    2 Fish Tacos

Delicious and reasonable.... Very filling.... We ordered both the fish tacos and the halibut fish and chips.

    Shrimp tacos, yum!!

The people working there were super nice. Coming from San Diego, the mecca of seafood tacos, I've been bummed out a few times in our fantastic PNW. Kerby's for the win!!! I enjoyed the lime creama on the shrimp tacos, and shrimp were cooked perfectly. These are definitely tacos that beg to be eaten right away to escape any sog factor. Bonus was the pineapple coleslaw they threw in a side of, I'd go back for that alone. It's a simple outdoor set up, which I happen to enjoy in general. Can't wait to try more from this spot!

    Sturgeon and sweet potato fries.

Let's start with product selection. It's still about the same as always. However, prices have seriously increased. I felt at the previous establishment, it was more like Costco. Buying in bulk to get a better price. Now? It feels like it's only a bulk option, not better prices. However, not worse prices either, so that's saying something. It doesn't have the best atmosphere, but it's not a store I need great atmosphere from. It's not a bad atmosphere either, which is good. It won't deter you from doing your shopping as long as necessary. As for the customer service, it's also about as expected. Maybe slightly above average, but that'd be personal preference at most. Overall, "Chef's Store" doesn't hold a candle to Cash & Carry. If you're looking for what this store provides, it should do it with flying colors. Especially for restaurants, its main customers.

I also picked up a quart of the managers clam chowder he makes fresh every day. Service is quick and everything is packaged well to go. The shop is clean and tidy which is important when dealing in these kinds of perishable ingredients. Once I left, my wife and I headed out to the beach to make lunch. I shucked the oysters to serve on the half-shell, opened up the crab meat and took the top off the quart of hot chowder. Everything was delicious!

I came in and placed an order for a big party I was having, and when I arrived they had it all ready to go in a box with lots of ice. The smoked scallops and oysters were a huge hit; I made a crab-mac with their fresh picked shelled dungeoness, and shrimp cocktail with Oregon shrimp. 10 lbs of mixed manila/butter clams all fresh, all popped, yummy. Great friendly service. Prices are, well, not inexpensive, but you get what you pay for!

The restaurant was empty, other than one table with two people. The atmosphere seemed very unwelcoming. The waitress who did seat us, was dressed in a black halter top that was so low, it exposed her breasts. Her entire back area was exposed as well, showing her bright pink bra. It was not only provocative, but embarrassing to even look at her, it was very distasteful. Why management would let someone dress like that, says a lot about the restaurant as a whole, in our opinion. Once seated, our drink order was taken right away, and shortly thereafter, our order. The food was delivered within a timely manner and was tasty. We felt it was also reasonably priced. This day and age, we understand it is not easy to find employees that actually want to work. But when you do, allowing them to dress in a manner, which makes your customers feel uncomfortable, is not acceptable.

It did have plenty of bacon and clams in it but the broth of the chowder was different. We did not care for it and it was very different than other clam chowder dishes. Next we ordered the cod fish and chips and the crab sandwich. Along with those came fries and coleslaw. The fries were hot and amazing while the coleslaw was very dry with little sauce. The fish and chips were the best ever. They were even better than perfect. Next we shared the crab sandwich and neither of us took more than a bite. It was actually terrible but not sure if it was as intended or not to our taste. Either way with all this tasting the fish and chips were great but nothing else was even something we would ever order again. The restaurant was clean except for the floor. It was very sticky. Servers were good in taking our order and handing us the bill but never came back to check on us once. Needless to say if we want fish & chips, we get them as a takeout. We would definitely order the fish again as it rated 5 stars with us but nothing else. The chowder was 2 stars in our mind and the crab sandwich a 1 star.

No! This place was…read morereally disappointing. Came here based on reviews, but I. would caution anyone to steer clear of this place. It started with flat champagne drinks. That's just a fail, and it suggests a place that doesn't bother keeping things fresh. It kind of went downhill from there. We were looking for nice fresh fish and chips, wile we were out along the coast. We live near the coast ourselves, and are no strangers to good seafood. We decided to do the Cod and the Halibut fish and chips. While the halibut seemed fresh, the cod was waxy and looked old, and frankly i found it somehow mildly nauseating. I couldn't bring myself to teat it. The batter was crsipy, but lacked seasoning and tasted really flat (cardboard?). Aside from that, the coleslaw seemed pretty old soggy. Gross. Not impressed at all - some of the worst fish and chips I have ever had. Some people may like this kind of food - but i will actively avoid this place the next time in Astoria.
