When we walked in, the place smelled heavenly, and I could tell by the smell that they probably have the best fried chicken in town. What followed was the most surreal experience I have ever had. The employees were unfriendly in such a manner that it was impossible to miss. No matter how hard I tried to be friendly and engage the lady that was to take our order, she would either look away when I spoke or would literally turn around and walk away (you read that correctly, she would walk away) then come back to the counter as if she was now ready to take my order. This happened exactly three times and at that point we felt we simply were not welcomed. We wished them a happy Fourth of July and left. All I can say is that the food may be wonderful here yet their customer service does not represent in any way shape or form the lovely town of Lexington, VA. Don't think my heart could handle so much grease on a consistent basis, but when the mood hits, there is nowhere better. There biscuits with honey are unbelievable as well. The building is on top of a hill, behind a sketchy used car lot and isn't visible from the street. Quiet confusing to find but worth it. Kenny's is a no frills fast food place from the past which hasn't been updated since it opened from the looks of the place. However, the food is amazing. They served me and my family the best fried chicken we've ever had two days in a row...we went for dinner and then lunch the next day before leaving town. The biscuits are awesome too. They're like a funnel cake ball with honey and we ordered a dozen because they're that good. This is obviously a family run place and they will get my money anytime I'm near Lexington. read more

Yelped out for a good southern meal while roadtrippin to NC this weekend. Kenneys supposedly had "the best fried chicken" people had ever eaten....I'd have to disagree. We've been on a fried chicken kick lately. We were pretty optimistic that we would get good food when we drove up. The place hasn't been updated for years. People were coming out with aluminum trays of food. We ordered the 8 piece with 6 biscuits. The chicken is very good but surprisingly the biscuits were what amazed us. They are more like fried dough and served with packets of honey. I've never had it like this. The fried chicken is certainly better than adequate but it doesn't reach legendary status which hardly any place does. Enjoyed a fun fried chicken lunch on our way south to Blacksburg. Nice to get off 81 and see Lexington. Chicken was great and plentiful. The 8 piece family pack had two of the biggest, most meaty pieces of white meat I have ever seen. And the "biscuits" were all the other reviewers promised. Don't give up on your Yelp directions.
