We both ran into some difficulties with the warranty/insurance company, which was incredibly frustrating, so the repairs took longer than expected and I ended up having to pay for a rental out of pocket for a week -- but that was not Kevin's fault. Throughout the entire process, Kevin was kind, understanding, and kept me updated every step of the way so I always knew what was going on. When additional repairs were needed and he had to wait for approval, he continued working on my car trusting the approval would come through so there wouldn't be any further delays getting my car back. I made an appointment online pretty last minute because I smelled a terrible dead rodent smell in my car and wanted it addressed quickly. Not a fun job in the slightest (especially since it was apparently a gruesome mess in there) but they were willing to take it on, thankfully. They cleaned and sanitized everything thoroughly while I waited on their comfortable waiting room couch. They were very nice and had me pay the price they originally quoted me even though it ended up taking twice as long. The only downside is they left a stain on my dashboard -- I'm assuming the sanitizing solution came up through the vent. But honestly that's the least of my concerns. I took my mom's van to Kevin's auto when it was on its last legs. It was overheating. Kevin's auto really didn't help. Kevin (or his associate) said he might have a buyer for the van, but he didn't. The right-wing sentiments posted on the wall of the office really turned me off. I took .y vehicle to this shop to get an alternator replaced. It's an easy job. Two weeks later my car lost electrical power while I was driving on the freeway at 70+ mph. I had to take my car to the dealership to see what the issue was. The mechanic at Kevin's Auto care negligently installed my alternator. I spoke with Kevin and he admitted fault. He has refunded me some of the money, but is refusing to refund me the money I am out for the damage caused to my vehicles engine & electrical system by his inept mechanic. I politely asked for him to only pay the difference between what he refunded me and the new repair bill (about $800) and he said he would not do that. I tried to be reasonable with him and now my only alternative is to go to Small Claims court - over an issue that was caused by his inept mechanic that shorted out the alternator and part of my electrical system. How would you like that happen to you at 75+ mph on the freeway? Not to mention the alternator shorting out was causing it to arc and my engine could very well have caught on fire. I've used Kevin's Auto Care for two different cars on a few occasions, and I find them to be very responsive, honest and reasonably priced. They replaced breaks on both cars, and rotors on one. Kevin also steered me straight when I brought my Infiniti G37 in to troubleshoot an alert sensor that had gone off. I thought it was going to be a major problem and expense, buy he helped resolve it quickly and at a low cost. This past week I brought my 1992 Ford Ranger in because it was stalling and very sluggish. I recently acquired an '83 300 TD. I swung by the shop based on the positive Yelp reviews. Guy was not working on a car when I came by, so we had some time to talk. Guy wasn't completely familiar with 30-year-old MBZs (but most mechanics under 55 are not) plus it's a diesel. The main problem with the car was that it was bouncing badly over every bump (or any dip in the road). From my reading, I thought it was the hydropneumatic pumps (accumulators?). Guy thought it might be the pump. He wasn't sure how the engine was set up, so we went out and popped the hood. He found the pumps and started tracing lines. He followed one to a reservoir that was basically empty. He suggested that I try the NAPA store next door and buy a can of hydraulic fluid and see if that fixed the problem. Bought the can for $24, poured it into the reservoir, started it up, and the minute I backed up, I could feel the difference. It's no longer bouncing. I saved $1000 on shocks and can recommend Guy for his honesty and curiousity and general know how. He diagnosed the problem from the simplest possibility rather than the most expensive. Why his shop was empty (he was waiting for a pick up, I think) is beyond me. I just wish he worked on diesels. For everything else, I'll make the 15 mile trip. I'm sold. read more
