This company was sent out by DTE to fix a leak in our freezer. They didn't tell me a timeframe until the day of. The guy who came out was here for a few minutes. He said they needed to order a part. No one called to tell me if the part was in. I called after 5 days and they said it was in but that they needed to have the fridge pulled out and unplugged for 24+ hours. I asked if they could have a technician come out and do this before I emptied the entire fridge and freezer. They said no. I had a family member help. I called the company back to tell them they could do the repair and the person told me they didn't see anything in for me. After some more poking around the person said they did have it. They came back and were able to replace the part, after again asking me to leave a full day open. When I told the tech about the situation he said they were busy. It seems to be fixed for now but this company could be more organized. Also a 2 hour time block would be helpful vs staying home all day and not knowing if they would be here morning or afternoon. read more

The guy came out and didnt even assess the dishwasher. He said it was seal. It wasnt the seal. We went and got one. It still leaked, turns out it was the screws on the side of the door. I called Kenwhirl first thing Monday morning & their repairman were all booked for Monday, but they would call if there was a cancellation. They called back a half an hour later & were out here within the hour! My repairman, Jeff, was very knowledgeable, friendly, efficient & professional. I had a front loading washing machine repaired and the issue was a drain pump. The technician replaced the part and 60 days later I went to drain the filter and clean it as per instructions of the manufacturer. The tube that is used to drain it would not pull out or drain. only way to drain it was to take the filter out and it flooded the laundry room floor. Kenwhirl will not cover the technicians mistake because it is past the 30 days. So now I have to pay another $100 for the tech to come out and more $$ on top of it for it to be fixed. I am retracting my comment about damage to my freezer door. Turns out the cheapness of the model of my refrigerator is the cause of the holes. I haven't seen this kind of venting in a freezer door in my entire life, but when I had the door replaced, the new one had similar holes punched in different spots. The holes are punched so randomly it looks like damage I've seen previously from an ice pick. I still think the agent wasn't all that polite, perhaps he was having a bad day. And I wasn't terribly impressed by the lack of investigation in regards to the burn't paper. But the freezer and refrigerator still continue to operate properly since they were repaired, so I wanted to give a better rating to reflect both my incorrect accusation, and the quality of the work. read more

I needed a GE dishwasher Door switch , nobody had this part available , and I would have to wait anywhere between 3 to 5 days with prices ranging from $ 16 to $ 38 , Kenwhirl was able to get it the next day for t $15 , I couldn't go wrong, they were very fair, and they did not over charge me . My rating is based on Integrity. We had a repair on our Kitchen Aid dishwasher. On of the two counterweight cable pulleys broke and the very heavy door dropped down narrowly missing slamming in to my leg. A Repair technician came out to replace one of the two pulleys ( there are 2, a left and a right). I questioned the repair man, saying "if the right one broke, the left will be the next to go. He refused to replace the other side. A few days later I called Whirlpool, who owns Kitchen Aid. They informed me that they ship out the pulleys in "pairs". So the repair man lied. Whirlpool explained replacing both left and right is similar to doing both left and right when you do the breaks on your car. When we schedule an appliance repair, we are in the companies hands. I expect honesty & integrity. Not a snow-job. By the way Whirlpool, a Michigan based company was great. read more

I went to these guys based on how long they've been in the neighborhood. Not a smart move. I called them in to take a look at a refrigerator that wasn't cooling as well as it should be. After 10 minutes of work, the service technician now had the refrigerator not cooling AT ALL. Charge: $65. After waiting a week with a dead refrigerator while Kenwhirl tried to find the part, they finally arrived (albeit a day and a half later than scheduled). Upon examining the refrigerator again, the service tech said we now needed another $800 part to get my previously working fridge to work again. He did have the good sense not to ask for a second service fee, so one star for that. Avoid at all costs. read more

Called them for service on Friday, got an appointment on the following Wednesday. Told them exactly what the problem was. Guy comes over and sure enough, his diagnosis matches mine. I told them what the issue was and they don't bring the part with them. The guy is in my house 5 minutes charges me $90 for a service call and tells me he will be back the following Monday, and he will charge me another $160. I ordered the part on the internet, saving $35 and fixed it myself using a YouTube video On Saturday. read more

We had their repairman out twice and he kept telling us that there was nothing wrong with our washer. When I showed him how it stopped on spin on his 2nd visit, and asked if it was something mechanical, he said no, that nothing was wrong and recommended putting pads under the washer feet. I went out and got something to put under the feet, and still had issues. We called for a second opinion and found out it was something mechanical and the tub shocks were worn out, along with a couple of other mechanical issues. We took time off work to meet your guy, bought things that the other repairman said were unnecessary, and could not use our washer for a couple of weeks. Your guy was rude and acted like we were crazy about the machine not working, and said we could call for a 2nd opion if we did not like it. I will never have these guys at our house again. read more

I do all of my own appliance repairs (if they aren't covered under a warranty). I also do repairs for family & friends, if asked upon too. I've been going to Kenwhirl Appliance for many, many...many years. I do not know any of the staff on a personal basis, but I have yet to ever have a bad experience there. They normally have whatever replacement part, in stock. If that part needs to be ordered, it's normally a very quick process & time frame to receive the ordered part. Depending on the counter person working at the time, they are usually helpful with repair process suggestions, if asked upon. The replacement parts are always of higher quality, if not OEM replacement parts. The prices are usually comparable to on-line part prices too...without the added shipping & handling charges, that can cost as much, if not more than the part itself! I don't mind paying a little bit more to have a store like this, available when needed. I'm one to always Support Small Businesses...and 'Mom & Pop shops' whenever/however possible! Supporting a store like this, that concentrates one one genre, as this type of business does...is very important to me. And Kenwhirl Appliance always gets my business, each & every time one of the appliances goes kaput on me! I have never purchased a used appliance or ever used their mobile repair service, so I cannot comment on those services. But I would like to think that they would be handled just as well, as the over-the-counter sales is done. read more

Rude service rep. Acted like he couldn't be bothered with my problem. My appliance is under warranty.Problem is ice cream wasn't freezing and freezer was not holding a 0 degree temp. Instead of checking to see if the thermostat was working right, he cranked up the settings to the highest. He told me the freezer doesn't completely freeze all ice creams because of the sugar content. It's frozen at the store: a-hole. I called Whirlpool and they told me the same crap. Horrible service. I have DTE protection plan and they had kenwhirl come to my house to repair my fridge and dishwasher. They come on schedule and the technician was able to figure out the problems. In order to fix the problem they needed to order the parts. They forget to order the parts. I called and complained. It ended up taking them 3 weeks to come back and fix it. The still haven't received all the parts. I would not recommend for any service. read more

I am generous with my review in giving them a 2 star. Not to question the repair which has not been completed but the time and process to order a part. I Was told 2-3 days for part be delivered. I called in 3 days only to be told the part was on backorder and would not be in for 6 more days. Nobody from Kenwhirl called to tell me about the delay. I called Whirlpool direct and was told that part was in stock and ready for delivery. When I called Kenwhirl to ask what was up they said they do not go direct to whirlpool but a outside supplier. The supplier was out of stock and had to order part from Whirlpool which had to be delivered to supplier then to Kenwhirl. What ! The Gentleman that I spoke with 4 days after the first visit was very nice and said he would put an ASAP order on my repair but that is not until the part arrives at their location. I haven't had the chance to review the repair because it has not been done yet. Facts: Washer broke Saturday 7/15 Tech arrives 7/19 Follow up-Self 7/21 Earliest repair possible 7/27? Call 7/22 for explanation why part was not ordered Direct. Promise to complete job ASAP possibly 7/25 if part arrives from supplier. I get my parts from Kenwhirl and I've always been happy with the price and how quickly they can get the parts if not in stock (usually 1 day turnaround). I've had them let me know when parts might still be under warranty instead of just pushing through the sale - saved me quite a bit of money. Worst customer service. Had to wait a week for an appointment. Confirmed with tech morning of the time frame AND that he would call en route. No call. Did he knock? We'll never know. Next thing I know, a call from receptionist I have to reschedule? I think NOT. Condescending receptionist with no interest in problem solving. I took the day off work for this? Have a repairman coming from another company today, who is happy to be coming and half the service fee. I recommend you do not call Kenwhirl. Very, very rude service rep. came to my house used a heat gun to fix a seal it didn't work tried to get them to come back & wouldn't work with me for the time, just asking for a half hour so I could pick up my Grand kids & would not work with me at all & canceled one appt, with Maytag with out me knowing it. Lowe's contracted Kenwhirl to repair my nearly new washing machine. I called for service on May 5th, Kenwhirl came out that Friday the 9th. The repair window was between 8 am and noon, the tech called at 8 am and said it would be close to 11 am only to show up at 1:20 pm with no apology. The machine was recalibrated which didn't fix the problem and it still didn't work. I called Kenwhirl back at 3:30 pm after attempting to wash a load of clothes, only to find out it was still broken. One week later they said they "don't know what happened ordering the part" because they didn't have it and were now going to put "a rush order in with another supplier". It took until May 28th for them to get the part and get back to repair my washing machine. That was 3 weeks from first visit until it was repaired. If you have all the time in the world you've found the the right place. The washing machine is fixed after they replaced the main computer component but I wouldn't refer Kenwhirl to a friend. read more
