I've been here a couple times with cowboy boots in really worn shape and he's always done such a great job repairing them for great prices !! Wanted to have the leather replaced on a favorite belt in order to reuse a buckle I liked. The leather is cheap and poorly cut/trimmed, and the stitching is crooked for the price of $45. And good luck getting notified when the job is done. read more

My wife asked me to drop off two pairs of her Frye boots to have them repaired. I literally laughed since they were trashed but she said Boris could handle it. Now I work around high end restored cars and when I picked them up I was totally blown away at the level of workmanship that went into "restoring" both pairs of boots. After visiting other shoe shops and hearing that the broken zipper on my favorite Keen boots could only be replaced by the manufacturer ($90 plus S&H), I was overjoyed to learn that Boris could replace the zipper for $35. And while I immediately fell in love with Boris, his shop's cluttered appearance made me worry that I might never see my boot again. But Boris came through -- on time and on budget. Boris is amazing! First, I called yesterday to find out how late he would be open, considering it was Christmas Eve. He had actually closed a few minutes before, but said that he would wait there for me. I took my water-damaged Uggs to be cleaned and reshaped and he told me not to waste my money...he told me to go home and blot them with white vinegar. They look almost new! A couple weeks ago I tried this place out to stretch a pair of riding boots that had tight calves. I used to take my shoes to a place in Wilmette for repairs but it was really pricey and this was only 2 min further so I tried it. SO GLAD I did! I will never go anywhere else. He stretched my tall boots for $15 and did such a good job that I brought him another pair of tall boots which I was going to throw away to see if he could patch the hole in them. He did and it cost my $12! $12!!! That is way less than I was paying at the Wilmette place. Once I find shoes I like I prefer to keep them and maintain them rather than replace them so I will probably be making a lot more trips here in the future. read more

I had two pair of loafers that needed new soles and heals. Boris was able to get the job done in a week! His shop is about the size of a large closet and it looks like a tornado went through the joint...Don't let that bother you one bit. He does excellent work and his prices are VERY fair. I drive quite a distance to go to Kenilworth Shoe Service. But it's worth it. Boris was wonderful. When Carlos took over, I was hoping I would still receive the same great service. Well I have! Carlos has hired some excellent workers to help with repairs. They do really nice work. Carlos also makes it a point to provide the same customer service as Boris did. Although no one can ever replace "Have a good day, my friend", Carlos comes real close. Carlos was still able to give me the same great service. The extra height I needed added on to my son's gym shoe is beautifully done. This is the second shoe I had fixed with Carlos as the owner. The new sole really lasted. In fact, it was the worn sole on the non-adjusted shoe that caused me to buy another pair! And not only that, Carlos saved me a trip. Because I really needed the shoe, he met me on his way home, from the shop, with the repaired shoe. I think we've got another winner here, folks!! read more
