The sandwich had a nice spice level and was delicious. Beer here is always fresh and tasty. Love the overall atmosphere of this place and just a fun space. Service is always on point and bar staff are friendly and helpful with making food and drink selections. The mambo Italiano pizza was terrific later and a great amount of toppings. Crust was also nice and chewy with great flavor. Isn't it just the best thing to stumble upon a great restaurant? Noble Funk wasn't on my radar when I visited Louisville, but now it is! I just happened to drive by and see a restaurant with abundant outdoor seating. What's this place? I though. It turns out, this is a great family-friendly restaurant with lots of cool places to sit, indoors and outdoors. We sat inside, and grabbed a board game to take to our table. They have a few to choose from -- we got Scrabble. The restaurant itself has lots of seating options, from quiet nooks surrounded by greenery to bar seating. To get your food and drinks, you order at the bar, and then someone brings your food to you. Wood-fired pizzas are their thing here, so of course we got a couple of 'em. The pepperoni pizza was amazing. The pepperonis on the pizza are the kind that become like little cups when baked, and hold in all of that juicy, golden grease. Yum yum yum. Betty White holds a special place in my heart, so we ordered The Betty White: a white sauce base, roasted red potatoes, bacon, onions and mushrooms. I don't know what all of those ingredients have to do with Betty White (maybe because it has a white sauce on it?), and it's nothing like crawling under the covers and eating Velveeta right out of the box, but it was fabulous, nonetheless. The pizzas are definitely big enough for two people to share. Noble Funk is a brewery, so they make their own beer here. I got the Daytime Dreamsicle, partially because it's an IPA and I love IPAs, and also because it has amarillo in it, which is intriguing. It was great! You can ask for samples of their beer, if you're not sure what you might want. Noble Funk has great food, great beer, a casual and family-friendly atmosphere, and plenty of space to spread out. What a great restaurant to come across accidentally during my visit to Louisville. read more

Writing to add some additional kudos for Noble Funk for being such a great community gathering space. When I most recently came back, again for an event with my mom group, I also noticed that Louisville Silent Book Club was gathering at the same time (a group I also hope to become a part of soon -- just gotta make it to a meet-up!). There was a study group and some other gatherings. And it just filled my heart to see all these folks coming together. The place was bustling with so much good energy. Noble Funk took a large space and made it inviting and perfect for coming together. Add to that delicious beers and pizza, and it's just so fun. It's great for families, as they can carve out space for kiddos to run around. It's good for solos too. Just a gem through and through. More folks should give them a try. read more

Although it appears light, it contained the darker, hoppier flavor I was looking for. The IPA was also a favorite. The food didn't blow us away, but we were thankful to have the option to stay for dinner. Each item we ordered, I wouldn't recommend or order again. Maybe we'll find something more flavorful and impressive during our next visit. Pizza: Tuscan Chicken. Much drier than expected and lacked flavor. The balsamic is only a drizzle and we needed more for dipping. Very salty, as if they sprinkled sea salt on top before walking it out. Pretzel bites with beer cheese. Meh, good snack with beer, but seemed like frozen bread heated up and a bit rubbery. The sandwich, also average. Shredded beef, like a French Dip. Had some seasoned veggie bits on it and au jus for dipping. Came with a bag of chips. Service was friendly and helpful. I was there during a fundraiser and the kitchen was busy. They handled the crowd well, cleaning off tables and our plates. Patio is fun and they have lots of bunny decor and a ping pong table. Space could easily host small or large parties. In town and my friend brought us here on a Friday evening. YES! We made it before the rush. I love that it is not only huge but spacious. Very group friendly as there are plenty of tables seating 6 plus people. Everything we had was super fresh and delicious. I had the pesto veggie calzone, I'm pretty sure I licked my plate. At our table we had two different calzones, two different pizzas, and salad. The salad was a work of art AND delicious. It was called moon something. The bathroom was not only beautiful but smelled amazing. Super clean, spacious with multiple stalls. Self serve fountain drinks. My friend runs a nonprofit and they've hosted a fundraiser for her. So much to say about this fun brewery in Louisville. As a sour beer lover, I'm always happy with the sours they offer on tap. I tried the Blueberry Papaya sour and the Peachy Cobblaration during the burger week kickoff and they were refreshing and flavorful. Ambiance is awesome! I was very surprised and impressed. For those who've lived in Louisville, this is the old second street Kroger. The outdoor area has some game areas on AstroTurf. It's very well done and kid friendly. The indoors has great decor and plenty of seating. If you have a large group or want a secluded table, they have it. They also have a pizza oven. We tried the pepperoni and the Tuscan chicken. I was very impressed by both. The Tuscan chicken was way better than I expected. I'm not even a cruat guy, but I ate it all. Had a very dissatisfying first visit. The space is pleasant but the service was deplorable. We were treated like we were subpar beings. The waitress was very rude and did not care when we expressed her lack of adequate customer service. She ignored one person in our party to assist others with a smile. I would say I am not a big beer fan but have always found a sweet cider or drink that is on the fruitier side such as More Cider which has an apple crisp flavor. Now, the vibe is very industrial but also cozy. There are couches/ big soft chairs where you can lounge around. They are known for their pizza and I haven't had a pizza I didn't like. I have yet to have a bad experience with any of the workers. Being a brewery they naturally have some house beers. I am admittedly not a big beer guy but they have a handful That I'm ok with trying. One called passion potion I particularly enjoy. They do have a small food menu that includes pizza. I'm a big pizza guy so you already know I was trying that. The pizza for being a place that specializes in brew is very good. Larger and more substance than I was expecting and a nice cheese and sauce combo. A very good pie. I've had pizzerias that weren't as good. My wife on one occasion ordered the gumbo and was very satisfied. So it's safe to say everything off the food menu we have had has been a thumbs up. Noble Funk is such a cool downtown brewery! It's a renovated old Kroger grocery store, which is evident in its industrial design. The interior has huge indoor spaces with soaring ceilings and garage doors separating key areas. Modernizing the design are clean white walls filled with greenery and cozy seating. It's a great place to enjoy their craft brews and delicious pizza! The "Date Night" pizza was our favorite, with a roasted crispy seasoned crust as the star of the show. This is better than Blaze Pizza and one of the best-tasting crusts around! The toppings were a unique blend of sweet dates, spicy mayo, and garlic aioli with spinach greens. The bartender Jackson was attentive and fun to talk to, giving us beer recommendations and a history of the brewery. He heard me mention wheat beers and had us try a lovely golden Hefeweizen. We also loved the sour Passion Potion, with notes of passionfruit and papaya. In summary, I recommend you check it out if you're seeking a fun beer flight in a modern neat space. What a cool brewery that I hadn't heard much about, but have visited twice now. Large open space, lots of outdoor games and very spacious interior. We stopped by for drinks on a Saturday night, and were able to grab a large table near the front. Our group ventured inside and out playing games and just generally hanging out. It's such a neat location! We ordered lots of food while we were there, and happened to lucky out on speciality pies Bulgogi pizza and crab Rangoon pizza, which we had to try. Both we delicious! The crust was thin and crunchy and the pies had the perfect amount of toppings. Also, the brewery is very kid friendly. Lots of places to explore and different seating areas. My wife and I finally visited Noble Funk Brewing and found it to be #1 pizza restaurant in Louisville. There are many other pizza places in Louisville, but not as highly rated and we see why. Wife and I definitely plan to cross the river again to dine at NFB again. NFB definitely has the parking and outside activities, like few others. Inside has the BEST atmosphere of any pizza restaurant I ever dined in. So many unique seating arrangements to choose from. My wife and I got a table for four in a corner. It was VERY comfortable. We saw a glassed in meeting room with about 10 people inside. It looked like a great spot to gather with a lot more people also. It is airy with the high ceilings and there were fans giving a slight breeze that felt good. There is LOTS of natural light pouring in the windows and I could see the old time light bulbs that would illuminate at night. I chose NFB due to all the 5 star Yelp reviews. I expected a great experience and it was. We entered and first was greeted by Lewis at the pizza making area. Lewis is very personable and we talked for several minutes before wife and I went the bar to place our order. Keith took our order and was very helpful with his knowlege of pizzas and beverages. I asked for something specific that wasn't on the menu, but Keith knew just what would be to my liking. They usually have a homemade ginger kombucha, but not on this visit. We found a nice place to sit where we could take in a lot of the restaurant, but you can't see it ALL from anywhere. This used to be a Kroger store. It wasnt long before our pizza arrived, delivered by Keith, along with plates, napkins and flatware. Wife and I ate 1 or 2 slices of the pie when we got a visit from Lewis to see if our pie was to our liking. We had a robust conversation regarding the restaurant and what goes into making these fantastic pizzas. I told him he did a wonderful job. The pizzas are great and tastier than most any other pizza place. He said they have some secrets that go into the dough. I have no doubt about that. I eat the crust when it is GOOOD and this was. No crust was left behind. Lewis made sure I knew Derek was also baking the pizzas. I stopped by on our way out to look closer at their operation which includes a brick oven which reminds me they have a 100 health score. In closing, I look forward to dining here many times again and bring family and friends in the future. NFB has the ambiance, service and food deserving 5 STARS and repeat visits. Returned for lunch today with 2 of our grandsons. Oldest grandsons birthday meal. We ordered five Pizzas for the four of us. Pizzas ordered: 2 Diablo Chicken, 2 Margherita and 1 Betty White. Our oldest grandson and I both had the Diablo. Younger grandson had the Betty White, and wife had a Margherita. We ordered an extra Margherita knowing one Pizza wouldn't be enough for the oldest grandson. All Pizzas were very good to excellent. The Diablo has some real heat (spicy) so be careful if you're not in to heat. Can soft drinks ($1.50). I had a Nitro Brown Ale. Wow it was delicious. I finished with a German Pilsner which helped with the heat of the Diablo Pizza. Both beers were outstanding! Very happy to also report the music was at a very reasonable level this trip. I'll admit to being conflicted from the start about Noble Funk. On paper, the positives are obvious -- a family-friendly local gathering spot, activating a neglected space in the urban core. If you were to plop this down at the corner of Market and Hancock, it would look like Rabbit Hole and Garage Bar swallowed each other up, and it would be mobbed. But no, it's south of Broadway, a place that needs housing density, tree groves, and a real grocery store more than it needs this. But we'll gladly take a brewery over a Dollar Tree or a vacant expanse of blacktop. And so how has this turned out? Well, the beer is solidly good, and despite the name, not especially out-there. But as it turns out, I really come here for the pizza, which is exceptional. We knew that when Ten20 announced their partnership with Mozza Pi that their pizza would be a reason to go there. But I might just come here for the food as much as for the beer. And I'll also admit that I was more than a little skeptical about the vibe. The decor is a little more hotel-lobby than I prefer, but if you look around, you'll find comfortable seating and spots that feel more intimate. And on a nice day, the outdoor space is a lot of fun, and great for kids. In short, I'm happy to have Noble Funk in rotation, and I'm pleased with what they've been able to do with a weird building in a weird spot. read more

Wow! This brewery used to be a Kroger that went out of business. You wouldn't know that if you were from out of town. No detail was spared in the design choices. The bar and food menu accommodate for a variety of tastes. It's a great place to lounge around, with such a nice vibe created from the number of plants throughout. Also, it's a great place for an event. It's well staffed and the the bartenders are really attentive. Not only did they create something for beer lovers but they transformed what could have otherwise become a decaying building and urban blight. Truly wow. Give it a try on a week day or weekend. I probably shouldn't have jumped to conclusions on my first review of the place. Yes they had problems while having a soft opening but, what place doesn't? I have been extremely happy with my visits after that here. I'm also impressed with the food here as well. I've only had their Flatbread with cheese and their Cheese Pizza. They weren't burnt at the bottom like my pizza was at soft opening. The pizza is actually very good and so is the Flatbread. Sometimes they'll have specialty pizzas kinda like a pizza of the month special. Follow them on Facebook for the specialty Pizzas. The beer. I love my Golden Oldie the original since opening. They also have a PB&J flavored one and I forget the name of it. Those 2 beers are my absolute favorites and I have yet to try the other ones. Staff also doesn't seem too stressed out like before. They have really done a remarkable job of converting the old Kroger grocery store into a new sleek and attractive looking brewery. They have a good selection of beer plus a number of reasonably priced snacks such as cheese bread and flat bread with veggies and dip. I we both enjoyed the flat the best. The cheese bread was more like a cheese pizza without sauce but was a bit salty. Still, overall it was a pleasant experience and we had leftovers to boot. read more

Headed back from St. James Art Fair I realized I had parked next to Noble Funk brewery. Now, since I don't live in this area this wasn't really an area that I frequented. Well after going to Noble Funk brewery, I think I'm gonna have to change that. Noble Funk has a very relaxing space. They've created a very airy open atmosphere along with some very cool plant walls. Plants help divide up the area in the seating space. It welcomes you into the space so nicely. The brewery has quite a few options and beers are always five dollars which is pretty great. They also have a pizza place that has some really tasty looking options with woodfired pizzas. They just started lunch menus and I honestly think it would be a great option to go from work one day to get a pizza and hang out. It's just a relaxing serene location.
