah blah! Nope not Kent.. not one word about SELLING me anything except the parts required to get my units running again. Kent came in made a quick assessment... pointed out the problem... told me the repair cost... asked if I wanted to proceed, when I said yes... he was on it! 1.5 hours later I had heat and he was driving OFF! Kendal Air was the 12th (you read that correctly) HVAC company visit that I have had in the past 2 years. Each technician giving me a different diagnosis for the exact same symptoms. Kendal Air was referred by one of my neighbors after a rant that I went on about this issue on our community Facebook page. Jon Saxton came to my home and out of the previous 11 technicians, I genuinely felt that he truly had my best interest. After I explained my ordeal to him, he agreed to do a very thorough inspection of my entire system, and what meant the most to me was that he asked me to come along with him so that I can see what he see and he could explain. I even went into the attic to look at the air handler and to confirm the previous diagnosis from Technician #11 that the evap coils had a leak, which they DID NOT. Thanks to Jon, I found out the evap coils had actually been replaced in 2018, one year before i purchased the home, and after a thorough leak test, no leak was identified. I watched the entire inspection. I sincerely appreciate the honesty & integrity shown to me today by Jon. It doesn't just say a lot about him as a person, but it says a lot about Kendal Air. The verdict was the system was very low on refrigerant, and we finally found the source of the problem. Thank you Jon & Kendal Air. I had a great experience with Kendal Air and the technician Jeremy for routine maintenance on my 3 AC units and one small repair. I will definitely be using them in the future and highly recommend them! Douglas came out at the last minute to help us with a unique issue. There was a very foul smell coming from one of our vents . After pest control noted they would not be able to remove the HVAC ducts to help get rid of what was assumed to be a dead animal in the duct, Kendal Air (technician and woman I spoke to on the phone) was quick to be helpful with the issue, professional, and made the situation humorous. Was able to make it earlier than he had originally estimated. He tried his best to keep the cost reasonable and even went so far as to source a replacement part from a friend within the same day to get us going again.
