So good! We had another restaurant recommendation, but heard about the blueberry beer and came to try. It did not disappoint, but then some of us were distracted by the Lumberjack Lemonade (also worth the distraction), and decided to stay for food. So glad!!! It was interesting, unique (maple balsamic dressing, blueberry bbq sauce) and every bite delicious. Pesto Flatbread, pulled pork, Mac and cheese (with pulled pork), sweet potato fries (surprisingly amazing), French onion soup reportedly delicious. Service superb (thanks Jess!) and everyone so friendly. If I am ever around here again I would come straight here. Yummmmmmmmmmmm. Only downside was extremely limited wine selections for my wine drinking friend. Maybe have a couple more options, like Pinot Grisio. read more

I was at the brewery on Sunday, and they were short staffed which would have been fine because we had planned on staying a couple of hours while the kids went swimming in the pool. The staff could not make some of the drinks because there was no bartender. When they did get a bartender, we were ignored for people that he knew for 45-55 minutes. My father, uncle and husband left after an hour of being ignored. One of the owners had come in at this point and apologized for the delay in service. We were comped a round of drinks at this point. This is a beautiful place and the food that we did get was good. It is a shame that they will probably fail due to poor management/training. I will say that I had a large party but there were only 2 other tables with people at them when we got there. It was Riverfest this past weekend so they should have expected a larger lunch crowd and been adequately staffed. I was up their 4th of July weekend and had a much better experience. If employees are blatantly ignoring customers for their friends, you have a big problem. read more

Fell in love the first time I stumbled upon this place. Good food, great atmosphere, giant hot tub and pool - what's not to love?! Recently stayed in one of their "Cozy Cabins" which was affordable, very clean and comfortable. Would tell anyone to come and enjoy this gem!! read more

This is my review based solely on the brewery. We were driving up to Canada and happened to pass by this place. We decided to stop for a drink (we love trying local breweries when traveling). The service was friendly and our bartender was great. She was on top of it! Our fried pickles were delicious and the beer was nice and cold. I fell in love with this lodge and would love to come back after learning that you can take a snow mobile tour here. This is a really cool place for nature and adventure lovers. read more

This is a fantastic place. We were driving to Quebec from Portland and saw this place driving by. Made a U turn and came back. Glad we did. It was 9:30 on a Tuesday. In addition to being a restaurant and bar, it has an outdoor section, several patios, a hot tub and pool. They also have a gift shop and game room, pool table, they do raft trips and rent out ATV's, too!! Probably more, but I digress. The decor is upscale wood cabin. Furniture is heavy wood matching the walls and pillars. I began with a Penebscot Porter. A dark, robust beer that tastes of coffee and chocolate. Perfect breakfast drink! THE FOOD: I ordered a lobster omelette, which comes with home fries and toast. They also put a slice of kiwi and a strawberry on the side. This was one of my favorite omelettes of all time. All that Lobster flavor with cheese and mushroom. Loved it. The home fries were excellent. Toast good. My travel girl also had an omelette and said it was very good. She got a veggie stir fry in place of potatoes, and they were excellent. After eating we walked around and saw the tons of old pictures on the wall, the gift shop area, and outside area. Review of the bar "brewery" nothing else - the beer was mediocre and the food is standard bar fare. Very remote so the only game in the area. Looks like a neat place to stay for a night or two but the "brewery" is very lacking. 2.5 rating. Works for a pit stop and to feed the kids. read more

We're staying down the road for whitewater rafting. This is pretty much the only place to eat. It's a weird place, since it is a combo of a bar, brewery, restaurant, but it has a game room, a pool and hot tub on the deck, and some other open areas. It's bizarre because people walk around the restaurant in dripping bathing suits. Weird surroundings aside, the food is terrible. Unless you're ordering chicken tenders, you're in trouble. Literally 4 of the 5 of us sent their dinners back. Those were the steak tips, which were all gristle and covered with terrible sauce. Mine was bad but it was basically a bowl of pasta in a watery cream sauce with about 5 tiny pieces of sliced (red) chicken. It was the least bad so I ate what I could. The strawberry daiquiris took 20 mins and they were strawberry syrup over big chunks of ice. They need to invest in a new blender. #margaritaville The manager was nice and removed 4 of the dinners from the bill, and everyone ordered chicken tenders, which were fine. Our waitress was also nice. But the food really needs some help. And it's hard to believe, but the beer was bad too. And it is brewed one floor below. read more

This is strictly a beer review. Stopped in on the way to portland. Had no idea this place was on the way. Got a couple of flights, tried all their beers. They were all good with a few standouts. The big mama blueberry, vanilla porter with Jim beam, and octoberfest were fantastic. I left there with a growler of the porter. This place has a ton of other stuff going on and I'm sure the friendly staff won't mind helping you out. BIG respect to the brewers for only having their brew on 8 taps all the time. Bad service.. dirty everywhere and underwhelming food. Plan on at least 45 minutes to get your check. That's on a good day. I have had my last meal here. Keep driving north or south. Such a shame. Restaurant at Northern Outdoors. We had 3 meals here. All were great. Small menu. Burgers were really good. Boneless chicken wings were huge and cooked perfectly. The brewpub helped me too! Service was overall excellent. Liz the bartender, server was the standout. She made my GF a Sangria with prosseco. She loved it. Huge breakfast options too. I got the loaded hashbrowns. While heading twards Canada on the old Canadian Highway we came across the Kennebec Brewery. This really cool Maine Micro-Brewery is located at Northern Outdoors an outdoor recreation mecca offering Rafting Trips as well as resort style lodging. On our trip we had Some Burgers as well as a BLT and of course a Beer Sampler. The Food was fantastic! Great tasting Burgers and really good quality. The Beer Sampler was great as well. Overall this is a great place to stop and grab a bite to eat and hang out for awhile before crossing into Canada. read more

This pub-brewery-restaurant is located at the Northern Outdoors resort where we were staying to whitewater raft. The food was really good as was their beer which is brewed on-site. We enjoyed their VERY hearty breakfasts, selection of wings, and burgers. I especially liked the chicken and quinoa dinner and black and blue salad, both a nice change after days of well-prepared but very filling pub food. Definitely don't miss the beer. Our favorite was the Sled-Head Red but they also had a really good wheat beer and a subtle but tasty blueberry beer, a refreshing summer option. On a Saturday night this place is awesome. We drank and danced. The atmosphere is great and the servers a wicked helpful. The food was really good to. Last week, on a whim, I decided to drive north and take a mini vacation. I ended up at the Northern Outdoors, which is the rafting/snowmobile/camping resort type place this restaurant is located inside of. The whole place is so cozy and warm. Not to mention how beautiful the landscape is outside. My cell phone stopped working about 50 miles before I got there, but that was ok because its right on rt 201 and you really cant get lost because there are not many (or ANY) wrong turns to take. On my solo road trip with no cell I was forced to just take everything in. I stayed in a room at the lodge which I also would give 5 stars and I will be reviewing that in its appropriate place. I decided to sit in the dining room, though you can eat anywhere in the place. They are really laid back about where to eat, as you can order while sitting on the couch or at a table outside or whatever. I opted for the build-a-burger choice. There are tons of options so you can create whatever suits you. I decided to be adventurous and get mac and cheese, fried pickles, local tomato, and sriracha aioli, and smoked gouda on my burger. I choose sweet potato fries as my side. I think it may have been the best burger Ive ever had. I was so full I couldn't try the wings but next time I will :) The whole staff was friendly and professional and the food was excellent. I will definitely be back. I had only one day so I didn't get a chance to do any of the fun activities they had going on up there or try their beer they brew on property. But the prices were reasonable and it was warm and inviting . The town itself is very very small and the people are down to earth. The other guests ranged from large groups of 20 somethings enjoying beer to older couples having a quiet dinner to foreign family's on vacation. It was quite interesting and diverse. I imagine the bar area gets quite full at night since there are many young people. I don't know if they have any music or entertainment but there certainly is plenty of space for it. Oh and there is a huge hot tube outside which closes later then most other places Ive stayed... I'm really excited to come back with a group of friends for a fun weekend. read more

Very disappointed in this place, came here based on reviews. The food was overpriced for what you got, the beer was mediocre, the service was slow and unfriendly, and there was a lot of staff just standing around. We ordered the magic wings as an appetizer which came out 10 minutes after our meal came and were frozen in the middle, the sauce bland. The food itself was overpriced for what we got. I ordered a flight of beer and asked which beers I wanted on it and but it came out a set way even though I was asked which beers I wanted. A table of 10 was sat right on top of us and my wife had to move even though the dining room was practically empty. My tip is to try one of the other locations for cheaper food, better alcohol selection, and friendlier staff. read more
