I would avoid going here at all costs. I did not get sound advice regarding cataract surgery in my humble opinion and have unexpected complications with a second procedure. I had cataract surgery over a year ago by one of their doctors. Had problems for over a year. Vision is blurred. Dry eyes...not helped by different procedures offered. Last time I went to Carolina Eyecare, Dr. Solomon saw me. He was rude, abrupt, and totally uncaring. I had a terrible experience here. Several appointments I showed up for only to be told I had no appointment that day. I showed them the card with my name and appt time, and they said sorry they made a mistake so come back another day!? Time with Dr Soloman was a few seconds after 8 appointments or so of cataract surgery. Results were not good. I dislike everything about this office. read more

I'm one and two days post-op from EVO ICL surgery and I am so incredibly happy I went through with the procedure. I wasn't a candidate for LASIK but was a candidate for ICL. I was hesitant at the price tag, but at the end of the day, it still saves me money over daily contact lenses to the tune of $1200 a year. The testing was very extensive, so I felt confident that I would be getting exactly what I needed. They called me back in for more testing just to ensure everything was 100% correct. I went from -11 (R) and -8.5 (L), where right eye was not correctable beyond 20/30 undilated and 20/25 dilated. The day after each procedure, I was reading most of the 20/20 line in each eye, which should continue to improve as swelling decreases. The recovery has been a breeze. There are more precautions than LASIK, but I was in notably less discomfort than my fiancée who had LASIK a few months ago and with significantly less halos/starbursts at night. Dr. Solomon and his team did such a great job. I would choose this surgery over and over again in Dr. Solomon's hands! Dr Solomon took care of my Lasik surgery last year, and even though I was only in the room with him for just a couple minutes, his bedside manor and skill with the machinery was most excellent. Having lasers shot into your eyeballs is enough to scare the crap out of anyone, but Dr Solomon was welcoming, and made me feel at easy while he secured my eyeballs for the procedure. I cannot sing enough praise for Dr. Solomon and his LASIK team. I was referred to him by another eye doctor and I'm so glad because my experience was better than I imagined. First, they were so beyond accommodating for my schedule: they never showed the least bit of annoyance toward me after rescheduling three times, plus they went above and beyond to do the surgery during a holiday week. Clarissa, who performed my pre-op exam and prepared my surgery notes, is literally a rock star. Through all the tests she made me feel calm and well taken care of. She clearly cares about each one of her patients. For the actual surgery, everyone takes all the scary out of the procedure. It's an intimidating process, but Dr. Solomon was my personal cheerleader, talking me through every second (plus they had teddy bears for me to hug, its a small thing, but really was a nice touch) As for Dr. Solomon's ability: according to my post-care doctor, he is an "artist." I'm certainly no expert at laser eye cuts, but I'm told he is the most precise LASIK doctor in town. All I know is, I can see better than 20/20 for the first time I can remember. read more

Dr. Solomon and his team are wonderful. They made the experience as easy as possible. There are two stand out people that I encountered along the way. The first was Keri. She helped me get the lowest possible price and helped with my FSA account and financing. The second was Clarissa. I loved her! She did my one week pre-op appointment and just made me feel really at ease. She was also there the day of my surgery and she is so kind and caring. She really made me feel special and she hugged a lot! (I like hugs, so I did not mind). The surgery was a little bit scarier than I was expecting. I probably should have done a little more research into what was going to happen, or I should have asked more questions. The only reason there are not 5 stars, is they never contacted me with what time my surgery was scheduled for and I had to get in touch with them. I would definitely recommend! read more

I received lasik surgery here a few months ago. I am having extreme dryness leading to severely impaired vision months after it should have passed. Not taking that into consideration with this review because I know that is a risk of the surgery with any practice. However due to these issues, I've had to come back for over a dozen follow up visits within the past 5 months and they are always 30+ minutes behind schedule every single time. Once after waiting close to an hour, I asked how long the back up was and they said 2 more hours!! Call your patients before hand and let them know they should reschedule. We have jobs too!!!! Another time, I showed up and my appt was cancelled with no reason listed in the system so they had to reschedule me even though the day before they called to remind me of the appointment. I never had these experience in my pre-op appointments. I guess now that I'm post op and already shelled out my money, my time is no longer important. read more

24 hours later, I have 20/20 vision. I never in a million years thought that I'd be able to see with such precision without having to wear glasses. The staff is extremely personable and professional. They even provided a token of appreciation to my friend for bringing me to the office on surgery day. I've only got one pair of eyes, I'm glad that I trusted them to Dr. Solomon. It's officially been a month and a half since I had LASIK done and so far, my only regret is that I didn't get it done sooner. If you've been in Charleston for any length of time you've probably heard of Kerry Solomon. His name is always the one that pops up when mentioning LASIK and from the moment I made the decision that I wanted to get this done, I knew he'd be the one I'd go to. Taking in all the good with the bad, I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone considering LASIK to go ahead and get it done, but I was even surprised at how much goes into this whole process. I'd say the actual surgery was one of the easiest parts of the whole experience. There is a lot of prep and post-op aspects with getting LASIK and Dr. Solomon's office did a very good job of clearly explaining all that goes into this procedure. I won't go into everything involved but just know for a good month, your world will consist of lots of round the clock eye drops, no makeup for a big duration (this may have been the hardest part for me), and wearing my glasses a lot more than I'm used to. I'd say if you're considering getting LASIK, these things should be taken into consideration (especially for us girls who wear makeup) to plan around. I ended up getting my surgery done in August because they were offering a huge discount during that time period ($800 off each eye!). The actual surgery wasn't bad at all. Definitely nerve-wracking but I can't imagine anyone being comfortable when you think of what is actually happening to your eyes. But the whole staff is so great at putting your mind to ease. And the good news is that the surgery goes by really fast! You'll be in the room less than 10 minutes and the actual procedure is about 2 minutes per eye. Then you go home and take a 4-6 hour nap and you wake up to perfect (or near perfect) vision! Truth be told, there have been some not so great aspects I've had to deal with like severe dry eyes and night glare, but these are all normal effects of the procedure and of course nothing that reflects badly on Dr. Solomon. I'm told to give it a solid 3 months to let your eyes heal completely, so that's what I'm going to do. But even taking these into consideration, I'd do it all over again. I still catch myself heading to the bathroom to take out/put in my contacts and then I remember I don't have to anymore. Best feeling! read more

Yesterday Dr. Kerry Solomon performed LASIK surgery on me and today I can SEE! For years I had considered LASIK, but just never made it a priority until I started racing in Triathlons in early 2015. All appointments ran on time and all my questions were answered. I was anxious the day of surgery but Dr. Solomon and his staff calmed me right down by telling me exactly what to expect each step of the way. Surgery went really well and was pain free! Right after surgery there is a little discomfort but as soon as I got home, I went right to sleep and woke up feeling like a million dollars!
