I usually pass on the kolaches or the sausage rolls that other people bring from the place down the street, I just don't care for them. But today I seen they were from a different place and I was hesitant, but decided to give them a try. And they were good, very good compared to other ones I've tried. I was very disappointed after reading reviews on how great this place is. We stopped by on Sunday morning. They were out of the basic Kolaches, so we opted for the ones with sausage and cheese. GROSS. They were cold and clearly not fresh. We also got the Meltaway item that everyone raves about. Again...NOT GOOD. It was not fresh, hard and just unappealing altogether. I honestly think a lot of the items were leftovers from another day. My children are not picky eaters by any means and they wouldn't even eat it after the first bite. We trashed it. I literally felt like I threw $11 in a trash can. We won't return! Staff was nice, though! read more

Nice little family owned bakery. I was having a hankering for some cream cheese pastries, so I went by this place on the way to work one morning. I'm generally a fan of pastries which use a larger percentage of cream cheese than this place does in each pastry, but the cream cheese was so well done and tasty, and the pastry was so soft, that even using less cream cheese, these really hit the taste buds in the right way. Can't wait to stop in again and try something different from their menu. Definitely recommended. read more

We were driving by and randomly saw the sign for kolaches. We could not be more glad we stopped in today! The owner was charming and funny. He took the time to show us everything they had and and explain in detail each different type of meat kolache. I picked the jalapeño sausage, and my husband got a raspberry. The owner said we had to try the cream cheese, so he gave us two for free. Very sweet Wow - the breading itself is delicious. Not too sweet, but ever so slightly sweet which was a great combo with the jalapeño sausage. We could not have been more appreciative our cream cheese treats after we tried them. They were amazing! I'm 17 weeks pregnant, and have a feeling I'll be craving these sooner than later. So glad we randomly stopped in today! read more

Absolutely wonderful Arlington institution!! The kolaches are pillowy light and soft with fillings that are just sweet enough without being cloying. The Danish meltsaways are such a delight and the cinnamon rolls (I prefer the smaller with cream cheese icing) are likewise divine. I don't know what happened to this place. :( Where's the happy bubbly lady that I remembered buying kolaches from?The lady that helped me today was the definition of frumpy grumpy. She scowled at me when I wanted to buy more food after I had just paid. Usually people are happy to sell more food. :\ There wasn't even a line. Just me and this other guy (he was ahead of me, too). I bought some strawberry and cheese danishes, sausage kolaches and a pecan pull apart. They were ok. Not as great as I remembered. The danishes were lacking in filling and the sausage kolaches were super cold- what's up with that? Maybe it was an off day but that lady's attitude really made me not want to come back. Arlington continues to throw some pretty sweet mom and pop shops at me. Apparently this humble little shop on run-down Cooper St. has been around for a whooping 25 years. I checked it out on a hunch, and it was everything I expected. A hit of buttery bakedness hit me when I walked in, an odd looking "ham and swiss" flattened looking pastry the size of a fetus sat in the counter, and the kolaches were only 80 cents a piece. These were definitely the signs of a place hand making these European goodies. The ham and swiss pastry was just interesting, and most kolache joints seem to have an odd duck. Well, the kolaches are freshly baked and soft here, and that is about all you can ask for. Also, the face-sized cinnamon rolls are very soft as well, and they are dirt-cheap at $1.50 a pop. That totally beats Cinnabon at the mall, but I guess there is a more pretentious and classy feeling when you pick up a pastry after shopping at Macy's. But, hey, for working Arlington, there must be nothing more American and tasty (from my observations) than picking up a Kenner Kolache on the way to work somewhere on good ol' Cooper St. read more

I drive up Cooper to UTA on Saturdays for class, and Kenner's is often a stop on the way... it's a small treat that makes those early mornings much, much easier! Food: The kolaches are good, obviously, but I'll usually want either one of the larger sausage rolls or a Danish Melt Away. The Danish Melt Away in particular is pretty special - it's sweet, but with a great variety of textures and it basically melts in your mouth. Filling, but not overly so. I have had people admire my Melt Aways at UTA, and if I'm out of the door too late in the mornings Kenner's is liable to have sold out. Drinks: There's a small selection of drinks in a fridge, as well as coffee and tea. I'm a fan of stronger cups myself, and so I'll often skip a drink in favor of a back-up kolache. Demerits: While the food is all good, it isn't necessarily an expansive selection. It'd be nice to have some seasonal or rotating items worked in to keep things fresh. Coffee, for me specifically, is another sore point - I'll often follow up a stop at Kenner's with a stop at Starbucks for a one-two snack-strong-coffee punch. But, yeah - I'm definitely a fan. The food, again, is miles ahead of other breakfast options. read more

I live nearby and would never ever buy a sausage roll here. For starters, for some crazy reason, my work brings them in as a "treat" from time to time. Needless to say I go hungry on those days and here is why. They are all lousy bread and next to zero meat. When i say zero, I mean they are so cheap they actually take the time to cut a hot dog in HALF instead of giving the entire one LIKE THE REST OF THE WORLD. Omg! Really??!!! and if you order bacon, you get HALF a piece and about a pound of lousy croissant type bread wrapped around it. I tried to upload a picture to show you the 3 inch half sausage inside. I'm stunned why anyone would buy these when there are at least 10 other places within blocks that are way better. Can't comment on the staff like the others since I don't go in myself. read more

They are ok: I speak of the Kolaches, fruit flavored of course. I ordered a dozen mixed fruit (owner kindly selected them for me since I've never been here before), took them to the office to share. So I have no idea if these are "authentic" or not, but I've had them from West TX and all around central Texas and these are, well, just ok. My wife saw the sign as we were driving past. We stopped in to check it out. The man was very friendly and told us about the different flavors and rolls. I got the raspberry and my wife got the jalapeño roll. The man gave us extra plus two cream cheese Kolaches to try. Everything we had was delicious. The breading was light and fluffy, which I can't always say about the kolaches I've had. My favorite had to be the cream cheese, which was melt-in-your-mouth good, but the raspberry were good as well. I'll definitely have to come back and try their other flavors. I went to this place looking for freshly baked breads. They don't make savory breads but the sweet ones are amazingly delicious and FRESH! They bake them everyday and if no sale by noon, they have to throw them away... Too bad! It was great talking to Rochelle and David. These are some of the best kolaches I have ever had. They are always fresh, fluffy, and baked with perfection. You can really tell he uses higher end ingredients. The jellies and preserves he used are also really good as well. I'm really not sure if he makes his own jelly and preserves but, the peach kolache I just had, had been not canned. Super fresh. This is the perfect little family-owned kolache shop. I called in an order for 3 dozen kolaches this morning and needed them in less than an hour. They delivered!! The man who helped me (I'm assuming the owner) was so appreciative and friendly and the kolaches were fresh and delicious. Prices are good too. Kenner's is great. They've been the best kolache around for ages. They typically offer a good number of fruit kolaches -- cherry, lemon, blueberry, etc. They also have a few sausage rolls, some with jalapeño. Those are addictive. It's a quaint little spot -- no real room to dine in, just grab what you want and go. Prices are incredibly fair. Delicious baked goods. These kolaches were as close to authentic as we've found outside of Prague. read more
