This is a review of breakfast only: it's so good! The cafe con leche was delicious. My boyfriend had a smoothie which tasted fresh. He had the French toast. He was kind enough to let me have a bite, and it's was really good. Luckily for him, I was obsessing over my key lime pancakes. I was a delightful combo of sweet and tart. The bacon was cooked perfectly crispy as I requested. So, based on food alone I'm happy I'm a local and can go back. There is more than just good food here....let's talk about the place itself. The conch chowder was definitely not what I expected. This was a tomato-based chowder, so much more like a Boston clam chowder. It was tasty, well cooked, and a little spicy. There were plenty of pieces of conch, but just not what I expected. We also ordered the conch ceviche and the catch of the day panini (mahi fish filet). The sandwich was the absolute star and probably the best fish sandwich I've ever tried. At first we were skeptical because the bread wasn't toasted or grilled or pressed, but it turned out great! Spongy but not soggy bread, well melted cheese, some veg, creamy tartar sauce, and fresh, perfectly fried mahi. Finally, the conch ceviche was delicious and professionally executed. All the pieces were cut uniformly and the flavor was balanced between saltiness and acidity. The conch had been well marinated. Overall, a great experience. The location of this restaurant is a little difficult to spot. Even though there are signs on us1 it's very easy to miss. We drove past it and went on the side roads to reach the parking lot. Upon entering the restaurant it's a legit house. There was no indoor seating cause they were fixing it up so we just sat outside. I expected it to be humid but the shade and breeze from the sea was nice. On to the food. It has the best lobster bisque!! It's just so creamy and decadent. I ordered the pick two (salad or soup) and wrap. I opted for the lobster bisque and red snapper wrap which was a dollar extra. The snapper fish was mixed with spinach and crisp bacon. The fish was kinda bland and needed more seasoning. We shared the conch fritters and they were really good. This is my favorite restaurant. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all excellent and consistantly good. The staff is amazing (it is family run). The blueberry crunch desert is to die for. The Conch omlett and the conch eggs benedict are amazing. I also love the ginger peach tea. The lobster bisque is very good as well. I love the fish wrap, the burger panini and the Chicken Fajita wrap. Their house salad is great too. You must stop by if you are in Key Largo. read more

For some reason few locals mentioned anything to us about the Conch House. Still, we wanted to give it a try and came here the night after we went to the Fish House. Conch is a grade above the fish house when it comes to atmosphere, quality, flavor, decor and service. We enjoyed our meals here. Conch House offers crisp, fresh salads, an awesome Conch chowder, wonderful fresh fish dishes and while it might be a dollar or two more than competitors the flavor is unparalleled. After eating at a half dozen competitors we found only Ballyhoo's to have a few dishes that we better. On the other hand, I think you'd be challenged to locate anything on the menu that isn't presented or served well. This is one of the island's premier restaurants. read more

Stopped in on Sunday, Sept. 1st while spending the day in the Keys with the wife and my daughter. For an appetizer we ordered the conch fritters which paired nicely with the lager we had (can't remember which one it was sorry), the curry spices added a nice touch to the fritters and the dipping sauce was awesome. Wifey ordered the conch chowder in a tomatoe base and loved it, I had the conch tacos - note: ease up on the conch hot sauce if you're eating the tacos, the hot sauce is great but a little too much tang and not enough spice so watch out. The service was great too however, a rush of customers arrived as we were finishing up and had to wait quite a while for the check and had to walk it to the register myself so we could get going. This wasn't a big deal though, the overall experience and quality of the food outweighed this little ordeal so we will definitely be coming back very soon. Thank you Key Largo Conch House :)! Oh! This restaurant was close to where my hubby and I were staying the last day in Key Largo. And it was the best choice we made restaurant wise the whole week staying in the Keys( Key Largo and Key West). We got there around 3 pm, there was no other customers, the waitress was still quite tentative and quick at serving our food. The restaurant is located in a classic Keys-style home. The atmosphere reflects local culture well. I ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer first upon the recommendation of the server. It was server piping hot and was an excellent portion. The dishwasher really good. Not awesome, but really good. Next I got the grouper blackened "Lorenzo" style which is served under a crab-conch cake and a side of garlic mashed potatoes and cooked vegetables. The conch fritters is excellent. I prefer lump crab in cakes but the finer texture contrastes against the lumps of conch worked well. The lime butter sauce served over had a piccata flare to it. The grouper was also excellent. The blackening spice was exceptional, but the grouper fillet was extremely thin. When blackening, there is an important balance between the amount of meat and the amount of spice. I think the spice overwhelmed the filet considerable. When ordering grouper in Florida, one usually expects a filet of an inch or better. But these were about 1/2" in the thickest part. The overall experience was great and the restaurant is great. I would definitely put it in the top 5 in the upper keys. read more

Went here for breakfast. Enjoyed the vibe, except I didn't see any stroller access to the top part inside & that's a bit inconvenient for those of us with children (hello!). This is a great lunch or dinner spot in the keys for when you just want some good fresh simple grilled fish. Only taking off a star because it's a bit expensive for dinner. Lunch is very reasonably priced however. It has a very nice ambiance about it also and you can sit under the tree canopy and even though it's next to the highway it feels very separate. read more

Our party of 3 decided to stop off at Key Largo Conch House on the way to Key West. When we arrived at 1130 they already stopped serving breakfast so we tried out the lunch menu with lots of seafood varieties to choose from. For the appetizer we had the conch sampler for $19.95. Went here with my dad a couple days ago. I absolutely loved the place. The house is so nice; it's cute & cozy & very pleasant. Everyone was SO nice. They were attentive & very helpful too. We started with the appetizer sampler; I thought the crabcake & the coconut shrimp were delicious. The fried conch was good; the fritters were not my favourite, but my dad loved them. We enjoyed all the little sauces that came with it. I ordered the Mahi Almondine, with the Key Lime sauce, which was really stupid on my part. I don't actually like almonds, & that dish was most definitely not my favourite. However, my dad thought it was very good, & I know the problem was with me, not with the food. I could tell that if my personal preferences were different, I would have really enjoyed the fish. The vegetables on the side were really good, though, as were the mashed potatoes. For dessert, we got a key lime pie (10 out of 10; it was SO GOOD), & a brownie/ice cream thing (8 out of 10). Loved them both. Also, we really enjoyed the DVD playing while we ate; it was a well-done video of local scuba sites. Having just been diving for the first time ourselves, my dad was excited by it & purchased a copy. We enjoyed pointing out the fish & other things we had seen. Tried this place on advice of a coworker while shopping in Key Largo for fireworks. Fireworks describes the great caliber of food I had. Our breakfast included cracked conch Benedict which was simply heavenly, washed down with Key Lime mimosas and café con leche. The ambience of sitting out on the porch was simply wonderful. I will definitely return again to try lionfish, that non-native species invading the Keys that needs to be eaten!! No doubt in my mind this establishment will prepare it deliciously. read more

The crab cake and coconut shrimp were tasty. The fish tacos were big slabs of friend fish with tons of red cabbage, salsa, and a chili mayonnaise. They weren't bad, but weren't great. Had a lovely meal here when we stopped off on our drive down to Key West after finding it recommended in our Lonely Planet book. We received a warm welcome and received great service from our server. We started with drinks, I had the Key Lime Mimosa & my husband ordered a beer. The mimosa was one of the best I've ever drank, delicious. My husband and I ordered the daily special which was blackened trigger fish with BLT in a wholewheat wrap and the coconut macadamia mahi mahi panini. Both were absolutely delicious! I would recommend both dishes, they have a great menu and everything sounded so good. We couldn't leave without having their Key Lime Pie - also amazing, we ate it up in minutes. This restaurant has been featured on several tv programs, including Man Vs Food. I would definitely recommending stopping by for food. The place has a great charm about it. read more

My boyfriend and I were staying in Key Largo for a wedding and asked around for a recommendation on where to get the best fish tacos. We were pointed to The Conch House and went for dinner. The host took about 15 minutes to sit us. He had a large party that he was trying to get situated, however that was a pretty long time considering they had a table available. Finally a server came out and sat us. There are only about 6 or 7 tables inside and quite a few more on their patio. The ambiance was nice. It had pictures of Emeril and Adam from Man Vs. Food. We tried the conch fritters because other reviewers had raved about them. They were just okay. After one or two they kind of lose their luster. We then wanted to order the fish tacos but didn't see them on their dinner menu. We asked the waitress about them and she said they only serve them at lunch. We were pretty disappointed, so she said they'd make them for us anyways. That was very nice! They came out and were okay. Definitely not the best fish tacos I've ever had, but weren't bad. They came with a side of warm tortilla chips. We got the key lime pie for dessert and that was very good! Overall, I'd say it's a good idea to give this place a shot. I visited today with high hopes after seeing the restaurant on Man vs Food. As stated in other reviews the Fritters were mostly breading, with tiny chewy bits of conch. Good taste, but overly chewy, not due to the conch My son got the mahi basket, and it was dry and flavorless. The lobster bisque did not taste like lobster and no discernible pieces of lobster. The service is very slow, though pleasant. The key lime pie is good, with lime purée drizzled over top and whipped cream on the side. Not a big piece, not dense, not too sweet.
