Shippenport brewing is a downtown Louisville bar that is located right outside of the Museum row area of the city. The establishment does have some smaller on site parking but you will likely have to street park. Interior is wide open and features what I would call a traditional bar or brewery look to it. I've Visited this establishment. A few times and both my visits I actually received pretty sub par service. The workers in my experience seem very overwhelmed and just not very friendly. Which is the opposite of what one expects from a bartender. I'm not a huge beer or ipa guy but Thai establishment does have a good variety to choose from. So plenty of options. Atmosphere in the establishment on both visits was easy going and lighthearted so it is a good place to hang out and relax and enjoy a drink and some food. They do have food options but I've only ever had a bag of chips. They use a chip company called "hen of the woods" which I would describe as kettle Chips. Pretty solid. Overall a solid spot as not too many bars Exist on that end of museum row and they have a nice atmosphere and solid options. Hopefully the staffing can work on friendliness and being attentive to match the vibe the patrons have.

I've been to Shippingport twice now and it never ceases to amaze me. Their staff is exceptional and the brewmasters really know what they are doing and make incredible beer (and this is coming from someone who isn't a huge craft beer person). I have tried brews I never even imagined I would like and it turns out I loved them! Can we also talk about the spice vending machine they have?!?! I have never seen anything like this before but what an amazing idea!! The Pleyful Strong Ale is a Brew the Yelp Elites voted on and was surprisingly very tasty! It definitely had a coffee after taste to it, but was light and smooth on the pallet. I really enjoyed it! I also tried the Midtvinter which was a Sour Ale, but don't let the Sour label fool you. It was sold to me as more of a cocktail beer and it was exactly that! Light, smooth and crisp! I definitely can't wait to go back (hopefully tomorrow) for another one bc it was just that good! Seriously. If you've never been, it's definitely worth a try! You won't regret it!

This place is a hidden gem. I had never heard of Shippingport until a Yelp event. I have since returned to try their others beers with my partner. Everything we've had so far has been delicious. I'm a huge fan of the kombucha (this is my new obsession). Please support this business! Plus, they have a spice vending machine. Filling up on spices and beer? Good times!

I recently paid my first visit to Shippingport Brewery...and I'm ashamed to say that it took me so long. Shippingport is located in a part of town that I don't know that I've ever driven, so Waze had to give me some assistance because I had NO idea where it was located. I made it, even though I had to drive around the block to make sure I parked where I should. Sporting 10 taps of house-brewed brews, the Pleyful Ale was my favorite, while the Midtvinter made a helluva showing. What I really loved about this venue is that it's so...genuine. It's not floor-to-ceiling lights and screens and sports and décor. It's laid-back, unpretentious, and genuine. Like going to a friend's house to hang out and have a few beers. The staff is SUPER awesome and friendly, and if you have questions...ANY questions at all...about their beers, they've got that covered. There's none of this "Hold on, let me ask (insert person's name here) and I'll be right back." I think each and every employee has vested interest in making Shippingport as genuine and awesome as it can be. One thing I did NOT expect was a fresh spice vending machine! I was, like...WHAT?!?! It's kind of like Post-It® Notes. You didn't realize you needed them until found them...and now you want them everywhere. While I genuinely apologize for not getting here before now, you can count on seeing me again soon!

Another Yelp reviewer said it best: come for the beer, stay for the food. The beer is amazing & the food is incredible. I had the Eddy which was perfect for a warm spring day. Their special sandwich of the day was a Hawaiian Sandwich it was absolutely delicious. I also had the Reg & Sweet Potato Mash... I ate it all & got a container to go too. They also have a dog-friendly patio out back (which is where we sat). There is a large tent with tables & chairs if you want to sit in some shade. But if you want to feel the sun on your skin, there are chairs & tables for that too.

Wow, I mean WOW. Delicious beer and the food is also pretty damn remarkable. Did I mention the prices are INCREDIBLE?! It's about time that a brewery opened up here! The brewers and staff are kind and friendly. No matter what beer or food item you order, there is no doing it wrong! Just go, go, GO! You'll thank me.

So this has only been my 2nd visit here. I actually first came here when the brewery part opened in summer 2021, I believe Sally Forth kitchen was already in place. I have heard the sandwiches are really good and I have yet to try. This brewery is located in the Portland area of Louisville ( an area I don't venture much to). It looks like a warehouse but it has its name on front and side. There is street parking available. The inside is well lit but almost like a fancy restaurant type of lit. Not too bright not too dark. Amelia owner/founder happened to be here this recent visit was very helpful and even recommended a beer that was not gonna be available for very long for my flight of 4. I really liked the Christmas ale which might have been the one Amelia had recommended but I can't recall, I did like the Marge which is their signature drink. I do plan to come back here to try the sandwiches since that is what a lot of people do talk about here. I also give props to Amelia for her hospitality during my visit. I may not come to the Portland Neighborhood often but, I would definitely come to the Portland area to come to Shippingport. If y'all hadn't been here yet, Amelia and her staff are awesome.

A new, up & coming brewery in the Portland neighborhood, and (at the time of writing this) the only brewery west of 9th Street. If you're new to Louisville or unfamiliar with the city generally, west of 9th Street has historically been redlined, marginalized, and under funded. So seeing some development and investment in an oft forgotten part of the city is a very welcome site to behold. About the brewery - they make great beer! The selection is quite limited for now. IPA, stout, pilsner, Kolsch, cider... That's about it. It's to be expected, given their size and how new they are relatively. But I've had all their beer and it is all very drinkable. As I say - they're still brand new, and the brewery itself is really cute. It was very obviously made and furnished with love. I really like that Amelia (owner) appears to have gotten the tables and chairs from Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace or yard sales or something. It is a proper use of repurposed furniture. Love it. They have food! Nothing crazy, but food nonetheless. The grilled cheese is kind of fire though. Please head down to Shippingport and support this awesome space.

Loved the atmosphere here. A mix and match of antique tables and chairs. So cozy!

Hands down the best Kolsch I have ever had! Cozy, warm atmosphere with friendly service and great beer to boot! My husband and I got the pleasure of meeting Amelia, the owner. We really enjoyed hearing about her travels around the country to come back home and open this awesome brewey in 2020. I will definitely be back when I am in Louisville again!

Park along the street of what could be considered the calm area of Downtown Louisville. Street Parking on most blocks and rarely any trouble finding a spot. Walk through the Pedestrian Door or the Garage Door if the Ohio Valley weather is treating you right. Behold, your new favorite Micro Brewery. Amelia and squad have outdone themselves with creating the perfect sud sippin' atmosphere and brews. Oh yeah, and mouth-watering pressed sandwiches accompanied by a variety of soups and wholesome sides. If you see their Brown Butter Rice Crispy Treats, add it to your tab! I love to sit at the bar with my partner and watch the flow of the kitchen and taps. Normally a sweet conversation happens with the Owner and others tending the bar. We enjoyed a "Crank the Petals", and an unbelievable Hazy Pale Ale made with Hibiscus. In addition to that brew, we had a "Wolf Who Sends Flowers" Foraged Ale. Both were like none other when it comes to beer. Be sure to pop in on a Thursday for Trivia!

We got a few drinks and some appetizers while we were at the shipping port brewing station. Overall it's pretty solid experience my beer was pretty darn good and the atmosphere the place was also well-established and rocksolid.

With so many delicious breweries in Louisville, it's going to seem like a bold statement to say you ever have a favorite but this is my happy place! Shippingport is the coziest of the atmospheres with some of the tastiest beer selections out there. I feel pretty confident to say that anyone could find something to make their brewed tastebuds happy. It seems that we always wind up at Shippingport on the gloriously sunny days when we can enjoy the back patio with our pup or on the chilly dreary days when you can sit cozily inside and enjoy some heart and tummy warming soups and sandwiches. My favorite combo is the tomato soup and grilled cheese. Also, if they have those homemade Brown Buttered Rice Krispie Treats by the check out - do yourself a favorite and grab one of those baddies.

So cute! Reminds me of breweries in Colorado (this is a compliment!). Small, but a few tables outside as well as indoor seating. Currently 5 options for beverages on tap - 3 beers, 1 hard cider, 1 hard seltzer. We did a "flight" of all of them (just order a small of all, no official flight yet). Enjoyed the KY Bock best for beer and the most surprising was the seltzer since it had kiefer lime! Food looked good, although my bite of the hummus sandwich was only ok - bread needed to be toasted and it needed a little more kick of something. Friends who got the food liked it all, little things were off, but will improve with time. Parked in the lot next door, but street parking looks easy enough as well. Give them some support and try it out for yourself!

It's creative with a sense of joy, irreverent, one of a kind. And I'm happy to see it last in its spot next to Slugger Field. I got to visit recently when a bunch of friends were in town. We ended up visiting during trivia night, which added a fun twist to the experience. Our team, The Electric Sheep, got second place! And along with the fun vibes, we had great food and beer. I got The Smokehouse OG, which is its pulled pork sandwich served on a Cuban roll. If you like pulled pork, you'll like this sandwich, though typical to their fashion, AtG puts a twist on it with its Brown Note BBQ Sauce. We had to get the pork belly on a stick -- a menu fave. And for my beer, I tried the El Nopal Mexican lager (cracked up at the name) and Cold Ass Beer red ale. AtG is a Louisville original that's not to be overlooked.

I got the burger in special, the Dirty Burger. Pretty standard burger dressed with their "not so secret" sauce and fancy pickle. Super solid, very well executed. In the words of Samuel L. Jackson, this is a tasty burger! The location is pretty tough to beat with how convenient it is, and how close it is to all downtown has to offer. The atmosphere is industrial but relaxed. The staff was so wonderful and personable. Will definitely be back!
