I've been wanting to try this place for awhile, but they'd always be closed! I finally came when they were opened (Wednesday evening! yay!) I ordered the Miso Butterfish at the bento shop. They cook their entree dishes at the main restaurant next door. My order did take a bit longer than intended, but it's ok we're in Hawaii. The container was filled with a large portion of white rice and the miso butterfish. Wished it came with less rice and maybe a side of steamed veggies. The miso butterfish was so good and moist! The bento shop is small. Most people just order takeout. There are a few tables inside and outside! You can order your food online or directly at the shop! There are sooo many options on the menu! It's very overwhelming if you're indecisive like me! haha The owner, Jordan, was so nice and friendly! She gave my friend and I so many items after to take home with us because they were closing for the week!! She gave us bento boxes and sushi rolls, and a lava slushie drink! Thank you Jordan for your kindness and hospitality!! We are so grateful we stumbled upon your shop that evening!

This place is small but mighty . We arrived when the kitchen closed until 4pm. But we were still able to purchase bento boxes. They were very fresh and flavorful! I would go back if we were staying in the areas bit longer. If you are in the area I recommend stopping in. As we were eating so many people were checking to see if they were open and were upset they just missed out. I will be back for sure!

This is, hands down, my favorite place to grab a quick lunch on the island! I always come here during my lunch break and everything is so delicious. Make sure you get there early though because people take all the good ones by 12pm!

We kept trying to pick up bento boxes but they weren't open most of the times we went. We finally managed to get in one afternoon and the choices weren't great. I got a broiled salmon and my daughter chose a cod. My salmon was dry and the whole meal was so-so. Sorry, but I don't know what the hype is all about. Maybe it was an off day?

I've never been to a bento box shop before. Me and my brother have always wanted to. There isn't a bento shop back on the mainland, where we live. My family needed a quick dinner to-go, and happened to hear about Kenichi Bento Box. Kenichi Bento Box is located inside a shopping mall strip. The owner is very sweet, and I loved the decor inside. Prices are reasonable and the boxed bentos are kept warm. You can take your bento outside and eat while enjoying the Hawaii sunshine. The ingredients for each dish is local and fresh. The chicken katsu curry was OK. The chicken was tender and the rice was fluffy. The curry was disappointing though. There's no spice and it was more like gravy. I HATE gravy. I look forward to trying more dishes in the future, IF we come back to Hawaii.

Sapporo beer-battered One fish with the homemade fresh ginger aioli sauce! HOOOOOO brah THE best fish and chips on Kona side! Most people come here for the bentos, but little do they know, that the fish n chips... BRAH! Some people rave about banana bread. And that's cool. But the FISH N CHIPZ....BRAH!!! They come fresh from the kitchen and less than $20. I dream about the fish n chips. Ambience is good cuz can just eat outside and maybe pet a cat and listen to birds. Enjoy the sunshine.

If you are in the area, this is a great option for picking up a to go lunch. Opted for the miso cod which was delicious, and an easy but filling lunch to eat at the airport.

Best meal in town! Amazing flavors, fresh and delicious! Vegas's quality on the big island! If you are a foodie this is your place.

I absolutely love this place. Ended up going multiple times during a 5 day trip. Quick grab and go style bentos that are already warm, so no need to heat up. They also sell futomaki and inari.

Before I get into the food, can I just comment on how tidy and modern this location is? I'm not sure how long the bento side has been open, but it sits in a quaint little space just makai of Kenichi Pacific restaurant (which I am also excited to try) at the Keauhou Shopping Center. I've eaten more than my share of bento growing up, and as a native of Kona (living on O'ahu for most my life), Kenichi's is one of the best by far. In fact, Kona is now home to two of my favorite bento boxes....Teshima's and Kenichi's. Ordered the combo with saba, salmon, nishime, a few sides, and rice three ways. Although the portions looked small, it was surprisingly filling. Everything, I mean EVERYTHING was prepared almost to perfection, especially their nishime (which is not easy to execute). Their curry also packed a ton of flavor! Presentation wise, the bentos are adorbs. The display cases were also very neat, it's like a touch of Japan here in Kona! If you're on the go, the location provides for easy ingress/egress. And to top it all off, the cashier at the front had plenty of aloha. A++! P.S. A word about the branding: love. As a former graphic designer, I fully appreciate their effort in creating a unique identity. It's definitely paying off.

Food is premade, boxed in a plastic container, and placed under a heat lamp. There's vegetables mixed in with the fish/hot food so it's hot wilted vegetables and over cooked cod fish. The sushi didn't look like anything to stop by for. Comparative to grocery store premade sushi. It's good if you're in a rush and just need something quick.

Service was great, the food seems like it was on the brink of being delicious but fell short....not bad but not great.

There isn't a whole lot of seating inside, but we came early so there wasn't any difficulty getting a table. There are fans inside but no A/C, so it wasn't remarkably cooler inside than it was outside but still much nicer than being out in the sun. The waitress gave us a menu and also showed us some specials that were written on a whiteboard in the store. I thought the prices were incredibly fair and would have ordered more food if I was hungrier, but I ended up getting their special rice bowl and my husband ordered a tempura udon. The service was fairly quick and we got some ice water at the dispenser at the front of the store, which was very refreshing. The tempura udon my husband had very flavorful broth and the shrimp tempura was nice and juicy inside. My rice bowl was very substantial and was quick to fill me up. The fish was incredibly fresh, the rice nice and fluffy, and the green onions and seaweed salad were refreshing. The wasabi added a good kick and the ginger was a wonderful palate cleanser in between bites. I had such a lovely time here and the entire kitchen staff bid us goodbye when we left. I would love to come back another time when I have the chance!

The waitress greeted us warmly and got us iced waters and menus to order. I ordered a Dragon roll and my husband ordered a Curry Katsu Bento. The Dragon Roll was incredibly fresh and delicious. The tempura had a nice and crispy breading that paired well with the creamy sauces and avocado that topped the roll. It was a refreshing meal on a hot summer day in Hawaii. The sushi was also beautifully plated with a decorative cherry blossom plant on the side, which I found delightful. My husband though the curry katsu bento was substantial and filling. The dumplings in the bento had a juicy and savory filling, the curry was thick and flavorful, and the katsu was tender. The rice was nice and fluffy. There was so much food in the bento that my husband ended up leaving some of the cabbage salad behind because he was unable to finish it. The service was lovely and the waitress would come in to check on us and refill our waters when she saw they were running low. The inside of the restaurant was nice and peaceful, and it was a lovely way for us to spend our first night on the Big Island. I'd definitely come back someday when I visit again.

To be honest we hesitated going in cus we saw a sign at the door that said their A/C was broken, but girl!!! Am I glad we didn't just get back in the car and drove off... I ordered the spicy garlic shrimp with adobo fried rice and mac salad. My husband ordered the spicy furikake chicken with adobo fried rice and kimchi pickled cucumbers. Every single item was soooooooooo good!!! And we all know Hawaii is packed with delicious and flavorful food... well this by far was our favorite!! The shrimp are huge, the rice was super delicious!!!!! Do yourself a favor and get the pickled cucumbers!!!!! They are life changing! They are probably the most delicious item on their menu! I wish I could find something like them here in vegas... I wish I could order those cucumbers online they are my absolute favorite! And mind you, if there is ever a pickled cucumber on a menu, I get it, so I've had my fair share of cucumbers lol... The girls working there are super sweet and attentive, the chili pepper water they have is also the best of I've had.. we even got a jar to bring back home. My husband usually never goes for chicken plates like that, so the fact that he loved it much meant that indeed everything here is delicious!! So if you are ever on the Big Island, definitely go pay them a visit!

We couldn't believe we were getting ootoro and uni. Everything was so fresh and unbelievably good. 5+++++ stars!!!! It was interesting since it was the strawberry part of a ice cream sandwich with some whipped cream and strawberries. Kiddo loved it! It's rare when you can get quality food at a good price.
