I came in here the first time on 2/9. I am living in San Lorenzo temporarily and looking for a decent cut. I came here because of the reviews. There were 2 guys before me so I had to wait for at least 30 mins. When my time came, I explained to Kevin what style I prefer with my hair. I told him that the last haircut I hard, the stylist messed it up. Kevin could even tell that the last cut I had was done bad. No joke: 100/100 Kevin is as good as it gets. Best barber I have ever gone to in my life. I drive 30 miles each way to have Kevin cut my hair. He is extremely detailed, professional and knows how to cut hair. I couldn't recommend Kevin enough. Looks like yelp took down my review so I'm writing this again. I called 6 days in advance to make an appointment after reading about the long waits online. It wasn't until after he cut my hair that he told me he would be charging me extra because I had made an appointment (originally $18 to $25). Would have been nice to tell me over the phone, honestly felt taken advantaged of in this situation since it was my first time here. Not only that, my hair was cut way too short so it'll be awhile for me to grow it back the way I wanted it to be. read more

I wanted to check this place out since I was looking for a place to get my haircut and the review for this place was good. People say he takes his time and take care of you so I wanted to see how well Kevin's do haircut. It was around past 12 when I came in to get a haircut and there was 4 customers ahead of me waiting to get a haircut also. It took a little while until it was my turn to get a hair cut. My first expression on the 1st customer that he was taking care of was he really takes his time and making sure it's done correctly. It was my turn to get a haircut and I told him that I wanted to get a fade (0 on the side and 2 on the top). Boy, what can I say? He impressed me and took care of me. He really did a very nice job and on my haircut and even him was impressed by saying nice haircut. I told him, "Thank You, I love it". Only me that he said that to and even the other people who was waiting turn around and looked at me. For the service that he did was worth about $25 at some place but not here. I guess you can blame me a bit for being a little vague at times about what kind of haircut I want, but I've had one too many experiences with this guy where the results were poor and lacked sense. I would have never bothered reviewing Kevin's Cuts until my most recent experience when I simply asked him to square the back. When he began trimming it hurt more than usual. I'm not one to complain unless something is REALLY painful, so I toughed it out like it was normal. It stung but I kept telling myself that it would pass; I had never experienced a burn quite like this from a haircut before. I left the salon and hoped the sting would eventually fade. Long story short, he gave me a pretty harsh razor burn on the back of my neck where he straightened the hair line; by harsh I mean theres a bright red line on my skin along the back hairline about a 1/2 cm thick that was still painful the next day. This has NEVER happened to me so I am not a case of sensitive skin. Some might blame me for not stopping him and telling him about the discomfort, but what guy getting a haircut is going to complain unless the pain is REALLY bad? Shouldn't this be completely avoided in the first place? Take a look at the picture and judge for yourself (assuming they don't take it down). My fault or should this just never happen at a professional salon? I will never trust him again. read more

Price is inexpensive ($11 compared to $15-$20 in Berkeley) for a basic haircut and the barber does a better job than the 4 different places I tried near Cal and the other 3 I've been to on east 14th in San Leandro. Found this place a few years ago after I moved here from Berkeley. It's a simple store with three barber chairs but I've only ever seen the one guy, Kevin cutting hair. The cobination of cheap prices, good haircuts (he is meticulous in his hair cutting and attention to detail) and short wait times keeps me coming back. read more

5/5 Yup, I'd get my hair cut here again and again Now it's kind of hard to review a barber, but I'll give it a go. I went here several times when I lived in San Leandro with my GF. And almost every time I went to him before a job interview, I got an offer from the job that I was applying to! Not only does he have that lucky factor, but his hair cuts are pretty on point. I usually get the usual, and even though I don't show up for months, he still remembers me and cuts it just like I had it the time before. The price is right at $11 for a male haircut and I usually tip about $3-$4 depending on how Im feeling. I'd recommend this place to get hair cuts again and again! TIP: If you go, try to go during an off time. Because it's just Kevin cutting hair, the line can get a little crazy during the rush hours of the day :-) read more

It's sandwich between a market and a nail salon. After reading all the 5 stars review I had to check it out. I was there probably a month ago. Kevin is a one man shop and it's no frills type of place, which is great for guys. My hair cut was okay, but not great. He's not as diligent as you would expect from other hair stylist. He's probably good at giving short cuts with the clipper, but his shear skills are less than desirable. read more

My husband has gone to Kevin's Cut 4 times already and he really likes this place. Haircuts are $12 and Kevin does a great job. Kevin also cuts women's hair. I tried him once about two weeks ago and I am completely satisfied. I am very low maintenance, but am always hesitant because all the salons I have gone to end up cutting more than I tell them. I actually was looking for a haircut for the new year, and I knew my original barber was booked. I googled for a spot near my house, and this is a three minute walk away. I walked in, and there was only one guy getting his haircut finished, and another waiting. It took me about 30 minutes to be cut. I don't like waiting, so I usually make an appointment with my other barber. However, when my time came, I showed Kevin a picture of how I wanted my sides to look, and he did just that. I'm very picky about how I get my sides done, because a lot of people make the top portion too short, when I like it tapered a certain way. Kevin was impeccable, and took his time to fix every detail. Not only that, but it was only $16 for the haircut, compared to the $30 I was paying my other barber before. Love, love, LOVE Kevin!!! I have unruly curly/wavy hair and I've gone to so many pricey hair salons around SL (like Amparo's) and I've never been satisfied with the results. I had always thought that a more expensive haircut warranted better results, but Kevin has proven me wrong! I came in with my hair wavy and dry, and told Kevin exactly what I wanted: trim off dry split-ends, but keep it layered so it's not some huge mass of wavy hair, but that it will actually have body and bounce. Kevin delivered. His prices are amazing! Haircuts start at $11, and increase with length of hair. I had my hair to the small of my back and ended up with hair going a little past my shoulders. I distinctly remember paying about $55 (not including tip) at Amparo's, but Kevin only charged me $13!!! Don't pass this guy up! He is amazing! This is my third cut by Kevin. My first two cuts were perfect. Faded exactly the way I wanted with the perfect gradient. This time around, he appeared rushed and left large patches of hair.
