Best mani/pedi in town! Clean and excellent nail tech's! Ask for Ly, I won't ever go to anyone else for nail service in the valley

I have to say i absolutely love this salon! Their cleanliness is always on point and their by far the most friendly individuals I've ever met. I get my nails done here once a week or every two weeks and I've never had bad service. The last time i came in for a full set, the women doing my nails was very upfront with me and gave me an option of getting my nails done with someone else due to the fact she would need to answer the phone on occasions while working with me. I proceeded with working with her and was ultimately satisfied with her hard work on my nails and her hard work as an employee for being the receptionist and the nail tech! I believe her name was Cindy. She was very apologetic when answering the phone and doing my nails and i have to say i admire her hard work for me as a customer, her dedication as an employee and her genuine desire to slay my nails every time i come in ! I've been a loyal customer of Ken and his wife, Amy, since they opened back in September 2009. I am always impressed by ther profesionalism and attention to detail. 90% of the techs understand English so it's easy to talk to them and let them know what you want. On 8/30/2012 my friend came to Ken's Nails & Spa for a waxing. After she came home then found out her skin was burnt very seriously. I've heard several times before that: In most of the Nails Salon, there are several Nail Technicians who are doing the waxing WITHOUT the proper licenses. Because they did not have the proper training to protect the customer. I think my friend was served by somebody who has no waxing license and/or experience. Before you request the waxing service by anyone in any Salon you should ask to see if they are licensed. read more

Last week, my friend went to Ken Nails & Spa for a hand waxing. After she went home and found out her skin has been burn seriously. I've heard that: in almost all of the nail salons, the Vietnamese owner would allow the Nail Technicians WITHOUT proper license to do the waxing. Because of lacking appropriate training to protect the customer, therefore they can cause serious damage. Today I came to Ken's Nails & Spa and I've felt so terrible because of their negligence and greedy. I had a deluxe pedicure plus regular manicure but they finished both jobs in less than 45 minutes. I've think that's too quick and it turns out the quality is bad with the cuticles was not cleaned at all: My heels are still so rough with callous which it supposed to be removed and less than 2 minutes for sugar scrub massage. In the other salon I've visited, for just the deluxe pedicure alone it would take at least 50 minutes. I think the previous reviews with 4-5 stars are not correct. I took my fiance to this nail salon the other day. She said that the experience was fantastic the nail tech did a really good job but during my time sitting there waiting, I couldnt help but notice how the employees are treated by the owner. Growing up in LA so I have lot of vietnamese friends and I do spoke a little bit of vietnamese and I cant help but over heard some bad stuff that the owner said to the employees. Anyone who wants to have a relax time while doing Manicure or Pedicure at Ken's Nails & Spa should pay attention to problems currently happening in that salon. Otherwise, you may be in danger: After the remodeling completed, there are more Spa chairs and the place itself becomes so crowded with many potential hazards just waiting to happen. 1. If you are seated on the new chair which is very close and opposite to the restroom. There is no way you can relax. 2. There is not enough of hot water for every chair. If you are in that situation, they would boil some hot water in a kettle and pour it directly into the Spa while you feet are soaking in that Spa. If there is any wrong movement at that time either from you or from the person who is pouring the hot water then you will be burn for sure. 3. Since the place is so crowded, my friend has seen a Nail Technician who was tripped while moving around. When that person fell, she pushed off another Nail Tech who was sitting nearby and cutting the cuticle of her customer. This incident might cause serious injuries not to mention fire hazard is so great if there are more customers at the same time. I do not know if the city approve the design for the remodeling or not but based on the visual observation it's not safe there for it might be illegal. My friends said that the Nail Technicians at Ken's Nails & Spa are doing a very good job for their customers but the working environment is very bad and potentially dangerous. read more

This is the only place that I will go to get my nails done. I always get a fill + gel.. A little more expensive but totally worth the extra price (nails last 3 weeks!) Amy and Kevin always do a fabulous job. Both are attentive to detail and Amy is very engaging with the customers! I always ask for color recommendations and have yet to be disappointed. The guy was having issues getting my old nails off and was really rude about it and made comments about them to the girl sitting next to him the entire time. I've been here two times and was disappointed each time! I let them do my acrylic nails and it seems like after four days they start to chip and the nail falls off easily! I won't even feel the fake nail break it just falls off! They use cheap product! Their paint job is sloppy sometimes. Oh and do not get your brows waxed here! I asked the lady If she could please not reshape my brows and to just clean up the extra hairs. She did complete opposite, she made them uneven and ridiculously thin ! Well. looks like I'll be continuing my search for a good nail salon in the Scottsdale/Phx area. NEVER will I return here -- I had truly the WORST french manicure in the 26 years that I have been getting them done. The woman who performed my main/pedi was nice enough (tho I really grew tired of her constantly slapping my hands and feet to get them to the positions she wanted them), but she took direction on what I wanted very poorly. The pedicure was fine, though I was surprised by the extra charge for buffing the bottom of my feet (on the menu it was labeled "callous removal -- $5", even though I had no callouses). This buffing has always been included in a standard pedicure at any other salon I have ever been to. The french-style color on my toes was fine, though a bit heavy-handed....super thick white lines. But it was the pedicure that was such a disaster that I almost cried. I was coming in to do this as a prep for interviews that I have over the next 2 days... and now it's all I can do to barely stick my hand out to shake hands before I withdraw them and hide them. I'm sure that sounds like I'm being much too dramatic -- but the manicure looks like I let an 8-year old do my nails. (to quote a woman who looked at my hands). I showed the manicurist the length and shape I wanted (in fact, I had already cut and shaped my right hand before I went in). She proceeded to butcher both hands. When she went to file my right hand, I didn't even pay attention -- I thought she was just buffing the ends -- and she had filed them to less than half the length that I had prepared them to so that now they are so short that the quick of my nails are sore. She also shaped them completely, in fact laughably square -- opposite of what I asked for. I made a number of attempts to try to direct her on how to reshape them and soften the corners, but she just did not get it. When I tried to reach for the file and the snips a couple of times to try to fix the disaster, she kept slapping at my hands. Finally, I just zipped my mouth and hoped to get out of there before much more damage could be done. My nails were already cut ridiculously short and uneven in both length and shape throughout all 10 fingers -- no way to fix that. Yet, before the polish started she still tried to upsell me to a gel polish that "would last 2 weeks". Ha! I was wrong -- the french polish job actually got worse. The white was plopped on so thickly that less than 24 hours later it is full of cracks and crazing. The clear pink has already lifted from the cuticles of all 10 fingers. I asked for a top coat (which is always standard -- you finish off a polish with a clear top coat -- but was told no, the pink is the top coat. Guess I should have gone for the gel upsell so that MAYBE my manicure could have lasted for 48 hours. NEVER NEVER NEVER have I gotten such a poor manicure, or ever even gotten a manicure that i did not like. If you are used to going to these various stripmall nail salons, you are probably accustomed to the routine that most estheticians follow in the course of a standard manicure or pedicure. Do NOT expect to get that here -- but I am sure that if you go for all of the upsell extras on their "menu", you might be able to put together the standard experience you get at other salons. In my case, even with some of the extras, it not only did not complete the experience, but the execution was not competent. I have called my credit card company and am disputing the charge while I wait for a phone call back from "Amy" or "Ken". Apparently, there is a loyal following from all the other reviewers listed here -- but, if nothing else, hopefully you will be warned to at least take a look at their price menu so that you are not surprised at what is/is not included, be prepared for the routine of upsells, and keep a close eye on the work being performed rather than losing yourself in a magazine. Additional note as of April 18 -- I have now been waiting 4 days for one of the managers (Ken or Amy) to return my call. Nothing. So, I've spent the first 4 hours of the day trying to call and getting a busy signal. Just now, I got through and was told that there is no manager there today, and I had to practically beg her to take my name and number down again. read more

Every appointment I had to wait for 20 minutes, then she would rish through my appointment referring to the next customer as waiting. She cancelled on me several times, after the third time I decided I wasn't important enough and quit going. read more

I didn't have the greatest first experience. I was overcharged for my pedicure, charged for the more expensive one. The atmosphere was kinda weird and I felt like there was no one person running the place that I could talk to. I really enjoyed the sugar massage, it was FANTASTIC. I returned the following day to have have my polish corrected and found a much different atmosphere. There was a young girl in the shop that was easy to communicate with and she served as a translator for myself and the other employees. When they found out that I was not happy they did their best to jointly correct my bad experience and the polish on my toes. I feel the shop redeemed itself. If you do visit Ken's nails be sure to have the price meet your services and verify it with your nail tech. Maybe I expected too much or maybe they were having a bad day my first visit. I moved to the Arcadia hood a couple years ago and was having a hard time finding a nail salon that I loved as much as Scottsdale Nails up north. I've been to every nail place in the hood - Paulene's, Chic, Sundrop's, Charlie's... none of them compare to Ken's nails for quality service and convenience and price. I have had bad experiences at some other salons in the area. Ken's technicians are professional and very good at what they do. I have always just walked in to get a gel (shellac) manicure and pedicure. Have maybe only waited 15 minutes to get in. I never request a specific person because they are all good. I definitely recommend them... such a great way to get away to relax. I went to Sundrop's for a little while but I miss the massage chairs and you can't beat the quality of service at Ken's. read more
