Not seasoned taste just like ocean water... even the fries was nasty when the menu say seasoned fries ... I spent 25$ and was very disappointed. I grew up on Kevin's back in the day and was so sad when they closed. Luckily, a few years ago, they opened back up on Kimberly Avenue in New Haven and all is well with the world. Their fish sandwiches are sooooo good and the onion rings send me into orbit. Their calamari is also very very good and when I want a variety, I get a combo box. This is a take out only spot that has been around for years. The food is priced reasonably for the amount you get. I ordered up a platter of whiting, fries, and slaw. Moms had the shrimp sandwich. The whiting could have been dressed a little better, I got some fins and more bones than expected. All was fried just right, add hot sauce and bread and you are GTG :0) A good solid spot for the 'hood. I'll continue to visit when I am in town. read more

Today I was in New Haven on business with my colleagues and when we were deciding where to go for lunch, one of my colleagues suggested Kevin's as he's from New Haven and he knows how much we all love seafood! OMG...I had a whiting sandwich and it was by far THE BEST I've ever had. The fish was fresh, seasoned well, but not overly so, and there was literally NO oil on the bread! This spot could easily get a 5, but two things killed my experience here. The girl at the front desk was attentive but could have been more upbeat. The second thing which killed it was the huge display of bootleg dvds to your left as you walk in. The brother in front of the dvd display, although he said excuse me let out a burp that shook the ground, yuk! As for the food, had a whiting sandwich and some fries. Portion size was on point and was crisp. Will def go back, its a hood spot so i guess that explains the whole bootleg dvd thing. The remodeling opened up some more space. My visit was way overdue the food is still great the atmosphere is really nice now that they remodeled even better the girls is so great I'm one of the daughters that I normally go to still remembered me after so long.Saw,Kevin he looks great and their cooks back there are still with them. By far the greatest seafood restaurant I've ever been to! Me and my family have been eating here for years and they never disappoint! This fish filet is lit and the shrimp is unbelievable! Not that many seafood places around new haven area that are actually near the water and worth it. Kevin's has nice decent size plates with some taste.
