I stopped by Kendall Hardware because I was in a pinch and needed to get a stain out of our floor as soon as possible. The floor manufacturer recommended a chemical that is usually found in hardware stores so I asked the employee for it and some rags. He was very kind and went over how to use the product so it doesn't damage my floor. He even walked me over to someone who he felt was more knowledgable about the subject and ran my situation by her. It felt like this was a store full of employees that actually enjoy what they do and as a result, are experts in their field. Safe to say, I was able to return home and get that stain out without damaging the floor or my hands. I've gone back a few times to pick up small things here and there but I have been sold since my first visit. read more

This is a really cute local hardware store. They're a bit small so they don't have absolutely everything a large chain store like Home Depot would but it's always nice to shop local and the staff is really friendly and happy to help. read more

My first trip to Kendall Hardware was great. A neighborhood Hardware store with its own parking out front. I went to check out the plants and found what I needed. The store was very neat and tidy, I was asked by several employees if I needed help, which I appreciated. Every time I go in here and have a question I get exceptional service. You'll never find that at Home Depot or Lowe's.

While smaller than the corporate counterparts, Kendall can really hold its own, and even offer a few unexpected things you won't find in the orange or blue stores. First is sleds. I could not find a basic two person plastic sled anywhere in Columbia. Kendalls had two color options. Additionally, a staff member saw me carrying the sled and trying to figure out what thickness rope would make a good pull - he took me over to a section where he was able to cut and burn (seals the nylon) just the right amount of rope for the pull only charging me 28 cents per foot. They have a clothing department. Think high end construction/hunting/outdoors - but some of it is really well priced (under $30 carhart belts jumped out at me.) They have reclaimed/old wood. If you're into wood working, or need these trunk style slabs its kind of neat they have them. Expensive as anything, but they are there. Otherwise, it's a medium sized hardware store compactly laid out with really helpful friendly staff with competitive prices. My only complaint is that the poor cashiers stand by the door, which swings open to the outside directly. A simple display to block the wind would be nice for them. read more

It's a great convenient hardware store. But the cashiers (two young ladies) are always mean. It doesn't seem like they are there to serve customers. It would appear they were forced to work and very unhappy, focusing on chatting between themselves rather than helping customers to check out items. Kendall Hardware is a lifesaver. When I moved to Clarksville as a single mom, they referred me to a good plumber, electrician and handyman. They had whatever I needed for the house, and if I didn't they ordered it and showed me how to use it. They have never once been stumped by any question I had and I consider them my most important resource in the community. read more

The Do It Best in my experience is less well stocked than ACE branded stores. This one carries a very limited selection of lumber and some other products. They used to have more staff that knew the trades. I've been spending more time at Clark's in recent years. read more

I really wanted to support local hardware stores but the customer service is poor as a result of bad planning, training on new procedures and communication. I waited in line for over 15 minutes at the appropriate social distancing 6ft with a mask. Clerks are coming outside to ask people what they need and go in and check to see if they have the product. The process isn't efficient and they couldn't bother to update their website with the new procedures. Guy drives up walks in front of everyone waiting and the next clerk comes out helps him while those that have been waiting get the joy of waiting for another clerk. read more

Kendall's is great!!! Unfortunately, though, they can't compete directly with the big box stores on things like lumber for large construction orders so they can't cover every project you might have but it's always the first place I go. That said, if you only need a couple 2x4s, some nails, or simply help working out a problem repair, this is the place to go. They have a little bit of everything. But if they don't have it on the shelf they'll special order it for you. Their staff can't be beat!! I'm never there more than a few minutes before someone asks if I need help. If I do need help, and the staff person asking isn't knowledgeable enough to do so, they will find someone who can. If they're not swamped, he/she will stay while I'm being taken care of and learn from the exchange. You can't ask for anything more. This has been the cornerstone of their business since I first walked into the original store almost 30 years ago. They are and always will be the first place I go. It's not just good customer service. It's community service all day every day. read more

The employees are Always friendly and courteous! Because it is a small privately owned business the selection isn't as big as big box stores. But, they save time by being close by. There is always someone nearby to help, load, or advise on products. This is our first stop to get any home improvement supplies! The tool rental center is great! I have lived in Howard County for most of my life and am a frequent shopper at Kendall's Hardware. They have an excellent selection and I like that it is so close to home. If you're one of those people who wants to have a small locally owned business to patronize then this is your place. The service is excellent, they have a lot of knowledgeable, friendly staff, and you can know that your hardware dollars are sticking around in the local community and not going to some multi-national conglomerate. The location is also pretty sweet. Right off the 32 and 108 it's easy to get to without having to endure the nightmare of the Columbia retail crush that seems to be ever present in the area. That being said, if you want a place with 250,000 items and rock bottom prices then this isn't your place. But if your loyalty is worth more than the cheapest piece of Chinese made disposable hardware then consider Kendall Hardware. read more

This is my favorite hardware store and garden center. I stop by at least once a week for work supplies and tools. The staff and always helpful and knowledgeable. My kids love the free popcorn that is usually available, which keeps them busy while I shop. I really like doing business with local businesses that are active in the community. read more

I went looking for something here because when I'd been in a larger hardware store, I'd been frustrated with the service. While Kendall didn't have exactly what I wanted [it was obscure, I grant you], they put forth the effort to try and find it for me, even to the point of calling other stores in the area. Ultimately, I got a slightly simpler version of the item, but the help offered left me feeling content with it. I will definitely come back if I need something while I'm in the area. read more

I love going to Kendall's. The staff is very helpful (you get asked if you need help) and their advice and recommendations on how to solve problems is great. Their team is friendly and it is fun shopping at Kendall's. I had a "small" project I worked on this weekend and every item (plumbing, lighting, baseboard and vanity install, mirror...) all had challenges with my limited tool set and experience. This store is a stalwart of the old Clarksville before all the immigrants moved in, and they don't even pretend to be polite if you are not Caucasian. I have literally said hello to the old ladies at the cash register and had them stare at me blankly. Was horrible in 2017 after you know who won the election, got better in 2021 after you know who lost. But I just went to buy a snow scraper and they are still rude. I'm not supporting this business anymore. Adapt or Go out of business. Also when we moved here in 2015 we asked the local State Farm agent, Emily Kendall, if she wanted to insure the house, and she never got back to us, despite repeated inquiries. Emily Kendall is from the Kendall Hardware family. I'm sorry but they make Zero attempt to hide the fact they don't like "foreigners" in Clarksville. Fine. I encourage the minorities in this community to avoid this business. If they resent our presence, they can do without our money as well. read more

I brought in a 100 year old oval frame with broken glass that needed to be replaced. It couldn't find any store willing to cut the glass because of the difficult shape. Steve at Kendall's was willing to take on the task and did an amazing job for me and quickly. He definitely took care and treasured my piece for me! read more

They have a great selection of even older and more unusual parts for home repairs. In addition the staff is very knowledgable. I was not impressed with their level of customer service. PRO: They answer their phone right away, CON: The owner, Steve, to whom they refer many questions, is very hard to reach. Messages not returned. CON: I was having screening material replaced. I asked about replacing the clips that hold the window in place, he said "it'll be like new." When I p/u the screens, they replaced the clips that had broken but left the original 40-yr-old clips in if they weren't broken. I also had screening replaced on a sliding patio door. The door "slides" on two cheap plastic rollers. One was broken, causing the door to get stuck sometimes. He left that broken roller in, so I had to still go to HD to buy the $6 replacement wheel. We'd never talked about replacing that wheel, so it's not like he fumbled the ball. But for what I paid ($271 to have 8 screens replaced) I definitely would have been positively impressed if I got back those screens and they actually looked new like he said. Seems he could've said, "Hey, I noticed the roller wheel is broke. I can replace it while it's here for only $X extra." I'm not complaining about the price. In fact, I'm thinking the total cost for this project seemed reasonable and would be a PRO in my review. My point is if he'd gone that extra mile I wouldn't have cared about the price and he would have gone a long way toward keeping me as a lifelong customer. The opporrunity to make a good first impression is fleeting. PRO: the job was completed when they said it would be (2 weeks). CON: I struggled to go back and forth to my car three times carrying the screens with one hand in a cast. Would've been nice if someone offered to help. Only 2 customers in the store at the time. The staff here is always quick to make sure you have everything you need, and their prices are (from my own experience) reasonable. It doesn't seem like they have a lot of parking, but I'm still usually able to get a spot right outside the door. I like this place. I went here on a weekday. Not one employee approached me to see if I needed help. There were no employees on the floor except for the cashiers, and there was someone at the rental center that stood behind the desk avoiding the customers that were looking for assistance. One elderly gentlemen asked me for help, I referred him to the rental desk.The store looked messy and needed a serious remodel. First time I walked in here and was treated badly i.e. being followed by couple employees, rudely asked if I was going to purchase something before I had the opportunity to decide for myself I thought maybe it was just me. Today I stopped off in the morning because I was in the area and again was followed around the store, when I brought my purchases to counter and asked if she could bag it,was rudely told there was a fee and a fellow employee joined in. Howard county doesn't charge for bag fees but they do? Ok. Then she asked so are you going to buy it or not as though I was a huge inconvenience to her day. Of course not after the way they treated me. So I walk out of the store. Funny as I walk out, a couple of Caucasian looking gentlemen walk in and it was all Good Morning how are you?(smiles) Will never return again.
