This place is my go-to for a burger and a beer. Everyone is super nice, and the beer selection is amazing. They also have an absolutely solid Guinness, and if you like Guinness, you'll know, not every place is the same. Chicken sandwich and the burgers are my favorite here, always on point. Wings are great as well. They have just about every sport you could be looking for, from rugby to tennis to football, and they'll usually stay open a little late if the game runs late. If you find yourself in the neighborhood for something else, and need a quick drink or bite before or after, this is sure to keep your spirits up read more

Cant say enough great stuff about this spot. The gentleman that was my bartender was one of the nicest, most professional, not to mention knowledgeable of all of the beers on the menu bartenders I have ever met. At one point I just let him pick the beer I was going to get, and he nailed it every time, was good for a friendly conversation, pretty fun stop on my way into Manhattan. Great place to watch a game. Came here all the way from Queens because I saw it advertised on my Instagram (Data analytics tracked me down). I was apprehensive at first I'll admit it but once I walked in and saw how busy it was I was kind of taken aback. Something else I learned- it's only a few blocks away from the Smorgasbord and I've always wanted to go. It took me all but two years to make it there. Always come here with friends to watch sports or simply just to hang out. They have an outdoor seated area during the summer with a decent view of the city skyline. The best part about this bar is their beers (hence their name), and the rosemary fries on the food menu. They have many, many different types of exclusive beers that are limited in production units; my favorite being "Delirium Tremens". The bartenders are fabulous. They always have to work so hard because this place gets packed on weekends with party-goers who like to pregame here. The only bad thing about this place is the cleanliness of the bathrooms, but it's not so bad considering how many people come here. Strolling around the area with a friend before a show. We were looking for some food and stumbled upon this gem. It was pretty dead when we walked in, though it was just 5pm on a Monday. We put in our drink and food orders at the bar where the bartender was very friendly. We asked if we could sit at one of the outdoor tables and she said sure no problem, which was great because a beautiful light breeze had just started to pick up outside. We both got Brooklyn's own Defender IPAs and picked a cute little table right outside. We ordered the grass-fed beef burgers medium with avocado and well-done fries, and to be honest, I expected it to be more expensive considering the location. She brought our burgers out to us quicker than I had anticipated and to my delight, they were fairly large and juicy burgers and they were cooked absolutely perfectly. I have absolutely no complaints at all and I look forward to returning the next time I'm in the area! read more

Decided to stop here for a quick bite. When walking in I was disappointed in the poor condition of the establishment. Very run down and looks to be in disorder. They have 7 TVs on playing American football in the front room and looks like more in the back (but I didn't go back there) and I am guessing other sports. The beer selection was on nothing to special; you can find them at just about any other bar and most restaurants in the area. Bar tender looked to be very annoyed and had to work hard to get any type of pleasant reaction out of her. Other staff was standing at wait station eating I am guessing before the dinner rush (got there at 4:20pm). Ordered two things from the menu one of the bite items and one appetizer. It took around 15min to get. Ordered the fried pickles which were fine nothing special and also ordered the tater tots and I was beyond disappointed. Only 8 tots and flavor less on top of that. So rating: 1-5 Atmosphere: 3 (it is a bar) Drink selection: 4 (acceptable but not special) Food: 2 (for a bar you should at least be able to get small things right) Service: 2 (was rather uncomfortable with moody staff and felt as if they were inconvenienced by my business) Overall: 2.5 (but mark on the lower end as there are many other bars/pubs that do it right in the area) read more

Disappointed is the word I would use to describe KAH. I was really looking forward to it too. I ordered takeout (a burger, fries, and salad) and was told that it'd be 5 minutes. Awesome! I love when restaurants are quick. I headed over, and picked up my food. They got my order wrong and promptly changed out what was wrong. They were very nice about it. The blonde behind the counter took my money ($20) and came back with a smile. I said "I gave you a $20" to which she replied "It was $19.60." Since when do restaurants keep the change?! Not that 40 cents is gonna make or break my wallet, but that's my 40 cents to decide if I want to leave it, KAH. This is the second restaurant in this neighborhood that has pulled this crap on me. It's not right. And the kicker to this story was that my burger was flavorless and my sweet potato fries were just mushy. I don't think I'll be back for food. read more

Pretty much just echoing what a few others have said. Pretty decent beer list and some great ones on tap but the customer service is terrible. I went with a friend and despite it being pretty empty it took almost 30 minutes for the waiter to come take my drink order. On top of being completely apathetic about his job, the waiter was simply rude, difficult to talk to, and seemed annoyed that we had questions about the different types of beer. Call me crazy but don't people who work at ale houses usually love talking about beer and making recommendations?? After finally dropping off my drink the waiter promptly disappeared and didn't return! My friend and I had to flag him down to place a food order which he wrote down and never brought out. I would like to think it was just an off night or that there's only one waiter here with a bad attitude but honestly there are so many good bars in the neighborhood it's not worth going back to find out. read more

Customer service needs to improve! Just went to Kent Ale House to watch the election results with a friend. There was ample seating. The main host let me know to take a seat, scan the menu and took my food order. He was friendly, answered my questions about indoor and outdoor seating. But then the waiter came over much later. He took my drink order and then when my friend came over brought water for her. After about 20 minutes, we realized he was not going to ask for her drink order, so we called him over to let him know she wanted to order a drink. I also let him know I wanted to order a side of fries ....well my friend's drink came but the fries didn't. No big deal I waited as I thought they were probably cooking a fresh batch in the kitchen, right? WRONG! The order never came!! He also never came back to ask if we wanted another drink. I had to call the waiter over again to follow up on fries order, which he forgot about, apologized briefly, but didn't offer to comp at all or bring an extra side for my friend. Only when checking to bring the bill did the waiter ask if we wanted another drink ...um, no! I might return to Kent Ale House in the future, but not immediate future. Please work on training waiters on better customer service and attentiveness to customers. This is a great location, great beer selection, good pub food. Potential, but not quite there yet! read more

Went to Kent Ale House tonight with hopes to watch the football game. After it was clearly apparent I was the only one in the bar interested in watching the game I asked if they normally cut music and put the game through the speakers. The bartender kindly introduced himself to me and rather than saying "no" offered to not only put the sound on in the back room but also lower the projector and put it on the big screen. Had the whole back to myself for a quarter! That's a big A+ for service in my book! I highly recommend this place to any and all in the Williamsburg and surrounding areas. They had a stack full of board games and a dartboard in the back room as well! Cool joint, great service, try the artichoke dip! read more

Best burger I have had in a while. Waitress however wasn't good. The place was pretty quite and throughout our meal we didn't get asked for a refill on drinks till after we ate. We finished our drinks in the beginning of the meal and watched as she danced with another waitress instead of paying attention to tables. We had wanted to order beers but opted out because we had finished our food by the time she came to refill our watered down Cokes. The food was amazing, my date and I both built our own burgers, they were cooked to perfection. I had the tater tots, they were excellent, I haven't had them like this before but they were fried outside with hash brown sliced potato strips inside. They were perfect. Kent Ale House is a great spot to pregame at before heading into any one of the numerous music venues and dance clubs nearby (which you know will charge almost twice as much). A fan of craft beers? Good, they have a huge board of what they currently have on draft for $5-7 per pint. Bartenders aren't the friendliest, though. read more

My go-to for watching soccer. Opens early enough for Premier League matches. They're always on but it doesn't get crazy crowded, except for the biggest of matches. Large beer selection. Bloody Marys. Well, I have been going here regularly for about four months, so I thought I would update my review. I am still a big fan of the place ... food and beer selection are both excellent. However, I've been increasingly perturbed by some of the members of the staff. Bartender who wears a hat and has a Falkland Islands accent - This guy is a very good bartender, but he is a bit too earnest and genuine... what I wouldn't give for an eye-roll once in awhile from this guy. He also pours too much beer in the glass... One time, some foam got on my hand. Bartender who looks like Ryan Gossling (with the flu) - What to say about this bro... he looks like Ryan Gossling (with the flu). Could stand to improve his chess game. His girlfriend seems well cooler than him. Diego - Serious lack of wildlife oriented shirts. I feel like he sorta pulled some false advertising. First few times I met him he always had on an owl shirt or a tiger shirt... cool stuff. These days, I don't know... just sweatshirts or whatever... it is a problem. Co-Owner - Interesting guy, originally from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia I think. Maybe not the most outgoing or friendly guy around, could really use to interact with the customers a little bit now and again. Good guy though. The only thing that really bothers me about him... dude drives everywhere, like if they need lemons or something, guy hops into his SUV and drives off to the store... its like c'mon guy this is Brooklyn, think about the environment. Defo dig this spot. My friend and I came by RIGHT as they started to serve food (4 pm-ish I do believe) we didn't really know if they were open, there was a table of 6 folks hanging out (we thought it was perhaps a staff meeting on first blush, but alas it was just a group of day drinkers.) I approached the bar and after a bit the bartender came over...he was a bit standoffish and prep'n the bar for the evening. I saw show games, so I explained to him that my roommates gf is from Liverpool and would really like to see the fight that was the next night....then I asked him if they were serving food. He said he'd check on both of those things and reappeared a few minutes later. Verdict on the fight, they'll put on any game you want as long as it's not PPV (fume, what fight ISN'T PPV?) and they kitchen was open. He warmed up a bit between leaving and coming back and asked if I said she was from Liverpool. He ended up being from England as well (can't remember where) and we joked about thick accent and all the stereotypes that come with her hometown. I ordered the veggie burger and it was quite delicious, gotta love a house made veggie burger. My buddy ordered an adult grilled cheese and some sort of salad to justify the grilled cheese. She loved her grilled cheese, didn't finish her salad. That doesn't mean that it wasn't good, it probably means she only guilted herself into getting it and had no desire to eat it as she didn't say anything bad about it either. I had a few beers but then a rowdy happy hour crowd arrived and we had to motor before our chill afternoon was ruined by them. No need to have others ruin it when we're perfectly capable of such a feat by going to see Hanzel and Gretal after a great meal here. read more

I had been to kent ale house many times before last week and it's a great old standby with a good burger to watch sports. But the Irish bartender that was working that night really made it worth the review. I forget his name which is too bad, but he was super accommodating, turned the light on in the back so we could play pingpong and games and brought us beers back there as well while being pretty busy in the front. I stumbled in here after checking out Altober via Yelp for a little bit. There were numerous Halloween decorations. Pumpkin pails with candles lit inside. Very cute. Irish bartenders. Also very cute. Random - Michigan State University Football game on 2 of the tvs?! WHAT?! Where am I?! That was an awesome surprise! It really actually is more of a futball place or what I like to call soccer. I'm not into that stuff. They had $4 wells and a nice collection of craft beers on tap. One of which I have only seen at Foodtown: "Young's Banana Nut Bread Ale". It is as delicious as it sounds. Food menu that I checked out but didn't grab anything sounded interesting. You can construct your own burger and they have an interesting collection of sauces: garlic aioli, kansas city bbq, chipotle ketchup. The entire place smelled of truffles at one point. It's just a bit far for me to trek to unless I'm there for a purpose. But if you're in the hood, great Irish pub. read more

I love this bar. Frankly, I love any bar that's open for breakfast and soccer at hours when drinking is normally frowned upon. I don't generally hang out in sports bars but this is a good "everybody wins" situation, with a bunch of screens, fun people and a ping-pong table. It's super laid back and the tap list is amazing. I live a 15+ walk away and this is still one of my favorite spots, no matter the weather! read more

The manager was super accommodating, and the servers and staff were attentive and friendly. We ordered some platters (can't go wrong with the wings, grilled cheese, or salad). I was super impressed. I just went to this place and the girl...don't know her name. She was blonde was rather unkind. In the process of me talking to my boyfriend she felt the need to interject herself into my conversation with him. Asking if I had a problem with her. What I didn't like was her energy even upon our arrival was rude and unkind and it only went down hill from there. She dropped off menus then went and talked about me to one of her little friends and never came back to check in or ask us if we were ready to order. We ended up leaving because she refused to give us service. Sometimes I feel that people are a certain way because we are an interracial couple. But the way she acted was incredibly unkind and doesn't belong in an industry where you interact with people. read more

If it takes you a minimal amount of time to get ready to go out, this is the bar for you. It offers an escape from the noise and trends of Bedford Ave, and Williamsburg in general. Great service, the food is top notch, and a good selection of alcohol. It's all about the vibe because the lights are dimmed, and Beach House is lulling you to have another drink, even though the various TV's do offer the local sports selections. Stopped by this place Saturday evening for a BD party. Good atmosphere, barrels for tables were a nice touch. Great beer selection with decent prices. All the patrons seemed friendly and well composed. Only douche bag was some short stocky tool wearing a grey hat and seemed to want to pick a fight with everyone. I later found out he was actually part of the party I was with. Pretty embarrassing. Too bad he wasn't as friendly has his brown spinner gf. He was totally rocking a Hoboken/Jersey City vibe. Anyhow no fault of the bar. Place was great, staff from the bartender down to the bar backs were friendly and accommodating. Will repeat. read more

Although I've been to NYC before, I've never been to Brooklyn, and this was a great place to start! When we first came in, the bar was vibrant and busy, and it was a cheerful atmosphere with football and tennis playing. When we sat down the bartender recommended the beer flight which was a great way to try some of the local brews! Brooklyn silver anniversary was my favorite and I definitely recommend it. Food was delicious- loved the rosemary fries and wanted to try the club but when I told the bartender I thought it would be too much, she gladly offered to make it a wrap. The food was amazing and loved trying it! Overall great food, beer, service, and atmosphere- definitely try it out next time you're in the area! read more

I give this place 4 mainly because of the nice staff and the view of manhattan at sunset. In the summer it's a great place sit outside and enjoy. I ordered a burger and it took a long time to get it. I don't mind waiting if it's good. But what I got was a bit underwhelming. I'm probably better off with some of the other dishes which from what I saw did look and smell good.
