And the best of all? I'll be able to see the golf balls I hit once again it might even improve my golf game. Ha! Nothing ever has before. But I'm gonna give my new eyes a shot. Who knows? So they set it up and told me that insurance would not cover any of the surgery, so I would have to pay almost $4,000.00 for each eye. After looking over our finances, I decided I could not afford to have the surgery, so I called and told Brianna that I could not afford to have the surgery and to cancel it. This was done over two weeks ago, and Brianna never canceled the surgery. The operation center I would go to for the surgery kept calling me about the surgery, and I needed to complete paperwork online. I spoke to them today and told them that I had canceled the surgery. They then called the Waring Vision Institute and told them I canceled it. I then got a message from BRIANNA that I owed the Institute $200.00 for not canceling the surgery. I had a very disappointing experience with this practice…read more My appointment was scheduled because I wanted to have a proactive conversation with a physician about my family history of macular degeneration. My goal was not to seek treatment for a current eye problem, but rather to understand what I can do now to reduce my risk in the future. I wanted to discuss questions such as whether certain vitamins are beneficial, whether therapies like red light therapy have any evidence behind them, and what lifestyle changes or preventive measures are supported by research. When I scheduled the appointment, I was assured that I would be able to meet with a doctor to have this discussion. However, after arriving, I was told that I could not see the physician unless I first completed a full series of medical imaging and diagnostic tests. I was told they needed pictures of my eyes before they could even have a conversation with me. I found this extremely frustrating. While I understand that imaging is appropriate when evaluating or diagnosing an eye condition, I wasn't there because I was experiencing symptoms. I was there to receive education and guidance on prevention. It seems counterproductive that a specialist would refuse to discuss evidence-based ways to reduce risk simply because I declined diagnostic testing that wasn't the purpose of my visit. Preventive medicine should be encouraged. Specialists have an opportunity to educate patients before disease develops, especially when there is a significant family history. Instead, I left feeling that the focus was on requiring procedures before providing even basic medical guidance. Had I been told when scheduling that a consultation was contingent upon undergoing diagnostic imaging, I could have made an informed decision before taking time out of my day. Unfortunately, that expectation was never communicated, making the experience both disappointing and misleading.

The lady doctor told me after my exam that I might benefit from the YAG procedure, and I should schedule to come back for a consultation with Dr. Solomon to find out more. I made the appointment for 8:45 this morning. I left my house at 7:30 am and drove through rush hour traffic for nearly an hour. I got to the office, checked in, and they called me back at 8:55. The tech asked me why I was there which was surprising. Anyway, I told her I was there for a consultation. She asked me if my eyes were bothering me, and I said no. She then told me that Dr. Solomon won't do the surgery until they bother me. I reminded her that the ophthalmologist in their office told me to schedule this appointment, and I had driven almost an hour to get there. Sensing my unhappiness, she asked if I'd like to talk to Dr. Solomon. I said yes. She said I'd have to wait a half hour. He hadn't even come in yet. I have had similar customer unfriendly service in the past. I went up front and told the lady what had happened. Not much concern..... only telling me "there's nothing I can do". I told her I would never be back. They were totally dismissive of my experience. I think Dr. Solomon can be arrogant, and I feel like it's more a cataract factory. How can he not be there when his first patients are being seated? I just wasted my morning. They do not care!!!!

First red flag was his tech got my test results wrong & the Dr. discussed the mistake in front of me. He caused an abrasion on my left eye with the equipment on my first procedure. I didn't want to go back but I did. The other eye has been nothing but problems with cloudiness, insane floaters which can be a sign of corneal debris remaining in the eye, a constant muscle twitch after 3 months & it feels like I'm wearing a contact-as though the lens isn't implanted properly. He also highly recommended tear duct cauterization for dry eyes. I evidently didn't need it because now I have excessive tearing and overflow because my eyes can't drain. This has caused eye swelling and bags. The procedure is not reversible. I learned that most drs. have patients try the removable plugs first to see if there is overflowing. Dr. O'Day interprets a patients questions & concerns as criticism-he gets very defensive & doesn't explain anything.  I told him I had tried the monovision with contacts & I didn't like it but he said with lens implants it was different. It's NOT any different! Everyone I know who was talked into this "monovision" hates it.  I have constant eye strain & headaches from having one eye 20/30 & one eye 20/20.  I'll probably just wear a contact to correct the one eye. Do yourself a favor & find yourself another Dr. A retired surgeon just recommended George Waring, Paul Herring & Solomon.  I have an appt. with one of them to get checked out.

Although I had this Lasik eye surgery done over a year ago on November 13, 2015 I still remember it…read morelike it was yesterday. I was very scared to get the Lasik surgery. In 2006 I once had a Lasik consultation with the Twin Lasik eye Institute in upstate New York. The surgeon was formerly from Pennsylvania. During that time I wasn't a good enough candidate because they stated quote: your vision is borderline for surgery but not quite enough. At that time I recall I suffered in silence from near sightedness and an acute Astigmatism. Fast forward 10 years later after dilegently trying to build my career and working very hard to make a name for myself this time YES!! I finally was a candidate for the Lasik surgery. When I went in for my 2nd consultation, I was wearing my pretty baby blue contacts and after the lady viewed my perscription she said quote: (funny voice) WHOA!! I can see why you would want to get the Lasik surgery done lol... I chuckled since I knew exactly what I had suffered from nearsightedness, vision impairment since 2nd grade which lead into adulthood spending hundreds of dollars on eye glasses/ contacts. I dared to ask out of curiosity saying what's my vision read? She said 20/700. I about choked when she said that and was in disbelief I didn't relize it was that bad... So I knew that part of remaining healthy was your vision and I didn't want to wear corrective lenses anymore, so I took the brave stance, and schedule the surgery. Leading up to my first day of Lasik surgery I was very, very nervous but they kindly worked with me to calm me down and gave me detailed step by step instructions on what to do to prepare for the Lasik sugery. #1) I had to use these drops that prepared my eyes for surgery dilating them. Then they numbed my eyes and the surgery began. I was wide awake the entire time, I remember some pressure as the clamp stayed strategically on my eye balls and I nervously questioned quote: What if I blink? The surgeon was very professional and calming during my nervous dance stating quote: Don't worry you are secure and the eyes can't move. I was feeling better already when after what seemed like only 5-10 mins they took the lens off and then back on again and I could see. It was alittle bit blurry in the beginning so I had to have a friend drive me home. I rested up one day and the next day I could see like brand new like I had contacts in only they were my own eyes!! My vision was 20/20 it was AMAZING!!! This surgery was by far one of my most expensive and best investments I've done for myself besides buying a car lol. After a mos they had said it improved 20/15 better then gradually it leveled out now last I checked it's around 20/20 -20/25 which is still excellent from how blind I once was. Thankyou Lasik Vision Institute!
