There is parking inside and the walk to the building is confusing. There's not really clear signage to indicate where the restaurant is on the premises. Luckily the estate is gorgeous so we didn't mind wandering around a bit before dinner. The host was nice, the servers all seemed young and untrained. The biggest issue we had all night was the lack of good service. Our server was very absent for most of the meal and every single course had a missing utensil. For bread service, she did not check in and we sat and waited until the bread got cold before we could flag her down for appetizer plates. Oh well. For the rest of the dinner we had similar issues. We ordered off of the restaurant week menu and tried nearly every item - all of them were just average. To start, 3 of us had the saffron soup with mussels and toast, one person had the bbq pork belly and one had the prosciutto cantaloupe salad. Personally I thought the salad was excellent - the prosciutto was good and the goat cheese fruit arugula combination was great. I had the mussels soup and toast. The lack of service was an issue here. Our server was nowhere to be found after the food was run out, and so 3 out of 5 of us sat at the table without spoons for the soup waiting for her to show up. By the time she did (after passing the table 3-4 times) the soup was already cold :/ it might've been better warm. It was yogurt and potato with PEI mussels. Pretty good. I liked it it was a 4/5. My friend who had the pork belly said it was average. The second course came out and this was a big hit or miss. The kunz short rib (named after the late chef, Gray Kunz, who was renowned for his short rib with pickled mango and mustard sauce) was a total miss. The rib itself was so dry and almost sharp when it shredded. The texture was just not good. The other person at the table who ordered the dish felt like the meat was way too bland and i felt mine was too salty. It seemed like they were inconsistently prepared. The short rib was a 1-2/5. My spinach was also way too salty. Not what you'd expect for a place like this. The halibut seemed well done. My friend did comment on the amount of "fluff" on the plate (garnishes, dressings, etc) but he prefers simple food always. Overall he's not really interested in fish most of the time and he loved it. So this dish was likely a 5/5. The pork shoulder fell in the middle. I tried some and the celery greens, red onion and apricot combination was great. The meat itself suffered some of the same fate the short rib did - it didn't taste entirely fresh. It almost felt like it had been sitting out for awhile or something. It was significantly more juicy and tender than the short rib was. Overall, I'd give it a 3-4/5 No one ordered the ratatouille, so that was the only thing on the menu we did not try. For dessert, our table ordered all three options - a chocolate soufflé (i think?) covered in blueberries, rum baba with crushed pistachio and a peach galette. The chocolate soufflé (again I don't know what this was) apparently was amazing. The two who ordered it went silent until the bowl was empty. 5/5. One of our friends and I each had the rum baba. This was spectacular. Really well done 5/5. The peach galette was the only slacker, the pastry dough itself was very bland and almost tasted a little doughey like it hadn't cooked enough. The filling left much to be desired 2/5. Overall though, dessert was the highlight. The two that were good were AMAZING. Of course, our server again forgot spoons for the soufflé things and so that was just another reminder that we'd probably not do this again. Overall, for how dinner went in terms of the food and service I'm not sure we would do this again. If the food was better i would consider coming back, but frankly, i think there are better places to eat for this price point with better service. Again, not the worst place I've ate at in town but it's not even in the running for the best.

The best breakfast item was the WARM cinnamon rolls (not the healthiest, but had that nostalgic Cinnbons-at-the mall vibe). Margie the chef was very friendly. There was coffee all day and they had seasonal hot cocoa too. The rooms were new and clean and I liked that the cleaning staff came every day (many places don't even take out your trash anymore). We had a lovely mountain view from our double queen suit on the backside of the hotel. It was quite pricey for a Holiday Inn (~$400/night), but the great service helped me overlook that. While the price would deter me from staying here again, I would come back in a heartbeat for a lower rate.

The property is attractive, seemingly new, well-appointed, and clean. The area felt safe. Room (5/5). We were on the top (5th) floor, accessible by elevator. *We had a huge window that faced the front parking lot. The window had a well-designed shading system that allowed you to have a transparent window, OR to use a translucent shade, or to completely block the window so the room is completely black. *King-sized bed and 4 pillows were very comfortable, and there were quality linens. *Functional features (5/5) included small tables with outlets on both sides of the bed, a lounge seat, a desk, wardrobe to hang clothes, ironing board/iron, mini fridge, microwave, Keurig machine with coffee and tea (including decaf), and a olarge tv. Noise (4/5). As the hotel was set back from the main road, we could barely hear traffic noise nor could we hear other patrons (except when they slammed their doors). Slight mark-down in rating because of the noise from the room fan which we couldn't shut off. Temperature control was good via a GE heating/cooling unit that was controlled by the room thermostat. However, the unit's fan ran continuously which interrupted my husband's sleep. Didn't bother me. Bathroom (5/5). Seemingly new and clean. One really nice design feature was that the faucet that controls the shower's water flow and temperature was on the back wall of the shower so you don't need to stand in a stream of cold water waiting for the temperature to adjust. Plentiful Dove hand wash and lotion in canisters near sink, and Dove shampoo, conditioner, and soap in shower. Breakfast (5/5). Included in price, and extensive self-serve offerings. Hot options included biscuits with hot gravy; scrambled eggs; sausage patties and links; warm cinnamon buns; oatmeal; and a pancake making machine. There was also a variety of cold cereals, yogurts, hard boiled eggs, bagels and breads, pastries, and fresh fruits (bananas, apples, oranges). Beverages included coffee, tea, and hot chocolate, plus multiple juices. Staff (5/5). Check-in and check-out were easy, and staff were friendly. We were also greeted/acknowledged by other staff we encountered, including breakfast area staff and cleaning staff. Location (5/5). The hotel is easy to reach for travelers on I-64 and 250 West. Being about 0.8 miles from I-64, and tucked behind the Wawa on 250 West, the hotel is protected from traffic noise. It was also nice to have the Wawa in close proximity after a long day's drive. We easily grabbed a hoagie, chips, and beer for dinner. Value (5/5). Our Sunday night stay in early March, 2024 was about $125, before taxes, including a large buffet breakfast for two. Finally, I note that parking was free and plentiful.

In the basement, it is completely tricked out with a kegerator, cigar humidor, pool table, 80s free-play arcade, projector movie theater, darts, gym, hot shot basketball, and air hockey table. The cottage has a side expansion with more rooms and a pool complete with covered patio. Outside, there is a beautiful meadow and pond for having an outdoor wedding. Then there is an all-new construction barn that serves as a wedding reception venue. Our event had well over 100 guests plus there was room for dancing, a DJ booth, professional photo booth, buffet tables, and a full-service bar. There is even a little red covered bridge lit up at night for doing a sparkler run outside. It's the works.

Our room came with a complimentary bottle of wine, which was really nice. They also have a wine hour that is self service and is complimentary. You're allowed as much wine as you want. Breakfast the morning of us checking out was delicious and a truly beautiful experience. I wish I was still there.

Finishings kind of reminded us a little bit of the accommodations. It was peacefully decorated, and mostly comfortable except for the couch. We were only using it to lounge in and something more comfortable would have been desirable. I took advantage of the dry sauna and hot tub, which was a short walk across the parking lot. We tried to take advantage of the grounds by walking around the small lake and through the fields. If they were in a dedicated walking trails, we didn't find them! We took a tour of the main house and enjoyed our French inspired continental breakfast, though croissants would've been a nice touch! The vistas from the winery and the hotel are quite spectacular! If you're looking for boutique or personalized lodging with beautiful surroundings, this may work for you!

For dinner the ESTATE SALAD - Arcadian green mix topped with tomato, watermelon radish, goat cheese and golden beets dressed with Trump Blanc de Blanc vinaigrette, was amazing. My main of DUCK - Pan roasted medium-rare duck breast with cherry port wine sauce, honey glazed rainbow carrots, wild rice pilaf with estate grown herbs, was the best duck I have had in a very long time. It was a last minute trip so we were able only able to book a king suite with pull out for our kids. Our room was clean, and comfortable with modern furnishing. Pull out was nice and comfy with a squishy foam mattress that my daughters loved jumping on. There was a full kitchen that we did not utilize but plenty of room for activities and to spread out. Parking is free and they have an EV charger on site. We didn't have any adaptors with us they do have a Supercharger less than two minutes away. There is a Whole Foods literally across the street, and many restaurants and other life conveniences nearby. This came in handy when my husband had to do a 3 am run for Children's Motrin for my daughter. A free breakfast was included in the stay and while standard it was nice to be able to fill up on some fruit loops and carbs before getting on the road again.

Breakfast: We stayed there for 3 nights, so we got to experience 3 different breakfasts and enjoyed each of them. The first morning we had a tuscan strata which was AMAZING and definitely our favorite breakfast. The next morning we had Eggs Benedict and the last morning we had a Peach French Toast, which we enjoyed as well. Each breakfast started off with fruit or parfait and along with the breakfast dish came thick sliced bacon. It also included coffee and orange juice. It was so nice getting up every morning and coming down and having breakfast served. Other perks: Each afternoon from 4-6 they had social hour where they sat out cheese and crackers and offered a glass of wine. It was a cool time to relax and get to know the other guests and Mark and Mary. Also, each evening they sat out milk and cookies which was an awesome way to end the day. I highly recommend coming to the Dinsmore House to stay. The accommodations are great, but the company of Mark and Mary are even better. They really love what they do and are so helpful and sweet. The street reeked of that sweet pungent nauseating smell of mary jane. Perhaps that is why the place is so uninviting, the population is too stoned to care. Last, but certainly not least, the toilet in our room is so low that you feeling like you are squatting over an open pit ( and the flush mechanism is malfunctioning). The two stars was awarded to our waitress Kristan and delicious all included breakfast at Farmbell kitchen.
