I've passed by Park Hardware many times and it is in close radius of several spots I frequent to/from town. Its location is a bit tricky off a main thoroughfare, and parking could be tight on a busy day. I stopped by to look at their hardware selection today. In search of specific materials, I wanted to see what was available. Easy in and out today, with no interaction with staff near closing time. I visited Park Hardware a few weeks ago, and it was my first time in the store. I was referred there by a competitor to refill my propane tank. My husband sent me to get it refilled--a task I don't normally handle. I hadn't realized the store was right off Ritchie Highway (a road I drive often) and had never noticed it before. I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. The exterior was beautiful: vibrant flowers and an inviting atmosphere. Unfortunately, as soon as I walked in with the empty tank, that positive first impression quickly faded. A friendly young cashier greeted me, and I told her I needed a propane refill. An older woman sitting next to her then barked from behind the counter, "Ma'am, you need to take that tank outside." I immediately complied, but the tone felt unnecessarily scolding. There was no greeting and no explanation, just a reprimand as if I should have already known the rules. As I stepped back outside, a young man came over to take the propane tank to fill it. After waiting a moment, I went back inside to pay to help move the process along. Again, the older woman scolded me and said I couldn't pay until the employee called in with the number of pounds filled. A few minutes later, the tank was filled, I paid, and I was on my way--but the negative experience lingered. The interaction was so rude that I called my husband on the drive home to tell him what happened. Under normal circumstances, I would have browsed and likely purchased something else (the flowers had caught my eye), but the vibe was so unpleasant that I didn't want to spend one more minute--or one more dime--in the store. I'm sharing this because you can't assume customers know your procedures, especially first-time customers. Kindness costs nothing, and a brief explanation would have gone a long way. I hope the customer service approach improves. read more

The service was unacceptable, got a rental machine with almost not gas. Then machine broke a cable so did not work and they said could not do anything until 2 days later. Was on hold for 30 mins to even get to another person to talk with. Now have to wait until tomorrow when they will talk with another person about it. read more

This is a great hardware store and shout out to Rick Miller who went out of his way to help me solve a problem when a replacement part was not available. He was creative in finding a solution and took the time to help me with the solution. This is my new favorite hardware store! read more

This is a wonderful hardware store. There is an overabundance of assistance competent individuals if you need it, they even remember you by first name basis if you go in there just a few times. They have more of a selection of certain items than even Home Depot or Lowes does. Their outdoor section for watering is great they have a huge door selection for locks and Keys and they make copies of keys on site. If you have a question about something such as a sliding door or plumbing problem they know what they're talking about and will even loan you a part to get you out of a jam. It is dog friendly and close to everything in central Severna Park. I wish something like this was closer to Annapolis even know or true value in Annapolis is pretty darn good. read more

I have to give this place a solid 4 stars. It's better than Ace and not Home Despot (which I only visit when I really, really NEED to). The customer service is terrific. The service desk is just past the cash registers on the right-hand side, and there are usually 2 or 3 employees there ready to assist. The stock seems fairly routine, although on my latest visit, they didn't have two items that I wanted. That said, the customer service rep ordered them for me, and I can pick up what I need on Friday. There is a Benjamin Moore paint center in the store -- also a plus. The parking lot is a decent size for a smallish store, and you don't have to walk far to load items into the car. The prices are fair -- though you will pay slightly more. It's definitely worth it to me since I leave a happy customer and not an aggravated one! read more

Extremely friendly staff that is willing to help you out with any questions you may have. Last time I went, some of the employees were talking to a customer whose wife just had a baby to see how things were going. This is the type of store they run, they will help you but also want to be a participating part of the community as well. Kudos for trying to keep that alive! I've also placed a few orders online. There was a minor hiccup with my last order where their system somehow lost my phone number, but we eventually figured it out. They always know immediately where my items are and help me load the heavier things, even if they are busy. read more

I don't know how they stay in business. I have lived in Severna Park for 30 years and had to shop at Clements throughout my time here. EVERY time the staff is typically unpleasant and difficult to deal with over the smallest request. And, their return policy is horrible. Recently I purchased a package of handi-wipes and found they did not contain ethyl alcohol to kill the coronavirus. Not only would they not take them back, they were nasty about it. Telling me I should have seen the sign. As we all know, the information on this type of product is constantly changing and I have found other stores extremely willing to take them back if I have the receipt - which I did here. But this is not the first time I have tried to return something that did not work and they refused and were nasty. It appears they really don't care about their customers. We have been a loyal customer of this store for as many years. Buy day to day needs as well as paint -- lots of stuff every year. I have just has a very bad experience. Needed 50 drawer handles; bought the 25 they had and ordered the other 25. They said they would be in in the next shipment. The first 25 have been installed by our contractor. Clements won't accept a return because I don't have the original wrapping on all 25. They said that the fact that the manufacturer has discontinued in MY problem with the manufacturer. I didn't buy from the manufacturer with the expectation that the others would be forthcoming. They have lost a good customer. We shop local because we expect better service. read more

The thing that stood out to myself as a first time customer,was how I was ignored when I walked in the door.I could assume this would happen if they were busy.There were 4 cars in the parking lot.I walk in I see the cashier on her phone,and the 2 guys adjacent to her also on their phones.If it was not for the service of Michael at the service counter this would have been a 1 star review.Michael knew his plumbing and advised me of things I may need while I was doing my repair.His knowledge is what made this a 2 star review.I will stick with ordering online and just going to the bigger stores to get what I need . read more

I work in Severna Park, and I was looking for a nearby business to go to you get a copy of a house key. I noticed while driving on Ritchie Hwy that there was a hardware store right around the corner that could possibly serve my needs. When I turned down Robinson Rd to get to the parking lot, I immediately noticed that it's difficult to get into, as the traffic from Robinson to Ritchie tends to get pretty busy regardless of the time of day. (NOTE: Make sure that you make the 2nd turn/entrance into the lot-- it's a one-way, and can be awfully treacherous at times if the lot is busy.) Once I made it into the lot, and into the store, I found that the layout was a little cramped, as it looks to be bigger from the outside than it is on the inside. It almost gives it a cramped feel. However, I will say this, for a smaller hardware store, they did appear to have a wide variety of products and services available, which is actually pretty convenient. It was pretty easy to find the station that handled "key making" as the store was small enough on the inside to get a glimpse of everything available. The staff was pretty helpful as well, but they were pretty involved in socializing with one another at the time, so I had to approach them and wait for them to acknowledge me. When I walked up to the counter to have my key cut, the gentleman appeared to know what he was doing, as the only question he had for me was: "How many keys do you need?". So I was sure that there would be no issue. Once he finished, he handed me the original, and put the spare in an envelope, and directed me to the register to check out. Fast forward to me getting home, (p.s., it took entirely too long to get out of the parking lot), and I put the new key into the door, and alas, it didn't work. (*Cue adult tantrum*) So, after all that--the parking wars and the crazy traffic on Robinson Rd/Ritchie Hwy, the new key DID NOT WORK. Trust me, I tried several times, and it did not work. So, repeat all the aforementioned events on the following day, and I went to take my non-working spare key, and requested another copy. They were quick with the service to get another made, for which I was grateful. They didn't charge me for the new one, which was also good, as it was correcting their mistake. I wish I could say that my tale of unfortunate events ends here, however, that is not the case. DAY TWO: KEY #2...got to my door....put the key in...and...KEY #2 also did not work. I then decided to go to another chain hardware store for my key-making needs. read more

Gordon Clement serves the community by selling hardware with included professional advice on any matter remotely related to their business. Unlike the big box home stores that discount large items but gouge you on hardware (I've compared) - Clements offers all items at a reasonable price and you can always get help from a pro. In addition to typical hardware and home supplies, you can get high end knobs and accessories, rent power tools, have glass cut, get a lamp repaired, bring in plumbing problems (or any problem), have paint mixed to match, have a propane hose fabricated, get keys made (mine always work), buy yard supplies or get any other home item you can imagine - if they don't have it in stock, you can order almost anything on line and have it within the week. But somehow their stock is better and easier to access than the big guys'. Efforts to find a piece of hardware that would take hours at a big box store and end in frustration takes minutes at Clements. If it is a difficult problem they'll use a team approach to figure it out. Steve, Greg, Stephanie, Frank, Dan, Faith, Charlotte and the rest of the team clearly take great pride in providing outstanding service to their customers. I normally shop at the big stores like Home Depot. This time, I need a specific part and someone suggested I try Clement Hardware. I'm glad I did. I would have been lost in the big store for hours. If you like customer service, this is the place for you. The guy that helped me was a walking hardware encyclopedia. He would quickly transition from plumbing to electric and back again. He was able to point me to the right part, didn't try and seel me extra parts, and I was in and out in about 10 minutes. I was tempted to look around and poke in the corners, since they have a wide variety of items. When is the last time you saw a box of fly-swatters? Pick up a free calendar on the way out. This reminds me of a mom-and-pop hardware store on steriods. I think the even walk you through minor repairs (how to fix a light fixture, etc) if you ask them. Parking is hit or miss, and getting out of the parking lot can be tough because of the proximity of the stop light. However, you shopping experience should be pleasant enough to make you forget the parking. read more

This is a great neighborhood hardware store. They have a great selection and are reasonably priced. But the best part is you can always find someone in the store who is knowledgeable about the products. They don't try to sell you things you don't want, but if you are not sure what's the best way to finish your project they will aim you in the right direction. read more
