We have been stopping here on our way up and back from Door County forever and the custard is the best we have ever had. Sure, we sometimes get a brat burger, chicken or fish sandwich...but that's not why we go. It's totally for the custard. Not badly priced for the quality of ice cream you get. They use Swiss cake rolls for the brownie sundae which isn't that great, but the ice cream is really the star of the show. Would try something different next time. read more

Stopped for lunch after buying chicken food from TS down the road. Three high school kids working. No welcome or smile from the order taker. But she was efficient. Prices were reasonable. The place is painted in bright cheery colors. I ordered a single hamburger, ketchup, mustard and grilled onions. Food ready in 5 mins. Fresh semel bun, smash burger was juicy and tasty, grilled onions were perfect! Side order of fries were crispy outside, fluffy outside! An elderly couple came in for lunch, they rcvd smile from the order taker and their order was brought to their table. Next time I'm in Kewaunee I'll be sure to stop! read more

Had lunch here in 8/9/21 @ about 12pm... Great place if u are looking for treats. I got a burger special with choice of chili or dries. I got the chili. I absolutely live chili. But this was way watered down. More beans than chili. Not meaty at all. No flavor. Like warm for a temp. Fries that my buddy got were greasy and just ok. Burger was lame. It was to have lettuce in it. It had a flake. The cheese had no flavor. The patty was good and the bbq was ok. But not much in the burger. Now if custard is your thing: stop here. If u love food.... Don't eat here. Staff was friendly. Drive thru is always busy. Clean inside. Bathroom was kinda dirty really kinda gross. It this is a nice place if u want to stop in for some custard or treats. I got a Diet Pepsi and my buddy for a root beer. The machine was off and our drinks didn't taste right. Whole experience was over $30 bucks. Kinda expensive for food and a treat. My sundae was SMALL. Very small. And was like 4.50.... I would suggest a cone. They are huge! Ans look very good!!! Drop in and if u have a positive experience, which I was seriously disappointed.... I have never seen a more filthy restaurant. The women's bathroom hasn't been cleaned in months. The soap dispenser was broken. The floors throughout the restaurant and in the food service area had layers of filth. The counter area was disgusting. Some kid is going to get a food borne pathogen and be very sick. My daughters had cheese curd, French fries, ice cream. They enjoyed their food. I had the breaded cod basket. Which was quite possibly the worst cod I have ever tasted. The fish was cold, no taste, and there was no tartar sauce. The fries were cold and tasteless as well. I threw out most of my meal. They need more training in customer friendliness... or maybe a visit to Japan to see how it SHOULD be done (more on japan later). They shouldn't stand around either, clean or organize something. If you are on the way home from Door County and need a burger or custard, this is your stop. It looks very unassuming from the road. You order at the menu board and pick up your food when your number is called. Or do they bring it to your table? I can't recall. Either way, the place is small so it's no biggie. The burger and fries are solid. But make sure you save room for the custard. It's great in a cone or as a sundae. Service has always been very friendly. read more

The good news is that the bathroom is incredibly clean, the bad news is that it's the cleanest part of the store. Stains all over the walls and floor, spilled toppings all over the counters, and no gloves or protective gear. The custard might be crazy good. They always have a flavor of the day, but feature many different flavors to suit your taste. They also offer hot food, fries, and snacks. The business has a drive-thru, ample parking(as it can be busy during tourist season), and ample seating inside. The restaurant itself is clean, and the service is fast and friendly. My wife has never had custard (they're deprived in Texas); and it's been years for me. We were going to go inside; but we watched ten or so mask-less people waddle in just before we got there. So we opted for the drive through. A cheerful and masked young lady greeted us and asked what we wanted. I ordered a vanilla custard on a waffle cone. My wife ordered a chocolate on the same type of cone. Asked if we wanted small, medium, or large, we opted for mediums. Holy moly, they were huge! The custard was a good four or five inches high on the cone. Glad we accepted the extra napkins. The custard was really really good. It was creamy and very rich. My wife gave me that look "why did you wait so long to get me custard". It was a race to eat our cones before they melted on us. Although the custard was delicious we ended up with sticky hands and stray drops on our shirts. The chocolate seemed to melt slower than the vanilla. Bottom line, this stuff is outstanding. Just a friendly tip, if you're getting a cone to drive down the road with, get a small. It'll be big enough. read more

Our Wisconsin family detoured the caravan of cars for custard while on the way to the cottage on the lake. I am so glad we stopped. The custard was rich and creamy and fabulous. I had the chocolate chip cookie dough flavor special (did they know I was coming?) and loved it. Big chunks of cookie dough and chocolate in the cold custard goodness. It was pretty awesome. Quiet a selection of size options from Kids to Large in both a cone and a dish or even Waffle Cones. Includes a variety of things from the grill that are good, so even the non dessert lovers can find something to enjoy while you savor your custard. Not to mention other custard goodies like shakes, sundaes, blasts and sugar free option too. I enjoy the consistency of the custard, I find it much more enjoyable than other local custard and ice cream options. Something about the heaviness or thickness of it paired with the rich flavor of custard just makes it excellent. Still not sure if you want to give the flavor of the day a shot? You can always ask for a spoonful of the flavor to try. DEALS: At the beginning of the school year you can find a local football player selling a "Kewaunee Storm" fundraiser card to get 10% off for the next 12 months. We were passing through town from Door County back home to Chicago and this place happened to be a few minutes from where we were. I read reviews along the way (they had 19 total, only 2 were not great), so we tried it and are really happy that we did! Caramel Cashew was the flavor of the day and I got a sample and it was amazing! I added caramel topping, which made it a sundae. Should not even get one star. We went to the drive through and ordered two burgers, fries and mushrooms. Pulled over and after waiting for 20 minutes, went in to see why it was taking so long. They couldn't find our order, they then hurried to make it. They were out of napkins. They were out if French fries but gave us about 7 in a bag and called it an order. Took the bag to the car and drove off to continue our way back to Milwaukee. Opened the bag and there was melted ice cream in a container with French fries under the ice cream. One burger was raw and there was blood all over the bag. The other burger was okay. The whole order was wrong, incomplete or inedible!! Most of it ended up not eaten. It was a terrible experience. We came here for a frozen treat after dinner out. The place is has a drive through ,but we decided to dine in. They are typical of a Dairy Queen as they have soft serve custard and the usual types of sundaes. They offer hot sandwiches and fries. I ordered their version of a blizzard. It was good. They are doing "Christmas in July". The place is decorated for Christmas and some of their items have a Christmas theme. They feature a different flavor of custard every day. Excellent! We live in CA and every time we visit Algoma we stop by to get some frozen custard. Love the place! But to add to our last visit in June.... We stopped by one evening with my 88 year old mother. Hours later, while at home, my mother suddenly realized she couldn't find her purse with her drivers license, credit cards, cash, etc. She thought maybe she left it at Kewaunee Custard, and although almost 10 pm, I tried calling both KC and my mom's phone. I then figured out how to track the location of the phone on the internet and when I did, it said the phone was at our house in Algoma! Just then the doorbell also rang. Well, the phone was at our house now because Jeremy (the owner of KC) had found the purse, and driven it the 10 miles to our house late at night. Amazing honesty and effort! What a cute place! Warm welcoming colors are all over the restaurant along with some nice paintings... the workers were kind and friendly and the food was pretty good. ( even though the dough on my corn dog was a bit undercooked) I would definitely recommend this place. If I'm ever in the area again I'll make sure to come back. read more
