Update: hair is officially damaged. I need to do the big chop because some (most areas) broke off. First time was great with Arissa. Shedding was minimal and my hair felt and looked healthy. No complaints. Second time with a newer woman the results weren't so great. LOTS of shedding now and my hair looks limp and lifeless. I would highly recommend this place for keratin treatment. Gino, my hair dresser was really good, make sure you get your treatment for Gino only. Tell him what you are looking for and he will make sure you get the right treatment. He will explain you everything about the treatment. The treatment is so good that I also went in beach and pool and my hair were just fine but I made sure to carry my shampoo. I have tried other salons but it didn't work on my hair so I thought of giving one last try. I took my appointment for Wednesday when you get 50% off for first time customer. Good thing is that you don't have to spend a lot to try and see if this treatment works on your hair with the discount it's totally worth trying and if you like it you can spend more money as you know it will be totally worth it. I did my keratin on May 23rd with Jose. I really enjoyed my visit and my hair looked great. I bought the shampoo, conditioner, and spray... They say it lasts 4 months, however by July 4th my hair was back to frizzy and now it looks like I never did the Keratin. So it lasted about 6 weeks... There's a salon I used to go to always lasted at least 6 months... so I'm not sure if the product is diluted? But a disappointment because I was happy the day of treatment. read more

My experience was pretty stressful. First of all, be careful because google maps will direct you to their old location even when it lists the new address! This apparently has happened to several clients the past and has not been fixed - so make sure to type in the actual address rather than their name. Also, they advertise "$250 and up." I read this and figured it would be in the ballpark of $250 before the half off discount for new customers - but I was wrong! After going to the wrong place first and finally making it there (taking up a lot of my day and $ on the cab to the new destination) I was determined to get this treatment done. I was told that it would actually be $450 because my hair is long. I don't consider my hair to be excessively long to merit an extra $200 on top of what was advertised. I also do not have very thick or hard to manage hair. Since I was a new customer, I got half off of this, but then you have to pay for added expenses such as their special shampoo to make it last which is another $26.00. So I walked in thinking I was going to get half off of a $250 treatment and was expecting to pay around $125... It ended up costing me $250 not including tip or the multiple cabs due to the issue with google maps. My hair does look really good and I am happy with it. My hair dresser Jillian was also very nice, and she did ask me if I was comfortable with the price once I mentioned that the website made me think the price would be much lower. She said I am not obligated to continue to get the treatment done. I decided to anyway, because at that point I just had spent so much time trying to get there and I have limited time - so I couldn't afford to waste more time finding another place. Even though saying "$250 and up" is technically honest, I think that most people would probably assume it would be in the ballpark of that number except maybe with really hard to manage, ridiculous hair. It would be less deceiving if this company advertised a price range on their website, or if it said something like $250 for chin length hair, etc. read more

I had sky-high expectations for this place based on all the reviews, but unfortunately, this was not a good keratin experience. The technician was nice and the vibe of the place is very positive, but I could sense by the amount of product used and the amount of time it was given to set (too little on both counts) that my hair wasn't going to get all the way silky-smooth. And, in fact, after only 3 washes, I can always see some minor frizzing and hair-dents that usually occur when keratin is wearing off. Super disappointing because I was even going to come back for the outrageous amount of $350 if it would actually last me a full 4 months. I can already see this will not be the case. I have been a customer at the salon for more than a year. During this period, I have always paid $250 for keratin hair straightening treatment. In November 2015, the price was apparently raised for this service so that costs are now based on hair length. The website, which states that the baseline price is $250, does not advise that hair length will be a factor in cost. The change in price was only made known to me at the time of my appointment where I was advised that the cost for the keratin treatment would be $350 based on my hair length. It is unacceptable that the website fails to describe the new pricing metrics and only provides this information at the time of service. read more

I have been coming here for over a year and getting the standard, one-day treatment, plus haircut. Lasio products are pretty decent. Not the best I've ever used, but the Keratin treatment I used to have done is impossible to find here in NYC. So, Lasio became my second choice. My stylist, Shefvon, is a wonderful woman who is always smiling, knows everything possible about hair, and really cares. She always gives me a fantastic haircut, which gets compliments all the time. After coming here so many times, my hair has never looked or felt better! The only reason why this is not a 5-star review is the pricing. I understand that "you get what you pay for," etc. My issue is with how they changed up a really good deal they had going on. I used to get my hair cut for free with the purchase of a Keratin treatment (my treatment was about $250, not including tip) I understand that they were probably losing money on this deal, but it really was a GREAT bargain for a good product and excellent service. That being said, the do send out 10% off coupons every once in a while, which help a little bit. I'm usually here every 3-4 months, so it's not like you're breaking the bank for a monthly color session or anything like that. I just miss the little perk I had when I first started coming in! I had the Brazilian Keratine treatment done about two to three weeks ago. Let me first talk about my hair type. My hair: thick, tight curls, and of course frizz! I would go to Ouidad to get my hair cut and would use their products for curls because I found nothing else worked to tame the beast. Staff at Lasio: So friendly and really helpful! I can't remember the name of the girl who did my hair but she was so honest with me from the minute I sat down. Explaining to me that after the first treatment I would probably not see the result I wanted due to the thickness and nature of my curls. I appreciated her honesty and of course decided to proceed. I got the one day treatment because I found the price difference to not be that significant when all was said and done. I don't know what I was expecting but the process was super easy and did not hurt or burn my eyes at all! Simply shampoo/conditioner, comb out, put the stuff on with a spray bottle section by section, comb through, blow dry straight and then flat iron. I was sitting in the chair no more than an hour and a half and when all was said and done - my hair was the straightest and sofest I had ever seen! It was hard not to play with it. Now that it has been a few weeks, I will say this - I don't absolutely LOVE it - but, the reason for this is because I don't know how to manage it anymore!! I never wanted to lose my curl completely which is why I went with Keratine instead of the Japanese straightening, and now that the texture of my hair and curls are so different (not in a bad way!) I don't know how to manage it. Also, whom ever did my hair at Lasio was correct in saying, not all the frizz is gone, particularly the crown of my head where my hair is the thickest and curliest. I havent had the time to sit down and "re-learn" my hair but I do plan on doing that and will provide an update. Also, I have been straightening it and it has cut my time with the flat iron in half! I am anxious for my next treatment to hopefully see the results I am looking for and maybe someone can teach me how to style it and wear it with the curls. read more

After doing a lot of research on the best place to get the Brazilian Keratin Treatment (about 3 months of indecisiveness) I decided to go with Lasio Salons from the recommendations I found on the internet. Let me tell you I have never left so happy from a hair salon before. Everyone in there was so down-to-earth, gave me a personal consultation and took their time with me. They were very honest with me on what to expect, how my hair will turn out and how to take care of my hair. The staff was absolutely wonderful and the receptionist was very informative with any questions I had. The salon: Great location, easy to find, very cute and boutique-y! I loved that their treatment contained only .2 percent formaldeyde and it made me feel more comfortable about my initial BKT treatment. When I walked in, I was very suprised to find that they had air filters all over the place, kept the door open for ventiliation, Who would have walked in and known that 3 ladies were getting the BKT simultaneously? There was no heavy smoky air, very clean and fresh salon. My hair: I have asian hair, and wanted to reduce the frizz and the little bit of crappy "wave" I had. My hair looks wonderful, the process was less than two hours long for me (I have very long and thick hair too). The prices are not as expensive as other salons, and with the personal service you get, you feel like it was worth spending any cost at this salon. My hair is soooo shiny and silky, I can't stop touching it. It looks amazing. I can't get over the shine. I highly recommend Lasio salons, and I think I will be referring most of my friends to come here, as you get reward discounts for the more friends you refer here. I had a terrible experience with Keratin treatment from a different salon a few years back. I was really hesitant to try the process again, but my jew fro was out of control and something needed to be done. The Lasio brand is a special formula that's supposed to be healthier and safer for your hair, so I thought I'd give it a try. I decided to opt for the 4 day treatment, which means you can't wash your hair, sweat, or put it up for 4 days. A one day treatment is also available, but it's more expensive. I was lucky enough to get an appointment with Katy. Not only is she an amazing stylist, but she's also an absolute peach. She made sure to get every stray hair and cow lick by my face and was patient with my super thick hair. She explained the process and the after care really thoroughly and was happy to answer all my questions. After I washed my hair for the first time, it air dried soft, silky, and manageable. I couldn't be more pleased. The treatment should last about 3 months, and I'll definitely be coming back here for my touchups. read more

This is my third time visiting Keratin Lounge, and I'm again blown away by how amazing my hair looks. In the past when I've gotten Keratin (mainly Coppola) my hair was brittle and breaking off the second time around, which is why I stayed away from getting the treatment for so many years. With Lasio's product, however, my hair looks healthy and shiny all the time -- and I feel like it lasts much longer than the Coppola treatment even though I wash my hair pretty much every day. My hair is naturally coarse, incredibly curly and poofs out like a cotton ball at the hint of humidity in the air. Even three months after this treatment, my hair doesn't react to the elements like it used to. My hairdresser, who also does Keratin treatments for some of the clients in her salon, always asks where I get my keratin done since my hair looks and feels so great, and takes 15 minutes to blow dry (when it used to take an hour and a half, and the help of a second assistant). Please save your money and try keratin else where. Although the staff that works at the salon is super nice, the end result and management are a nightmare. I came in to get a keratin treatment. They told me I could not do highlights after two weeks of the treatment minimum. So I asked if they could do them for me. Big mistake!!! At first the stylist was annoyed that she had to do the highlights since it would be an extra 30 min. It wasn't full head just the crown, but she had an attitude... Then I got a new stylist who was really sweet. Too bad my highlights looked like tiger stripes. Ugh! Then they processed the keratin treatment for color treated hair. I followed the shampoo instructions and even spent an extra $50.00 on the products to maintain the keratin. Once I washed my hair my hair was disgustingly oily. Two weeks out my hair is still oily. It looks horrible. I had to go to another salon to get the color fixed which killed the entire keratin process. I booked a Tropic Keratin Treatment here because I wanted to stop the cycle of getting bad to decent Keratin treatments off lifebooker. I did my research and found this place and decided to give a try. I am pretty happy with the results of the treatment... it's only been a few weeks but I see a definite decrease in frizz and my hair does not seem lifeless like it has from other treatments. My stylist was a sweetheart and took her time with the process. My only gripe is that she did burn my head with the flattening iron when she was doing the very bottom at the back of my neck. It was the first area she did and it felt like it was burning but I kinda just sucked it up and thought it was really hot... but no... she burned me... 2 straight scabs formed on my scalp. Keratin treatments won't straighten your hair, they will reduce frizz and speed up your hair drying time. I think a lot of people assume it's going to be like the Brazilian Straightening treatments or Japanese - but those are really damaging. NEVER coming back! I've been a client at Lasio for several years but my last experience here was HORRIBLE. Their prices go up (I paid $400 for the treatment and $80 tip), while the quality of their work goes down (see below). For whatever reason, my last treatment didn't work: I came back home the same day with frizzy hair and curly hairline. I decided to give it some time and use Lasio products that they sell and highly recommend. 10 days later - no improvement! I emailed the studio, sent them all the pictures and received a call back. The manager started scolding me for not emailing them earlier within a 7 day time frame, and was blaming the products that I bought NOT from them but from Amazon. If I had this treatment for the first time, I would probably agree - but I've been having various keratin treatments for years (only Lasio for 4), using different products and the result SHOULD NOT look like this. Eventually, they scheduled an appointment with the technician, who recommended trimming my hair saying that the frieze is caused but the damage. Even though this didn't explain why the roots were curly and frizzy, I agreed. As you can imagine, trimming did NOT solve the problem. I called the studio once again and here is where the worst part begins! The manager was speaking to me in a very rude and disrespectful manner, saying she already "allowed" me to come in after 7 days of treatment and was offering no solution to this situation. I mentioned several times that I've been a client for years and want to get the results after paying $480. I also KNOW how a good treatment SHOULD look, and this IS NOT IT. She promised to talk to the technician and get back to me. NEVER happened. She only offered me a 15% discount (which is $60) after I sent them a complaint email saying I will post this revue. I don't know why the treatment didn't work (maybe they changed their formula to gain even more $?), but I DO NOT RECOMMEND anyone paying almost $500 for questionable, unsatisfactory results and, on top of that, horrible customer service. They don't value their customers and only care about making a profit. Good luck with that! read more

Keratin Lounge has the best hair straightener I've ever tried--by far! Before finding them, my hair was chronically frizzy, dull, and coarse. Other straighteners only made it slightly better for a few weeks. I had to pull it back & tie it up all summer long. Now, people stop me all the time to tell me how great my hair looks--all because of Lasio--which smooths & shrinks my hair follicles! The treatment lasts 3-4 mths, and, unlike other straighteners I've tried, Lasio's doesn't damage my hair or leach color out of it--and my hair's red. Trisha, my hairdresser, was very knowledgable about the Keratin treatments. She did a great job and I highly recommend her!! I went to Lasio for their Tropic Keratin treatment, which is well known in the beauty community for having 0% formaldehyde. Most Keratin treatments claim to be formaldehyde-free even if they have low levels within. Background on formaldehyde: Formaldehyde has been classified as a known human carcinogen (cancer-causing substance) by the International Agency for Research on Cancer and as a probable human carcinogen by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. It is VERY important to reserach Keratin treatments in advance to be sure you are not exposing your body to harmful levels of formaldehyde. 1% formaldehyde is the legal limit allowed per treatment, although this boundary is often disregarded by Keratin treatments reaching dangerous levels of 5-10%. Lasio's Keratin Tropic treamtent has 0% formaldehyde and their other Keratin treatments do not exceed ~.02%. Thanks, Lasio!! read more

I had a great experience at the keratin lounge! For the past year I was going to a different salon where I received the keratin treatment but was never satisfied with the results. Liz who did my color was the absolute nicest and made me feel so comfortable! I am so happy Vivienne did my keratin! She was very pleasant and extremely knowledgeable! She listened to me and understood my hair concerns and needs and made sure I left satisfied. She gave me tips on how to make my keratin last and how to style my hair. I really appreciated everything she told me! When I washed my hair and styled it on my own I couldn't be happier! It took me no time to blow dry and I didn't even need to use a flat iron!! I'm a convert! I'm obsessed with my hair since having the keratin treatment done by Naomi. It's soft, silky, smooth, manageable, and virtually frizz free! It looks and feels so healthy. Just had 4th visit to get tropic/tropical (?) keratin treatment. I have had Brazilian straightened at 3 other places - whatever I could find on groupon or gilt that had good reviews. My fine but plentiful hair always ended up stick straight plastered to head, an improvement from the frizzy curly high maintenance mess I had before but not ideal. While complaining one day to my beloved hair stylist she mentioned a client that has similar hair and just got the lasio tropic(al). I finally bit the expensive bullet and went to Lasio. Definitely the best results, hair is straight with some body, 3 minutes of hair drying when I wash it and my bangs look great not like crazy straw sprouting straight from head. After doing a lot of research on the Brazilian Straightening treatment, I went with Lasio for their expertise in the field. Ultimately I was satisfied with the process although 2 things stand out that will make me question coming back to get the treatment there. 1. They offer 10% off for walk-ins, if I'd known that I wouldn't have booked an appointment for such an expensive treatment. 2. The price for my hair was only $50 short of the highest cost possible (I did the 1-day treatment). I have just below shoulder length, medium to thin wavy hair. I think that price was too expensive for the service and for my hair length/condition. It makes me rethink becoming a repeat customer, as she let me know the price would increase if my hair became any longer. All in all I'm glad I did it, but I will either try for their discount price or will look elsewhere, as it's too expensive to do at Lasio repeatedly (for my wallet at least) read more

I got the Keratin Tropic treatment by Jose in the fall and overall it was a great experience. Their receptionists respond quickly via phone and email and are very informative. Making an appointment was easy and they were very flexible. Everyone at the salon was really friendly and accommodating. They hang up your coat, offer you drinks, and even give you a complimentary hand massage while you're getting your hair washed! Jose was great and ran me through exactly what results to expect from Keratin Tropic to make sure that was the treatment I wanted. The whole process took just over two hours, as they told me it would. He also gave me a free hair trim at the end. I was pretty comfortable throughout, however my eyes did sting pretty badly at a few points from the fumes. With the Tropic you can wash it out immediately after if you want, which they offered to do for me, or you can leave it in up to 24 hours. I had somewhere to be so I opted not to have my hair washed there. If you choose to keep it in, you can't tie your hair up, put any pins/clips in, put your hair behind your ears, or do anything that could leave a crease on your hair until you wash it out because the mark could remain in your hair. I washed it out about 12 hours later and let my hair air dry. I was concerned at first because my ends were EXTREMELY broken and frayed, especially in the front. I took a scissor and snipped off the broken ends myself and that seemed to solve the problem. Everything else was pretty much exactly how they described it would be. Even though the Keratin Tropic eliminates 100% of your frizz while allowing you to maintain most of your natural wave- it does dry almost pin straight for about the first week. After that my wave started to come back but still no frizz. Three months later and I'm thrilled with the results! I have all of my natural wave back and still no frizz! I've saved so much time and stress by not having to worry about flat ironing my frizzy front pieces or my hair getting extremely poofy and frizzy with even the slightest bit of humidity in the air like it used to. I will definitely be returning to Lasio for continued keratin treatments any time I notice my frizz coming back, as a matter of fact I can't imagine ever NOT having keratin in my hair again! read more

I was referred to Lasio through a friend, after having a bad keratin experience a year ago and being fearful of the treatment since. My hair was extra frizzy and course so I took my friend's advice that Lasio is the best and booked an appointment. Katy did my treatment and she was amazing. Super down to earth and totally understood what I wanted. Everyone in the salon was really sweet. The whole process didn't take an excessively long time, though it wasn't rushed and she was extremely thorough. The salon is very clean, high end yet not super fancy. I started to going to Lasio a few years ago but at that time I always shopped around for the best price but somehow I always found my way back to Lasio for both its best price and the best treatment. Now I look no further and remain exclusive to the Keratin Lounge. I am a loyalist to the Tropic treatment. It's a natural treatment and you need only wait 24 hours before you wash you hair. I love it -- usually lasts me 10-12 weeks. My hair is healthier than ever before! No frizz, no unruly waves. My hair feels soft and silky. Even my hair stylist calls me when she has a new client in her chair to ask where I get my hair treated, she sends them to Lasio. Katie and Vivian have both treated my hair and it's held great. The salon is has a nice vibe and all are super friendly. While their products are great and I often use, I never felt pressured I had to purchase. If you do get the treatment, I do recommend the balm ... I coat my hair with it when I'm at the beach and it completely protects from salt water and sun rays. The Keratin Lounge is a convenient location in midtown. Appointments are always timely, I have never had to wait once! read more

I just wanted to give a fair warning to African Americans going to this salon. They do not know how to handle African American hair!! They don't have the proper tools. They will rush you hair through this process and cause a ridiculous amount of damage and on top of it all charge you a an obscene fee for having "difficult" hair. I will never go back here. Jose was awesome, funny and my hair looks fantastic. Was not sure about Lazio as I for years did Coppola but I do think this is more natural looking. It has been about 6 weeks and I am totally happy. He even cleaned up my cut and I left looking like a million bucks.
