A few weeks after my service, I had an issue and they literally dropped everything to assess and remedy it so I could get to work the next day. They charged me nothing for the assessment and quick repair, though we absolutely tipped the employee who helped me because his kindness and professionalism deserved recognition. I've been going to Diablo Auto Care for about a year now, and they've earned a level of trust that's honestly rare in auto repair. At one point my Acura MDX was at the dealer, and I was told I needed a gasket repair that would have cost well over a thousand dollars. I brought the car to Diablo for a second opinion, and they determined that the repair wasn't actually needed -- and they didn't charge me anything. They could have easily sold me expensive work I didn't need. They didn't. On another visit, the scheduled maintenance called for a valve adjustment -- something that normally involves a costly and invasive procedure. Diablo had the proper diagnostic tools to evaluate whether it was actually necessary, determined it wasn't, and saved me a significant amount of money. I also once brought my car in because I was concerned there might be exhaust fumes getting into the cabin. They took the time to evaluate it, drove the car, and checked everything -- and again, since there wasn't actually a problem to fix, they didn't charge me a dime for their time. They consistently under-promise and over-deliver. Repairs are done faster than expected, communication is clear, and more than once the "surprise" has been that my final cost was lower than what I was originally told. On top of all that, when my MDX needed to stay in the shop, they even drove me over to Enterprise so I could get a rental -- completely voluntarily. They didn't have to do that, but they did. Chris and Diablo Auto Care are excellent. I unfortunately needed a new throwout bearing for my car, which can be quite labor-intensive to install. I took my car here for a diagnosis, which he did within a few hours. He called back super promptly and for a few hundred more, suggested getting an entirely new clutch. After doing some research and calling around, Diablo was several hundred dollars cheaper than other locations, so I said let's do it, new clutch. I was really impressed by the speed at which he was able to complete this huge project- when I had the clutch replaced on my old car it was 2 weeks. Chris and team managed to finish this huge job in basically ONE day- gave the go-ahead for the new clutch on Wednesday afternoon and it was ready by end of day on Thursday! Insane! I am so impressed with Diablo Auto Care. We took our truck there after referral from another local shop needing a Star Smog station . We had been previously unable to get smog because of check engine light on and had gone to numerous local shops that were unable to solve why the check engine light was on. Diablo Auto Care was able to identify the cause as some sensors not connected. They thoroughly explained the situation and corrected those affordably in order to obtain the smog check for us. I started using Diablo Auto Care nearly 20 years ago for service on my vehicles. I quickly realized that Diablo Auto Care was an honest auto repair shop when Chris, the owner, was able to replace the catalytic converter on my Nissan G35 under the manufacturer's warranty. This was not an easy feat, as the manufacturer did not want to honor their warranty. Chris fought for the warranty coverage and got my catalytic converter replaced under warranty. Since then, I have used Diablo Auto Care for all repairs and major services required for my family's vehicles. I like to recommend them to other's who are searching for an honest repair shop. Just this past week, I ordered 2 new tires from Amazon for my 2009 Lexus GS350. The tires and the 4 new after market TPMS units were installed on my car in an afternoon, the same day the orders arrived. The job was done quickly and it was reasonably priced. Over the weekend, I drove the car and noticed how great the new tires felt around town. At freeway speeds, I noticed a slight vibration in the cars ride. I reported that information to Chris, who told me to drop it off and they would look into it. A few hours later, I received a call to come get the car as the service was completed. They pulled all 4 tires off the car, rebalanced, and reinstalled them. The car was test driven and the vibration was now gone. Chris told me that one of the front tires balance was off slightly and that must have been causing the vibration at 75mph plus. Talk about the real deal. I can't stress enough how difficult it is to find an honest, trustworthy all-around mechanic these days. Chris runs the shop and has everything dialed in. I first took my 2018 Chevy Tahoe in last year and had the 100,000 mile service done. They had the vehicle for the day while I was at work and Chris called me periodically throughout the day to provide me with updates. Prior to giving them the keys to service, Chris wrote out a detailed quote which was extremely reasonable in my opinion. Today, I dropped the same vehicle off for an alignment. These guys were efficient and corrected the alignment without any problems. They double check their work, example: they had two techs drive the vehicle to ensure it was aligned properly. This was my first experience w/ Diablo Auto Care and they made me a very satisfied customer. I found out about them on Yelp and they were able to accommodate my schedule and squeeze me in on a Saturday for my '03 Tacoma's 90k mi service. Based on everyone else's Yelp reviews I expected these guys would be good, but they were great: from the initial phone call right up to having it ready when they said it would. These guys obviously know what they're doing, and they're friendly about it too. It seems that every time I let some other shop work on my truck that I have to bring it right back to fix some little oversight (forgetting to put x back on, y wasn't tightened properly, missing a washer on z, etc) but Diablo Auto Care did everything right the first time. This attention to detail earned them many brownie points in my book. Last but not least: their prices are very affordable. Dublin Toyota was going to charge me over 40% more for the same work and I'm never happy with their quality or service. Took our car for transmission fluid change and A/C refrigerant leak. They had the car all day. They found no A/C leak. They charged the A/C system for the cost of $140. Less than 24 hours, car had to go to a shop in Sacramento due to no refrigerant left in the A/C. Major leak was found and as a result the condenser was replaced. Best. Mechanics. Ever. Years ago I stumbled upon Diablo Auto looking for an oil change/tune up place near work. The price they quoted me was below what I expected so I gave them a try and kept them in mind for future work. Fast forward a bit and I'm stranded on the side of the expressway in San Jose with my dead Honda. I remembered Diablo Auto being so nice, so no b.s., so fair and capable that I had my car towed 40 MILES for service. Don and his crew fixed my car in a jiff, again in less time and for less money than I had expected. Here's where I became a super loyal customer; when my check engine light came on, they performed an inspection and said I needed a new catalytic converter and it was not a cheap fix. I told him I really needed a cheap fix, so they found me a part that was less expensive but might not work. It worked - but only for a few months - so when I took the car back to Don he installed the expensive part LESS THE AMOUNT I ALREADY PAID for the other part! Who does that? Nobody! I now live and work nowhere near San Ramon but when I have car trouble I do whatever I can to get my Honda to Diablo Auto Care. I highly and enthusiastically recommend them. read more

PLUS, Diablo auto repair told me that I need to replace my rear shocks, but at the other center, they were puzzled by this, since there was NOTHING WRONG with my shocks. I had some squeaky brakes and some pulsation and went to Diablo Auto Care after reading yelp reviews. It did not disappoint. My brakes were replaced the next day even when the shop was REALLY busy. I also requested to see all 4 brake pads as I am a car enthusiast and wanted to see how worn down my brakes were. The mechanic saved the pads for me and I got to inspect the brake pads. The price was reasonable and after driving around, the brakes do not squeak, the brake pedal does not pulsate and my car stops perfectly. Top notch!!! Was actually about to take my Toyota 4-Runner to another shop in the area when I saw them. I figured why not? Now, a little background on me. I'm kind-of mechanically inclined. I've done work on my previous cars including a cooling system overhaul, transmission work etc. I do like to work on my other car, but the older I get, the harder it is for me to do. So, the Toyota goes to the pros! When I talked to Don, I told him that my truck has 140k miles and was in dire need of some TLC since I had largely been neglecting it. It had some major work done at about 90k and thats about it. And it was showing it. Had an oil leak and a few other things on my list. However, he was reluctant to just dive in and do a lot of stuff. He said that they would change the oil and do a full bumper-bumper check and then report back. I was kind of taken-back since I was expecting the total opposite! It was also the Saturday before Christmas, but they squeezed me in anyways. They even gave me a ride home and we had a nice chat to boot! Well, when he called, it wasn't as bad as I thought. He spoke to me with respect and explained everything I needed. Since I have a decent understanding of mechanics, it all made sense and I knew I wasn't being taken advantage of. Even though the bill was tough to swallow in these tough economic times, it was money well spent for the amount of work done. As soon as we drove the car home, we could tell. The wife could even tell!! BIG difference in the transmission, the brakes, the smoothness of the engine. Please read this review! If you are anything like me and have been searching for a automotive tech you can trust, I promise you this is the shop. I don't even know where to begin to explain what they did for me. First let me start by saying it was closing time for them when I pulled up in a panic. I had just dropped off my kids at their sports and my car was about to die. (the car is not even 2 years old and is a fairly nice car) They treated me with such respect and dropped everything to help me. As a mom, I can't begin to tell you how comforting that is. They knew I was on a time constraint because I was the only one who could pick up my kids. The battery my car needed they unfortunately didn't have. However, instead of turning me away, they called different stores to find the battery I needed. (remember, they should have been closed by this time) Then they quickly drove to pick up my battery, hurried back and put it in my car. During the time it was being installed, Chris (who is an angel!!), explained to me why this should not have happened. He then gave me a complete right up to show the dealership and instructed me on what I should ask them to look for on my car to solve the issue of the quickly drained battery. After going over and beyond for me, I expected the bill would be on the high side. I was shocked when it wasn't. Not only are these guys trustworthy, respectful and compassionate, they also have morals and don't price gauge when they very easily could have since I was at their mercy. I have been taking my Chevrolet Tahoe exclusively to Diablo Auto Care for several years because the previous owner recommended them. They always provide excellent service at reasonable prices. They are friendly to deal with and are open on Saturdays, a real convenience. Today, we brought in our Honda Accord, which had previously been serviced by Dublin Honda. The dealership had recommended that the compliance (lower rocker arm) bushings be replaced which would also necessitate a front end alignment. Gary from Diablo Auto and his team deemed that work to be completely unnecessary after a thorough inspection of our car. They saved us about thousand dollars in unnecessary repairs. read more
