Simply the best. When you're in a bind, don't call the others shops. I made that mistake last week. My car was held for 5 days and they were sort of nice but super shady about the hold ups. So I had to start looking smarter and fast, because that shops work was only a temporary fix, and I was dealing with the same problem ONE week later. I've been fortunate the last few years. I haven't had any automobile trouble. But as luck would have it, the day before Thanksgiving my 2011 Explorer started shaking at HwY speeds. It had a little shake occasionally but would go away, this time the check engine light came on. I took my vehicle to Tom and his team. They were understandably closed for the Holiday as they have families and Tom gave them till Monday. No worries, I'm sure it's well needed rest. I'd spoken to some friends and they said transmission problems are common on explorers so I held my breath. I got the call from Tom preparing for the worst. Turns out it was a bad spark plug and coil. He charged me for a Tune up. Prices vary so I won't get into that. The car runs perfect now. Smooth as can be and way under the price people were telling me it would cost for a new transmission. Tom's team simply looked at the error log in the engine and proceeded from there. My husband and I brought in our car a while ago to get worked on and they forgot about our car! This place is ran so unprofessionally, it's disgusting inside.. it looks like they hoard junk and trash, if you walk by one of the big doors there are tons of beer cans..it's also confusing seeing how there is two offices and when My husband went into the wrong one he got an attitude given to him. the poor lack of communication with in the company and the bad attitude of the owner. There is a auto shop a few doors up we will probably try out next time that has great reviews UPDATE: I think it's funny how you are playing it off as I'm another shop trying to make you look bad... sorry bud you did that to yourself. You don't know who my husband is so you don't know who we are so there for you can't say you don't remember us haha. I initially started going here because of the oil change Groupon. On that first visit, I was amazed how friendly they are (I'm used to being "just another number" when it comes to oil changes). After a second oil change, Autotyme became my go-to shop. The owner, the workers: everyone there is so knowledgeable, trustworthy and nice. Their work is great and their prices are extremely fair. What I truly love about Autotyme and what really makes me trust them is their taking the time to explain things. Most shops I've been to just say, "your ___ is dead, it'll be $500", and don't provide any real details (which I always find suspicious), but Autotyme will detail problems, explaining what happened and happily answering any questions. Recently, I returned to Advanced Auto Repair, in Vista, to have my noisy fan belt adjusted and to have my rough idiling engine looked at. Bo told me that the fanbelt he installed is new and it schreeched becauses it is wet in the mornings. He said "Every body's fan belt makes noise in the morning" Knowing that this is not the case, I took my Nissan to a different mechanic in Vista. I went to AutoTyme on Melrose Drive in Vista. The owner, Tom, told me the fan belt needed an adjustment as it is not seating on the alternator properly and he replaced 2 leaking vacumn hoses that were making the truck run rough. The truck now runs smoothly and the alternator no longer sounds like an attacking owl! I'm grateful for Tom and his staff for their expertise and professionalism. My wife and I moved back to Oceanside once finished with my Marine Corps career. She had a good experience with him for an Oil change thus the 2 star. However, once I let him work on my Toyota 4Runnner with more complex stuff like attempting to fix my 4 wheel drive or replacing a head gasket, they screwed both of them up. It cost me thousands and he made it worst. He kept stringing me along until I finally told him I need it repaired right, than he finally told me over the phone they are not under warranty anymore(2-3 months later). Tom from Autotyme really helped me out of a pickle. After losing my adapter for the anti-theft lugs on my wheels and in desperate need of getting new tires mounted I asked several shops for help (even the so-called pros from the tire shops, can you believe it?). Nobody could (wanted to?) help. Tom took me in right away got those useless lugs out for good, mounted the new tires and also switched the real good, brand new spare wheel tire onto a regular wheel for a more than fair price. He recommended a great place for body work when I got hit in a parking lot. I have always been treated with respect and honesty (during a recall repair at the dealership, I was given a list of things that "needed" to be fixed and he explained each one and why it wasn't necessary to fix at that time). Autotyme Automotive Inc. 1146 N Melrose Dr #801, Vista, CA 92083 (760) 631-7277 I took my vehicle to Tom for repairs after I had what I thought was a small fender bender. An acquaintance that I thought I could trust recommended him . He gave me an estimate of $2800.00 and said it would be repaired in a week. 18 days later it finally was ready for me to pick up. I go to pay and all of a sudden it's $3,800.00. I reluctantly paid it I needed my vehicle. Exactly one month later my car a 2010 Toyota Camry starts making a god awful noise and it died . I have it towed back to Tom by triple AAA. The tow truck driver informs me that there is no oil in the vehicle it's bone dry and I need a new engine. I told him I just had the vehicle repaired after a car accident and that Tom from Autotyme had my car for 18 days just a month before!! He informs me that just two days before he towed another woman s car back to Tom and she too had just picked her car up from Tom and he had just recently repaired her new vehicle and she too had the same problem no oils in her car and blew the engine ! He told me that's no coincidence! We get to Autotyne and Tom says hello Kim what's the problem and I said there's no oil in the car and the engines knocking and it's ruined he says to me "well Kim you do have to put oil in the vehicle" my face turned red with anger but I contained myself and I said yes but you just had my car a month ago for 18 days after it being involved in an accident don't you think you should have checked that? Not to mention that he had done the oil change on it just two months prior to this! He absolutely took no accountability for this and blamed it entirely on me! And went on to tell me it would be $5,800.00 to repair! Needless to say I left as fast as I could and will never return nor recommend him to anyone!
