Came back to Wisconsin for a wedding and happen to be staying in Denmark. We checked to see if Susters was still around! It been a long time since our last visit. This place has been a staple restaurant growing up in the area. Through my childhood, adolescents and adulthood we had frequented this place. They always had some of the best chicken and fish fry I've ever eaten. Their family style is always a hit for me. I remember as high school wrestlers we'd stop they after the season was over to savor the delicious chicken and side Upon coming in the doors you enter into a festive crowd of patrons, bustling waitresses and bartenders. Everyone treats you so well! The drinks are a Wisconsin great, as a good staple old fashioned, among others. When seated you're upon a table of a plateful of fish since we had Friday night fish fry. Green beans, slaw, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, sauerkraut and rolls. The building and interior has stories on top of stories within its walls. We live far away but can't wait to come back for another drink and a meal! read more

We've eaten here before with no issue, it's Denmark we get things are busy for how small are village is but who ever the bartender was at the time we went was extremely rude and unprofessional when my mother simply asked how long the wait was for food that we had to walk out and go elsewhere. Mind you we didn't care that we had to wait because we understood the busy time of day but it's the fact that he rudely said "Well everyone in here is waiting for food so it's going to be awhile." A simple "let me check" or "let me finish what I'm doing and I will get someone to check on that for you" would have sufficed. read more

Enjoyed a delicious roaster chicken family dinner while visiting the local area. Fantastic service and the food was so memorable and delicious. When you're there order at the bar and it's worth the wait for a table to enjoy their famous roasted chicken. My family and I decided to try the food from Suster's for the first time. We ordered some food to take home. The Krohn's cheese curds are delightful! I recommend these. I don't recommend any other menu item. My wife tried a cheeseburger. They failed to add the requested pickles and onions. The burger was on the smaller side and the flavor, I'm told, was mediocre. Also mediocre were the french fries. They tasted of potatoes, as one would expect, but they lacked any fried-food-flavor. They were limp and disappointing. The chicken strips were also disappointing. They had an unpleasant odor and their flavor was lackluster. The included side of sauce was far too small to accommodate the whole order. My daughter tried the broasted chicken. She did not care for the flavor of chicken skin, but she said the meat was tasty. I tried her chicken and I found it to have an offensive odor coupled with a lackluster flavor. The onion rings smelled very good but their flavor didn't match their smell. While I am glad that we tried something new, I will not be ordering food from Suster's Tavern again. I don't recommend that you try Suster's food. P.S. The service was very good, so I'm told. They repeated the order back over the phone when my wife placed the order, and the restaurant was quiet. read more

Went to Susters in Denmark for dinner in a group of 6, drinks were good, ,, was excellent, very attentive. We had the family style chicken and also the fish. It was so good, and they kept bringing it until we were stuffed, along with potato salad, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, rolls, kraut, and of course knee caps. This place is amazing. The trick is that it is fairly small. So they have you sit at the bar, and order your food. Then when a spot is ready, they place you at a table. At least that is what they do for the Friday fish fry. We did the fish and chicken, which is served family style. It came with stuffing, mashed potatoes, potato salad, coleslaw, saurkraut and bread. It was less than 20 per person with a beer each. If you are in a smaller group, be prepared to make new friends, due the the size of the place they will put smaller groups together at one large table. We've been coming here for over 50 years for the chicken served country style! The mashed potatoes, dressing, coleslaw, and bread are always great! The chicken never changes, it's always good! We've tried the other things they have but always go back to the chicken served country style! Drinks and service are always good when we come! We now live in Florida, but summer in Green Bay till Early November! We always go at least twice for the chicken before we leave! read more

By far the best perch in the area. I gladly drive from Green Bay to Denmark to pick up perch in Friday. My brother was in from California and wanted an old fashioned fish fry and agrees with me this is the place to go. Good sized portions! I can never eat the full serving in one sitting. I have gone to Suster's since I was a kid. It is primarily a bar with 2 sitting areas for food service. Their claim to fame is their Broaster Chicken and Fish. They serve plates to order any day of the week (including diner style food) but Fridays are the the days the locals stuff themselves silly with an all you can eat fish, chicken, coleslaw, potato salad, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes & gravy, and bread meal. The food keeps coming until you are full. We always leave full and happy. If doing the dine-in on a Friday; make sure you call ahead. read more

Suster's Arcade got a recent remodel and last night we used their event space for post deployment party. The staff was extremely accommodating, provided full service bar to our family, the sit down meal was delicious (chicken & fish), food was hot and served promptly. Susters is pretty easy to review... friendly service, great atmosphere, amazing boasted chicken, and some of the best fried perch I have had anywhere. It's easy to review because I never get anything else as entrees. The boasted chicken has always been exceptional and a great value but we recently had their fried perch which has now become my favorite perch in the area! The cheese curds are, hands down, the best I've had. The chili is typical NE Wisconsin bar chili and decent. The sides served are your typical potato dishes, coleslaw (good vinegar based) and rolls. Susters is a pretty straightforward, old fashioned small town bar with exceptional boasted chicken and fried perch. My only complaint is that they aren't closer to my home in Green Bay when I have feel the need to indulge is some good boasted chicken. read more

Good family dining and done right at this place! First, you come in and get a cocktail while they fix up your table and food. When you arrive at the table, you have family-style dishes. We went in on German food day and it was awesome. We've also gone on regular days, the broasted chicken is YUMMMY! It feels like home when you walk in there and they treat you like family. I love Susters (say it "Shusters"). A Brown County institution with lines out the door. Their fried perch is just perfect and the pressure fried chicken is done right. If you go for those things yo won't be disappointed. If you place value on side dishes then you will definitely be disappointed. We go for the Friday Fish and Chicken family style fry and load up on the awesome fish and chicken while hardly touching the low quality cafeteria sides. Stove Top stuffing, mashed potato flakes with gravy from an envelope, dry bread. So why does Suster's get my five star ranking? Because of that incredible fish. Don't go in expecting awesomeness from the sides but expect some of the best fish you ever had. read more

First time here, I ordered the Rib eye sandwich with beer battered fries. My wife ordered bacon cheese burger with cheese curds. A hand full of locals at the bar and very friendly staff. My steak was tough but everything else was good. We will come back. read more

This place is a hidden gem. I almost don't want the secret to get out about this place. When I think of small town America's hole in the wall eateries, this is what I will think of from now forward. Last night, my family decided to go to Susters because we haven't had it in a while! We had the family style meal! The broasted chicken is to die for! Some of the best chicken I have ever hand! Along with the rest of the food! It was like a mini Thanksgiving! The service was also fantastic! The staff is so pleasant and kind! They are always checking up on you! I live in Denmark and Suster's has been a staple in our community for over 100 years. When you think broasted chicken, fish fry, or homemade coleslaw, Suster's is the first place that comes to mind. They have served their famous broasted chicken since 1963! My family goes for supper here at least twice a month due to the great food and friendly service. My wife and I headed out for a traditional Wisconsin Friday night fish fry this week and we were looking for something new. I recalled a bar several miles southwest of our house in a little wide spot in the road called Shirley. Up for the adventure, we headed out. When we rolled into Shirley we quickly realized that this bar either didn't serve food or wasn't very good because the parking lot was empty. Since we were already in the area we decided to drive a little further to Denmark, WI to see what we could find. Once in Denmark, we drove past a little place called Suster's Arcade. Not sure exactly what it was all about we scoured Yelp and Google to get details. Our search uncovered that they did indeed have a fish fry on Fridays so we decided to take a chance. Suster's is a typical old-time Wisconsin tavern. They've been in business for over a hundred years and while the place is certainly nothing fancy, it looked promising. We parked ourselves at the bar and ordered a cocktail and asked about getting some food. As you will find in a lot of smaller Wisconsin taverns, Suster's takes your food order at the bar and then, when your order is ready, they call you to a table where your food is waiting. This helps them make the best use of the limited seating. We placed our order we had some time to relax and enjoy ourselves. All three of the bartenders was family and several, if not most of the rest of the staff were as well. As were were enjoying our drinks, we noticed that Suster's has a tremendous take-out business, primarily with broasted chicken and of course fish. Denmark is a small town and the steady stream of takeout orders was impressive. We might just be onto something. The bartending staff was very nice and made us feel at home as our order was prepared. After a little wait, we were informed our table was ready. There are two dining rooms. Neither is much to write home about, but that's not what we look for in a fish fry. We were seated in the smaller of the two, a room that had maybe 5 tables. We had both ordered the beer-battered deep-fried walleye. The meal included coleslaw, choice of potato, three very nice sized filets, and the obligatory slice of rye bread. My wife chose the mashed potatoes and gravy while I picked the broasted potato wedges. As my wife was getting her potatoes set up I dug right into the fish. I took my first bite and WOW. This was a rather large thick filet that has been beer-battered and deep-fried but it was amazingly light. It was seasoned perfectly and the batter was spot on. I'm talking best-ever spot on. I caught my wife as she was taking her first bite of the walleye and suggested she try it without the usual tarter sauce as I had. The look on her face as she tasted it was priceless. She was blown away by how good it was. My potato wedges were OK, nothing special. Her mashed potatoes and grave were like mom made when she took the time to get the lumps out. The coleslaw was nice. It's vinegar based with no dairy and I liked it more than normal. I've never quite figured out the rye bread at Wisconsin fish fries. Everybody servers it, sometime with a slice of onion but I don't get it.. This example was pretty average but I'm far from a rye bread enthusiast. I've been to a LOT of fish fries in restaurants and bars across the state. In our opinion, Suster's has the best fish, hands down. It was insanely light, tasty and cooked to perfection. I usually get the last piece from my wife's order but not this time. After we got back to the bar, we were surprised with battered and deep-fried Oreo cookies, which was another first and frankly, a slice of heaven. I'm pretty sure they are fat-free as well, LOL. They aren't on the menu, but ask for them if you remember. The walleye was $10.50 (I think) per person, which is quite cheap. They had perch for the same price and I will try it the next time. The people were nice, service was good, and according to my better half they make a very good Old Fashioned. We got here by accident but will be dragging friends here from now on. If you like fried chicken, then this is a good place to stop. Family style meals, all you can eat. They don't let you take anything home. Our family didn't finish what they put on the table the first round. Seems wasteful to not be able to take home the left overs. The waitress said they use the leftover chicken in other things. This doesn't sit well with me knowing food may have been pawed all over before being served to us. I would have given a higher rating otherwise. read more

Amazing food. No one could guess with a name like Suster's Arcade that they had great food. Over the years we have had great sandwiches and burgers, but last week we had the walleye and it was great. You can eat at the bar but it is a long reach so just go ahead and get a table, and then come back to the bar! Very nice people. Always stop there on the way Up North. read more
