I remember Kevin's when they were on Dixwell Ave! The food back then was delicious! Today, Kevin's is located on Kimberly Ave and the food remains as delicious as it was when I was a little girl! It is one of sever places I have to stop by when I am in town. Keep serving up the fresh, hot, golden fried fish! Good eats!! See you soon!!

My favorite spot to get Catfish from, they never miss! You're not getting catfish at this price and portion any where else! You can definitely share the dinner platter, devour it all or save the leftovers and reheat in an air fryer the next day! The best way to eat it is by spreading some coleslaw on the white bread, slapping a fillet in between then drizzling hot sauce all over...the combination is *chef kiss* The hot sauce is also bomb, the only thing I'm not really a fan of is the tartar sauce, but that's not really my thing.

I had this place book marked for some time. I went with a friend who wanted seafood. The ladies at the register were very patient. We really did ask so many questions. Thankfully it was empty when we got there but as soon as we sat down to wait for our order, the place just started filling up. So I ordered a fish sandwich, shrimp and onion rings, and 2 combos of fish and shrimp with onion rings (onion rings are $0.75 more). Firstly, the portions are huge. We definitely did not need 2 combo orders. We could have shared 1 order and would still have leftovers. Everything was delicious, fried perfectly and packed nicely. Each order came with a small bag of condiments. There were 2 tartar sauces 2 hot sauces, ketchup, utensils and napkins. The tartar is delicious! I loved the various dessert options but was very disappointed that they had no desserts that day. Ohhhh, how could I forget the coleslaw ha ha ha. Let's just say I'll be needing a separate side order of coleslaw on my next visit. This is more of a take out establishment however, there are about 3 tables and chairs if you desire to grab a seat to eat. There is street parking.

Thinnest shrimp I've ever gotten from Kevin's, which is over cooked due to small size. Highly disappointed on this visit.

I was highly disappointed on this visit to Kevin's. The shrimp was thin and over cooked. The porgies were not the freshest. I will not be returning. It's unfortunate, but for me it only takes one visit to ruin everything.

The Harbor Sampler was excellent, the mussel pot had a unique curry broth that we really enjoyed, and the New England IPAs and Frozé hit the spot. They said they could not guarantee the patio. But we were lucky to be able to sit outside anyway. The water is magical at night. More importantly, they have a very interesting bar program and delicious food. I got the new Message in a Bottle cocktail, which was clarified, so there is mango, lime, rum, orgeat, curaçao and milk... but it was as clear as an old-fashioned. Lots of flavors going on and they balanced extreme well. Very delicious, vacation-like, and sophisticated. The bread here was also delicious as well the butter and the black salt it was served with. They have a whole vegan menu, but there were also some vegetarian things on the main menu so I stick with that. The beet salad was incredible. Huge portion, and some very delicious blue cheese which was in the dressing. It was very filling and I still had some to take back to my hotel. The wild mushroom "bolognese" (meatless) was tasty too, but it had a little too much of an herb (thyme?). Otherwise the meal was so very delicious and the setting was beautiful. And this is coming from a San Diegan who is used to waterfront views and good food!

It isn't huge inside but they use the space so wisely. The kitchen is open to the bar so you can see and hear all the amazing things happening back there which really adds to the local neighborhood vibe. The bartenders there are very sweet and attentive, they help bring the whole experience there to 5 stars. I came on a Wednesday for the $17.99 lobster roll special and it was easily one of the best I've ever had. It is a quarter pound of lobster and you get actual lumps of claw and meat rather than the shredded stuff some other places serve. The butter it's sautéed in is seasoned delicately to accentuate the fresh lobster instead of covering up the taste. The portion was surprisingly large and it comes on a fresh bun that is lightly buttered and toasted. It even comes with a little cup of extra butter which I totally slathered on because I love butter! Every bite was so fresh and soft. The roll comes with fries and I did the optional $5 upcharge for the lobster bisque. That was also the best I've ever had because I've never seen bisque with such large chunks of lobster in it. It was just crazy good. Everything was well worth the price and I'd honestly come back even on days when it's not a special. They have something going on every night like the $9.99 burger and fries on Mondays, so that will definitely be my next reason to visit. I will be back for sure!

We heard about the…read morebottomless mimosa brunch here at Cast Iron Chef Chop House & Oyster Bar so we pulled up to check it out! Here's how it went... Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right on the busy State Street is this gem. There's no private parking, but plenty of comfortable, spacious street parking right out front. Once inside you're immersed in a very fine-dining, elegant, laid-back atmosphere. Lots of woods, intimate-low lighting and upbeat music. I loved the vibes in here. The first room is your bar room where the rail is off to the left, but with plenty of seating to the right. If you continue through the room you enter the main dining room where it's all booths and other tables. Service: Stacey was our server. Things got off to a bit of a rocky start, but they smoothed out throughout the brunch. Food/Drinks: The mimosa was okay... It was REALLY strong because there's orange vodka and orange liqueur in it. It kinda killed the flavor for me because I'd prefer a traditional mimosa with minimal juice, but... no matter. They're bottomless... or supposed to be... Just be mindful of who your server is. Brunch can consist of a prix-fixed menu, which is what we did so we'll be going through that. First up were the Homemade Sausage Gravy and biscuits. These were super smothered and fantastic. Hot, savory, meaty, salty and even had a bit of a subtle sweetness. The biscuit was soft, butter and had crispy edges. Next up were the Cinnamon Rolls. These were HUGE. Lol. Like, how are we supposed to eat AND drink all of this stuff?! The exterior of the roll was crispy and the inside very soft. Not over-the-top sweetness or anything. These were very balanced. Next up were the Bananas Foster Pancakes. But this thing was enormous. It was so thick, like literally an inch thick. Lol. Fresh bananas sliced right on top, it cut like butter, was soft with the perfect crispy edges and these were AMAZING. Punch of sweetness up front, fluffy texture and just a great pancake. For dinner, this restaurant usually serves Cast Iron Popcorn instead of bread, so Stacey let us try it! It was smokey, a little-little sweet with a little bit of salt and maybe a hickory barbecue flavor. I liked it. Lastly, I chose the Steak & Eggs over Salmon & Eggs, but got to try both since my wife was with me. Each comes with gigantic fried potatoes, 3 eggs, a piece of toast, caramelized onions and your protein of choice. My steak was cooked perfectly (medium-rare). The flavors were excellent. It was a little fatty and just was done very well. Value: $64.96 for bottomless mimosas and the prix-fixe menu. Probably the best value brunch in the state. SO MUCH FOOD and strong drinks. I don't know what else you'd want! In conclusion, I really enjoyed myself here and have revisited since my first time! Everything was just as awesome as the first. Check this place out if you're in the area!
