How has it been six years since I last reviewed Akasha!?!…read more It has been and remains my and my husband's favorite brewery in Louisville. Some of the current reasons why we love it: * Great beer, as always. I know there will always be something I want. Their gose beer is always a delicious choice. * Easy access to takeout food. We regularly order from either Feast BBQ next door or Royal's Hot Chicken further down Market. You can order via each restaurant's website and then just walk down to pick up. * Outdoor seating. Akasha added an enclosed seating area right off the parking lot. * Dog friendly. We regularly bring Millie and see dogs in there whenever we go, as well as the brewery's cat. * Kid friendly. We've brought our kids there earlier in the day on weekends. The fish tanks and ample games also help entertain them and us. * New seating. Akasha has new indoor seating options, with more couches and less high tops. I like the vibe this brings. Akasha is a chill brewery. It's been a part of many of our life events (birthdays, rehearsal dinner and baby shower). And we'd love it to be for many more to come.

Upon opening the door we were immediately greeted with the smell of cat urine, looked to the left and there was a cat wandering around the bar. The bartender was nice enough but low and behold, he sits a beer on the bar after pouring it and we see the cat now walking on the bar, my buddy had to grab his beer quickly as the cat was getting ready to take a drink out of it. And the fish tank, it was pretty gross, it looked like it had never been cleaned. I doubt there was anything living it it but we couldn't tell since the water was a solid green color. Looked thru the window into the brewing area and first thing we see is a bag of cat food on one of the carts in that area. It had to be the nastiest place I have been to for a long time. I would have felt cleaner having a drink in a flying J bathroom. There are other reviews talking about the cat urine smell and the fish tank so obviously the owner couldn't care less. It's a shame as it's a great location, I bet the health department would shut them down immediately if they were to swing by.

Located in the north Limestone (NoLi) area of Lexington, along with several other small local businesses, this is a unique venue surrounded by many interested places to visit. If you aren't a kombucha fan please just give it a try. Thrive has some of the best flavors I've tried anywhere. You might be surprised to find you DO actually like kombucha when you find a flavor that fits you.

They had a variety of flavors available, and since I can't handle caffeine, I opted for two of the flavors: the elderberry tonic and the ruby cascade. They had really fun, natural flavors that all sounded very appealing before a day full of hiking, I'll add. So great placement in that coffee shop! The flavors were tasty. I loved that they aren't the super smooth, no "tang" flavor that too many kombucha companies are going for now. It's fermented - it needs some sour to it. So, thank you for keeping that in there. I purchased them in April and was happy to see that they don't expire till June and they're in glass bottles, so they also have a great, long shelf life. Look forward to eventually stopping into this place in Lex some time...unless they wanna start offering products in Indiana. ;)

The food was also very good, made fresh and full of flavor. You really can't go wrong with a panini.
