bought a soundbar and paid for installation. they never installed and wouldn't give me the installation fee back

Ken's, in essence, completely ripped me off. OK for ppl that know (and don't) I bought a cheaper Alpine stereo (which I got because they didn't have a bracket to install the Kenwood I had picked out the day of install), four 6x8s all Alpine, a Rockford Fosgate 600W amp and one 15" RF subwoofer. I'm 46 yrs old. I was putting this system in my 19 yr old's car (05 Grand Marquis). The salesman picked out all the quipment. Told me it was all top of the line, cutting edge tech, I mean he SOLD IT. I haven't been into systems since 89/90 so I'm a lil out of the game. But when I WAS A KID, we went to Ken's and they did you right. I trusted the guy. Of course I came in with a budget for $1200 n he talked me into getting the above with install for $2100. Install day comes. First problem...radio has no bracket. They ask me if I'd like to "upgrade free of charge" to the Alpine. I said absolutely. Install is finished...didn't sound ANYTHING like what I had in 90. The stereo and 6x8s were good. Alpine is a great company. I tell them it's not the sound I envisioned. Keep in mind I told the salesman what I wanted...crisp, clean, loud mids n highs, and enough bass to play rock, but hit good n get low w hip hop. Anyway...they tell me it's cuz everything is brand new. They'll open up after breaking in. Before I drive a mile away, the bk right speaker quits n there's horrible engine noise. I take it right bk. Loose wire they say. A week later...same problem. Loose wire again they say...no more probs (we really got em on now). I get home and start looking at a Crutchfield magazine online to see the reviews of my purchase. The first thing I notice...I paid 3-4x what I could have simply ordered it for. I'm irate. But it's my own fault. I shouldn't have trusted a salesman. Then...my sub gets blown out just 2 weeks later. I find out they charged me more for the CHEAPEST RF sub (which I had) than the competition model! 300W blew it up in 2 weeks! They replace it with one just like it. Now I'm upset. I told them. They then replaced it with a model several grades up. For the next year n a half I constantly had at least one speaker out. Every time they told me it was a loose wire, something ez to fix. Continues on n on and I'm giving them a mouthful, but not push it so far they have reason not to help me. Finally. My warrantee had ran out. I had been for repairs 7-8 times. THIS TIME it's not a loose wire. My amp is faulty. Hmmmm. If I were a betting man I'd say this was the prob from the beginning. They SOLD me a used, defective amp and kept me hanging till the warranty ran out. When I talked to them they asked in a cheery voice if I'd like to order another amp just like it. My friends that understand car audio and electronics tell me it's TERRIBLE. Both the install and plan. 300W is NOTHING for this subwoofer. It can take 4-5x that amount of power. That's why I hardly had bass. Just enough to give some punch n add depth but no boom and by God for $2100 I wanted some boom! OK I want to acknowledge to everyone thinking I should have done my homework, you're exactly right. I mistakenly trusted this place. It's amazing how it's run compared to bk in my days (late 80s, early 90s) *The biggest thing I took away from this experience if you felt that was too long...just read this. 1) they knowingly sold me a defective amp 2) they knowingly sold me all items that you could order online for 3-4x the amount online 3) they were incompetent in many aspects. Especially day of install when I had to choose a different stereo cuz they didn't have the bracket for the one I picked 4) every time I had an issue, I would have to schedule a date 2-3 weeks ahead n leave the car all day. This was 60 miles round trip 5) even the day of install, nobody showed me my system or how to work anything, or acted in any way they were "proud" of their work. It was just parked out front n they threw the keys like I had a flat tire patches 6) I got neither any of my original stereo speakers or radio back nor any boxes or manuals how to work it 7) Finally, after over spending, given excuses that never fixed the problem, the terrible service and waiting...I decided to write Mike, the guy you see on TV, a letter explaining my problems. I spent $2100 n less than 2 yrs later I have no sounds at all. We thought Mike was cool n a nice guy when we were younger. It went unreturned. I could have went much, much further but I already wrote the equivalent of a novel. Suffice to say, I will NEVER return to Ken's and I BEG anyone else not to go read more

Of all the joints in all of the town, this has to be the worst. You'll get overpriced and they try to sell you the cash cow warranties on their overpriced products. You want a nice stereo, don't let the salesman play a CD of rap music unless you like rap music and that's what you're going to be listening to all the time. Take your own CD and ignore the salesman who gets paid a commission on the sale. It's a big investment, you'll be stuck with it for years to come so take your own material. If you really want to see how well their stereo and speakers perform, take a CD of pipe organ music. I sincerely doubt they'll let you do this. I'm saying they won't let you do this as they know it shows up their speakers. If no one has done this, do it! They won't do it a second time because they don't want to replace a 20k sound system. A pipe organ recording is the hardest thing for a speaker and will "clip" it very easily if they turn the volume up too high. Get good old Bach's Toccata in D, fire it up and pump up the volume. See old sonny boy's hair get a few more grey hairs as he knows it will clip the speakers and if doesn't on this time, the next time someone brings in something that really stresses the base, it will. You don't have to like pipe organ music to play it to see how well their system can handle it. Chances are it cannot. They set it up for basic music and then play rap to you, especially, if they think that's not what you listen to all the time. I don't listen to rap. Not knocking it but I don't know how rap music is supposed to sound on a good stereo system. So, if I don't listen to rap, don't plan to why are they playing it to me? Why? Because they know you don't like it, won't listen to it very long to get you out and don't know how it's supposed to sound. Does rap wrap the subwoofer down the drain? Not like the 32' stop of a pipe organ. You don't hear some of the pipe organ music, you will feel it. Your hair will vibrate. Your teeth can feel it. if you hear an actual pipe organ say in a church, you can hear and feel it. This is what they don't want because it's a very costly mistake for them. Now, before you go in the store, look the parking lot over. There'll be a few very nice and expensive cars parked away from the building. One will be belonging to sonny boy. Guess who's paying for his sweet, sweet ride? Last time I was there, it was an insurance claim and the saleman lied to me every step of the way. This is several years ago. In fact, they fired FIVE over it, as I recall. No one at Ken's would do anything about me being ripped off by their staff and company. So, I started calling each and every company that they represent and were licensed to sell, telling them my story of how they ripped me off. Even the bank that I wrote a 3k plus check on told me my options of filing a complaint and how it wasn't right. Sonnyboy is so heavenly right, these days. I purchased a radio from Ken's on Aug 29th and the informed me that they couldn't not put in in my car until the 10th of October. I agreed. So on the 10th of September a young lady call me at 4:45pm and told me that my car was ready. I got there at 5:15pm and stayed until 6:30 pm after closing for them to tell me they couldn't get the steering wheel switches to work they had to call Honda to get it to work. They ask me to leave it so I did. I picked it up that following Tuesday excited about my new radio. So in about 2 weeks I noticed the radio wasn't keeping time and the channels button wasn't working correctly. So I called them and they told me to bring it by so I came by one day after work. I stayed there 2 hrs on a work day for the technician to tell me he ran a new memory wire to my ignition switch to keep the time and it made a VSA light come on but it should go off after I drive it for about 10 minutes. That light never went OFF!! So I called them again and they told me that the machine they have to reset it was at the Warner Robins store so if I wanted to I can bring it another day. I dropped my car off Monday evening and nobody has called me I been calling them all week and they couldn't tell me nothing. So today they are telling me that a sensor that they had problems with originally has gone bad and I had to fix it. These people are rude and unprofessional. How do I have to pay for something that "skilled technicians" should know of it's compatible or not?? Im highly pissed and I stayed calm the whole time. But they truly treated me like they don't give a damn about my business. If they knew my car couldn't or shouldn't use a part why put it in the car. Why should I pay for something that you guy's damaged!!! I don't recommend them and I guess women customers aren't treated the same as the men because I know it would have been handled different if I were a man.. read more

Worst audio place in Middle Georgia just go to a local mechanic even a Craigslist guy. I paid $2,000 for a downgrade. I bought a alpine stereo, a backup camera and and 6 Sony speakers. First before we even get into the quality of work all 4 door panels were not placed correctly and often keep fall out of my doors when open from when they took it off to insert new speakers. One of the guys literally just slapped the doors and said there you go it's just not in but keeps falling out and jamming. Second the speakers have a loud static sound with no volume post installment and it is super annoying cause listening to music at low volume is extremely irritating as I can hear the static through the music. Third, 5 of the 6 speakers were not even working only one was playing music post installment and I was shocked at how horrible the sound was when I heard only one speaker playing anything at all. Avoid at all costs just try a small mechanic or ask around. read more

I had the privilege meeting Kurt Kozee. He is so respectful, kind and funny. I enjoyed him so much forgot to tell him about my sound bar but he remembered before he left. He is also a great salesman I will be purchasing another surround sound system from Kens just because of Kurt services. Kurt treated me like we have been friends for life and I so appreciate that. Paid $850 to install a backup camera and new radio. They did not finish the work on the appointed day. When the car was ready the next day, the backup camera was temporarily installed since they did not have the bracket for it. (OK, no biggy) Discovered they had not connected the "dimming" function and so the radio screen did not dim when the headlights were on. The "view" function was not connected, and they shoved the USB cable inside the glove compartment instead of the center console between the seats. When the bracket finally arrived, I took the car back and left it for the day, leaving them a list of the problems I'd found. They fixed everything except the USB cable, telling me "It is too short". (Subsequently noticed there is a new rattle in the back of the car, likely wires or connectors from their work.) Today I took my car in to my own mechanic for oil change and asked him to relocate the USB cable, providing him with a 2 foot USB extension cable. When I picked up the car, he told me, "By the way, you did not need the extension cable; it fit just fine." Ken's had lied to my face. And I just paid someone else $40 to finish Ken's work. I suggest you avoid Ken's Stereo in Warner Robins, unless you are prepared to deal with sub-quality work. read more

Awful customer service. Called with installation questions and I was put on hold indefinitely. Eventually I was told that they would call back but they never did. Prices are too high, as well. Better off getting something from Amazon for cheaper! read more

I had a stereo/speaker upgrade done at the Warner Robins store. I explicitly asked the salesman to tell the installer to save everything they removed because I had plans to sell them. When the installer removed the speakers, he cut all the connectors at the terminals on the speakers and even broke a circuit board on one of them. The speakers are no longer available, let alone the circuit board, and mine are worthless now. Once the job was done I noticed that one piece the installer had to cut was completely destroyed. It looked like he had tried to cut it with a manual can opener. Then I noticed one part that goes across the back of the vehicle was completely missing, leaving motors and wiring exposed. The manager looked, but couldn't find it in the shop or the trash and said he guessed the installer must have just thrown it away. I was able to locate the part the installer destroyed and the part he threw away, but they ended up costing me $300. I took a copy of the receipt back to the manager and he promised me he would have the owner in Macon send me a check for the replacement parts. He also stated he had fired the installer. It's been a month now and still no check. If there was a way to give Ken's a 0 rating, I would. At least the installer was fired. As for as what Ken's owes me, I'll be in contact with my lawyers tomorrow. read more

This place is ridiculous! All they do is overcharge you, install your stuff incorrectly, charge you again to fix it and then have it still not work! I have taken my car several times to have them fix it and all they want to do is charge me labor costs when it did not work when they originally installed it. read more

Recently was purchased a CD player as a gift. I buy the wiring harness, the dash kit, and wire connectors, as well as the keys to pull the factory radio out. So I go in with the factory radio already out thinking all they have to do is wire the harness and hook up the blu tooth mic. a 20 minute job literally, 50 bucks maybe, . then they charged me 85 dollars. when they finish and pull the car around i notice the trim plate around the CD player isn't in place, so i try myself. then call their "wonderful" customer service. who tells me it wont fit, and that their installer wouldn't just not put it on, because he is an "expert" and is pretty much never wrong, then has the nerve to say I should buy my stuff from them next time, instead of Crutchfield. So I call Crutchfield tech support and it turns out the dubmbass installer didn't take the factory, safety trim plate off CD player so of course it didn't fit right. I popped it right off with a flathead screwdriver, and had the real trim plate on in less than 2 min. I mean who tells Crutchfield their wrong?! LOL. Also while I was waiting I was looking at replacing the factory speakers and probably stood there looking at at set for 10 min and nobody noticed me. I finally went to the counter and asked the price of the certain ones I was interested in but the guy seemed to be too busy playing on his cell phone to help me, so he MISSED a sale of a set of speakers. overall lousy customer service, techs who didnt know what they were doing, sales people who don't know product, and a manager who called me stupid for buying my dash kit from Cuchfield and having the nerve to ask if the installer might have forgot it. Oh and don't get me started on the meth fueled receptionist. The only positive thing was that I didn't have to wait because I guess I was the only person dumb enough to shop there. I would have taken it to Best Buy but it was a Saturday and they said it would take about 3 hrs there and there's only so much to look at, at Best Buy.. I will never take my main truck a 2011 Tahoe LTZ sport with over 4 grand worth of audio and video in it, or my commuter vehicle a 99 Ford Crown Victoria Sedan, which im just trying to set up with some updated basics, back to any of their shops and I hope this review deters you from doing the same.
