Very happy I had this done. Everyone is so thoughtful and accommodating. The doctors are knowledgeable as well. I would highly recommend.

It's officially been a month and a half since I had LASIK done and so far, my only regret is that I…read moredidn't get it done sooner. If you've been in Charleston for any length of time you've probably heard of Kerry Solomon. His name is always the one that pops up when mentioning LASIK and from the moment I made the decision that I wanted to get this done, I knew he'd be the one I'd go to. Taking in all the good with the bad, I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone considering LASIK to go ahead and get it done, but I was even surprised at how much goes into this whole process. I'd say the actual surgery was one of the easiest parts of the whole experience. There is a lot of prep and post-op aspects with getting LASIK and Dr. Solomon's office did a very good job of clearly explaining all that goes into this procedure. I won't go into everything involved but just know for a good month, your world will consist of lots of round the clock eye drops, no makeup for a big duration (this may have been the hardest part for me), and wearing my glasses a lot more than I'm used to. I'd say if you're considering getting LASIK, these things should be taken into consideration (especially for us girls who wear makeup) to plan around. I ended up getting my surgery done in August because they were offering a huge discount during that time period ($800 off each eye!). The actual surgery wasn't bad at all. Definitely nerve-wracking but I can't imagine anyone being comfortable when you think of what is actually happening to your eyes. But the whole staff is so great at putting your mind to ease. And the good news is that the surgery goes by really fast! You'll be in the room less than 10 minutes and the actual procedure is about 2 minutes per eye. Then you go home and take a 4-6 hour nap and you wake up to perfect (or near perfect) vision! Truth be told, there have been some not so great aspects I've had to deal with like severe dry eyes and night glare, but these are all normal effects of the procedure and of course nothing that reflects badly on Dr. Solomon. I'm told to give it a solid 3 months to let your eyes heal completely, so that's what I'm going to do. But even taking these into consideration, I'd do it all over again. I still catch myself heading to the bathroom to take out/put in my contacts and then I remember I don't have to anymore. Best feeling!

I had an amazing experience getting lasik with Dr. O'day! All the staff made me feel so comfortable…read moreand the procedure was such a breeze! Dr O'Day has literally done tens of thousands of these procedures and I couldn't have felt in more capable hands. I would recommend this place to anyone.

First red flag was his tech got my test results wrong & the Dr. discussed the mistake in front of me. He caused an abrasion on my left eye with the equipment on my first procedure. I didn't want to go back but I did. The other eye has been nothing but problems with cloudiness, insane floaters which can be a sign of corneal debris remaining in the eye, a constant muscle twitch after 3 months & it feels like I'm wearing a contact-as though the lens isn't implanted properly. He also highly recommended tear duct cauterization for dry eyes. I evidently didn't need it because now I have excessive tearing and overflow because my eyes can't drain. This has caused eye swelling and bags. The procedure is not reversible. I learned that most drs. have patients try the removable plugs first to see if there is overflowing. Dr. O'Day interprets a patients questions & concerns as criticism-he gets very defensive & doesn't explain anything.  I told him I had tried the monovision with contacts & I didn't like it but he said with lens implants it was different. It's NOT any different! Everyone I know who was talked into this "monovision" hates it.  I have constant eye strain & headaches from having one eye 20/30 & one eye 20/20.  I'll probably just wear a contact to correct the one eye. Do yourself a favor & find yourself another Dr. A retired surgeon just recommended George Waring, Paul Herring & Solomon.  I have an appt. with one of them to get checked out.

However, I was scheduled last year for an appointment in May 2026 and I just recently was canceled since Dr Boatwright won't be available. My new appointment could be as early as November. I made an appointment with them for an inflammation in my eye and was not seen by the doctor for almost 2 hours after my appointment was scheduled. I also explained to him a concern for a specific blood test due to my family history , and he wrote me a referral for blood work, but didn't include what I had mentioned. Then, when that information got worse i called to make an appointment or see if they could write me a stronger prescription eye drop for my condition. Instead of telling me they couldn't write a prescription without an appointment they had me wait, and wait, and wait for a call back i was told i would get but never came. I called several times, and finally got my answer. So now my condition is worsening and I have wasted time I could've spent making an appointment else where. I have no issue with there not being time for an appointment, but to not respect my time and condition is disappointing. Will not be returning.
