Be aware of this man. He started out being straight up. Then suddenly his billing became confusing and random. He completed some work after quoting an amount of money. It was paid. Then he went back and invoiced me for more money on something he never mentioned was added on top of what I'd paid. I questioned him and said his billing was inconsistent and he didn't allow me to weigh the costs. Instead he finished and now he is harassing me and threatening me. Almost acting crazing now. I received some unspecified threats from this business when I asked for (partial) refund for a poorly done job. When concerns about quality of work have been raised, both Kenny and the scheduling assistant have been explicitly rude. The job is very sloppy, with obvious misses (numerous gaps in sealing and grouting, grout on top of tiles, bumps on fixed wall) and poor aesthetics with materials not matching existing materials, excess grout and paint not removed, and overall very broad strokes. Maybe ok for a house/area with many existing imperfections, but not fit for fixing a neat looking area. He worked in dim lighting (without own light) and of course missed spots (he missed nearly 10 spots when grouting and sealing!). He did not clean shower floor tiles after grouting before applying sealing layer all over the floor. This shows the lack of attention to detail and explains the results. I saw he has some 1-star reviews but relied on 4.5-star average rating and was tempted by his same-day availability. This was clearly a mistake. I first hired him to seal the gap between the sagging sink and the counter. This was done ok. Though he did not attempt or even discuss the option of closing the gap first by lifting the sink, and instead he just filled the gap with 1/4-1/2 inch thick visible layer of silicon. He also charged $240 for the job he completed under 1 hour. Don't ask him any extras! I ask him to also apply silicon to the corner between the countertop and backsplash, which he did but left 2'' gap behind the faucet and left a thick blob of silicon in one spot. Next morning, he did a second project in the bathroom: fix drywall damage and re-grout (fill holes between) shower tiles. This was done very poorly. I requested him to come back the next day (which he only agreed to after my insisting, first saying he'll come next time he is in neighborhood). I had to miss work for this. He fixed some of the misses, but refused to fix others. You can see attached pictures. The instructions for the grout he used say "Not suitable for change of plane" (meaning seams/corners where walls meet or wall meets the floor). Instead of grout, caulk or silicon should be used for change of plane. I've put a stop on checks I gave him until the issues are resolved or a refund is agreed upon. But instead of negotiating, they have been rude and issued some vague threats over text messages. I'll update on how this ends. read more

The work was completed in two visits, within one week of request for service. Marco worked day one, and Marco and Kenny worked day two. They were unwilling to provide a fair solution, asked me to find their previous customer's information, and actually changed prices on their estimates during the customer service process (they increased the price!). Quote did not include any information on work to be done, a solution for the issue, or any part costs. I don't think flooring should be the reason an appliance cannot be moved, replaced, or repaired. An experienced flooring company would have considered the need to move/replace an appliance. A fair customer service experience/solution would have been a welcome remedy to this. I do not recommend this company for this flooring headache and the lack of a fair solution for a job done poorly, resulting in a customer to be without a functioning appliance. read more

Poor craftsmanship. Attention to detail was lacking on some painted trim sections I.e. wood near ground was not primed or painted and left contacting the ground! Window sills replaced were sloped into the window! Water pools on window sills, not drain away! I can only recommend if you are micro managing a project. Also communication was TERRIBLE. Unreliable, poor communication leading up the the actual appointment in which my family waited 1.5 hours past the scheduled time, only to find out, after I left text messages (2) and a *voicemail* (1) requesting "some kind of update", that "Kennyman" had a "family emergency enroute to my house?!?! The appt. was at 10:30am and I got a text message at 12noon!?!? I can understand "emergencies" but to wait for an update for 1.5 hours is ridiculous and completely discourteous. I was refer to Kenny from a friend of mine when I had to do some cosmetic renovation at my shop. My project was very time consuming and not easy, but Kenny was able to finish the work in time and exactly how I wanted it. Our project included replacement of a bathroom vanity including its broken P-trap, replacement of a corroded bathtub drain, and replacement of an ancient faucet at the washing machine hook-up. Our regular contractor/handyman had retired, so we needed someone new. After a few false starts, I contacted Kennyman the Handyman. I spoke with Neysa, the cordial and accommodating office manager. I described my project and sent photos by email. Because it was difficult to accurately gauge the scope of work, Kenny needed to come over to the house and check things out. Arriving on-time, Kenny slipped on plastic shoe covers and wore a mask. We looked at the three locations of work inside the house. I received an estimate within a few days. The price was very reasonable. The work was scheduled and completed ahead of schedule. Alberto, the main worker, did a great job, checking in with Kenny as needed. Kenny showed up in-person at strategic times, bringing parts and doing fine-tuning. The replacement parts were a perfect fit and excellent quality. Although the bathtub drain color did not match the other fixtures, it was fine with me, because I knew that the original fixture color is impossible to find on the shelf these days, nor did I want to wait for a special-order. It's been over two weeks now; I continue to be 100% satisfied with our new vanity, drain and fixtures. Having worked in the residential construction field for over 30 years, I feel qualified to judge a work crew's ability to do a good job. Successful projects proceed with efficiency and expertise, but more importantly, with courtesy and mutual respect. Kennyman fulfilled all of my hopes and expectations. Kenny and his company are great. They're insured and yet pretty inexpensive --- but be sure to get an estimate in advance. In our unit they did a great job building some partitions we use to demarcate a sleeping area, demolishing an unnecessary wall, installing our flooring throughout the ground floor (1000sf), fixing a leak in our toilet which was causing problems for our downstairs neighbor, installing our range hood (we put in a ventless range hood), and installing soundproofing (using Green Glue and QuietRock). In every instance they did a very good, solid job at a reasonable price. I have only a few minor issues with Kenny -- he tends to be too optimistic about how quickly he can get something done --- he often would say a job would take 2 days but it really took 3, etc. Also, one time we specifically asked him NOT to do something and he did it anyway, and wanted to bill us for it (a small amount) --- but I was firm that this was not in the scope of work we had agreed to, so we only paid him for the work we had agreed in advance. He accepted that, however, without arguing further, and despite these issues I would work with him again. For these reasons it's important to get an estimate for labor and materials in advance, and clearly specify the scope of work in advance. With any construction project there can be unexpected problems, but Kenny (with the one exception above) would usually inform me in advance of any additional issues, and the extra labor and materials he charged always appeared to be fair (with the one exception I noted above). Note: Kenny is a solid handyman/contractor but not an expert in things like soundproofing, though he has done some soundproofing projects including ours. I had to explain to him exactly what to do there based on my own research, and had to specify, for example, to use acoustic caulk, not Green Glue, to caulk the edges of the project, etc. If you need consultation on anything other than straightforward electrical or construction work, you should do that on your own. It also helps to give Kenny clear instructions and drawings to make sure he understands exactly what you want. Despite these caveats Kenny does an excellent job for the price. Definitely very reasonable prices for the quality of work he does. read more

Sent him the text showing him he meant this Sat. He promised Monday. He said 4pm. Ended up showing up at 4:50pm with the correct part. Wanted to charge me $220 for labor and $45 for part. Excellent communication and careful, quality work. I needed a pet hole to be cut in a cabinet door so I could make use of my laundry room cabinet for my cat litter pan. I wanted the hole cut so my cats, but not the dog could get in. I also needed some similar pet holes cut in a TV stand so I could use it to feed my cats without the dog getting in and so my cats could access their electric feeders with ease. I've done this type of thing myself before but only on cheap ikea furniture. However, now I have a solid wood cabinet so I wanted a professional to do the work. Plus, some of the angles were really tough. I also needed my shower re- caulked. Kennymen gave me an estimate and had excellent communication through yelp. I had been searching high and low for someone to remove an old toilet and install a new one....after contacting a large number of plumbers and handymen, I settled on these guys... basic reasons for the choice, includin 1. Price (which they quoted in advance!! - most just tell you that they need to come out and look and will offer an estimate, which I consider a come on) .. 2. Availability - they were available within a day of my call (they did screw up the arrival time, but only by about 45 minutes)....3. Willingness to do some other work at the same time....4.good ratings on yelp....!! I was not disappointed...two workers and one watcher showed up....they handled the basic work efficiently and then went on to do three other small projects. I did have to clarify that I expected the job to include disposal of the old unit, which they did not initially include. But, they did it without fuss when I indicated that I thought it was part of the price. The pricing was kind of odd...they bid lower than almost anyone else on the toilet work, but were a bit higher on the other, small projects...and, the small project costs seemed unrelated to the time required...for instance, they tightened a nut on a kitchen faucet for $40...probably took less than 10 minutes. Best to get prices in advance, and then decide if its worth it. I had them bid two other jobs, where their prices were clearly very high. All in all, they got the job done as promised and at a very competitive price..they were efficient, and very competitively priced. definitely worth trying I have to update this review based on two more visits by this vendor after the toilet install. They charged but failed to fix a sink faucet net and door knob. They charged for the work, but were unable to make the repairs. They didn't refund the charges. I subsequently hired a real contractor who easily fixed both...so, these guys are good at some basic stuff, but not very good at more complex work. They also bid a paint job and then switched the price when the work was done...so, get bids in writing, and dont use them for anything complex.... read more

If I could give no stars, I would. Kenny presents well and seems like someone you can trust, but he did shotty work, used cheap materials, and made a bad situation worse by extending the duration of the project. The job was to gut our bathroom that had mold, rotting wood, and was in dire need of repair. His quote was reasonable but not inexpensive by any stretch. Still, Kenny's quote was incomplete and he cut corners as a result. He did not include a budget for finishes, so he used the original pre-gut beige outlet and light switch covers on white walls, rehung the old torn accordion door for the linen closet with the same screws and said he was "done" rather than ask for or cover the extra $50. The new tile was covered with brown grout stains that looked like dirt. He mounted the toilet roll dispenser in the wrong location and simply refused to move it citing "code" while defending the mounting of the towel bars at about eye level(?!). Worse still, he purchased the wrong fixtures (vanity and top) after I sent him photos and sku numbers, and installed them after taking ADDITIONAL money from me for my upgraded selection, and did not remove/replace when I complained nor did he reimburse my upgrade money (which I feel is theft). He was incredibly unethical and unapologetic throughout, and cared very little that I was outrageously dissatisfied with the work or the final product. Now, not even a year later, the paint is chipping on the cheap vanity he purchased. I've debated posting this review because though it is true and fair, it is harsh. If you choose to work with him, buyer beware. I learned my lesson the hard way. read more
