Hogfish Reuben
Steven F.

Stopped in for lunch the other day and had the Hogfish Reuben. There were two fresh perfectly cooked and seasoned hogfish fillets on fresh toasted marble rye with a crunchy, sweet Cole slaw and an amazing homemade dressing with a slight kick to it. An awesome sandwich!!

Lobster roll

Initially, we were deterred by "cash only" but got past it after reading the reviews. Best food in the Keys. Small batch, quality ingredients (non-gmo, organic), and unique dishes. There's plenty of seafood spots around, which all seem to have your standard dishes with huge portions but here, you'll find huge portions with the quality ingredients. Lobster roll and tuna tacos had chunks of seafood. The She Crab Soup is a must - add some sherry to it. Get the fresh squeezed lemonade too. Tip: There's an ATM w/in walking distance so don't let cash only deter you.

Greek salad with Ahi Tuna

We just left here and WOW! Amazing food!! We had one of their fish specials (Southwest style) and it was so good! Also enjoyed their Greek salad with fresh ahi tuna. Told the owner the fish special was the best fish dish I have had in a long time! They are very nice too, it was fun chatting with the owners. BYOB!

Greek salad with Mahi & sushi grade tuna.

Well to start, we live in Atlanta and we are foodies. We were going to just buy seafood and make it dazzle. However we didn't want to cook. We got the Greek salad with mahi and added sushi grade tuna which they boasted was the best I would ever have. I decided to take them up on it. Oh my, they knocked it out of the park. Skip the other yelps and go with something amazing and eccentric in an eccentric environment along with a chef that maybe having a beer while you walk away in and watch you as you taste his culinary creations. Wow what a meal. Bring your own bottle of vino.

So excited that Calypso's is back! This new location is right on the highway so it's easy to find. The best she crab soup ever! Everything is off the charts amazing. We live the "seahorse sandwich" - yellowfin tuna seared rare and topped with horseradish sauce and served on a brioche bun. YUM. Chef Todd is so talented. And be sure to save room for their cupcakes or pie. It's all good. Note! CASH ONLY!!

Tuna tacos

The best she crab soup in the world!

After 7 years, they are back and it doesn't get any better. A new location but the same delicious food and great owners! The she crab soup is the best I have ever had, so good that I wouldn't attempt to order it anywhere else! Today we shared steak quesadilla, tender, delicious and a huge portion . Also shared yummy tuna tacos! Stuffed but happy!

The pineapple hogfish was easily one of my top seafood dishes of all time. My son had the cobra steak sandwich which in his words was epic. We can't wait to go back. ...Do not leave without ordering the she crab soup!!

Politics before food. Not what I look for in a restaurant. Insulting service and ambiance.

Good food but your anti-vac opinions are not what I wanted when I came for dinner. We won't be back.

Five stars, and I want to explain this properly because High Tide in Key Largo is absolutely a…read moreplace people should experience at least once. This is one of those spots that immediately tells you it's a local favorite the second you walk in. It feels homey, lived in, and deeply rooted in the community. The average crowd definitely skews older, which honestly just shows how loyal the regulars are and how long this place has been doing something right. We stood for a minute or two when we arrived, which wasn't a problem at all, but the initial interaction felt a little abrupt. Nothing hostile, just very direct and urgent. We later found out that Cathy is the owner, and it became clear very quickly that this place is her whole world. She works hard, moves fast, and runs on urgency. That energy can sometimes come off sharp, especially to visitors who aren't used to that local, no frills style, but we gave her the benefit of the doubt. There were moments throughout our visit where the tone felt a little rough around the edges, and it wasn't just with us, we noticed it with other tables too. It didn't feel personal, more like someone who is stretched thin and running on fumes. To her credit, there were moments where she self corrected, and I genuinely believe this was just a long day rather than bad intentions. Running a place like this day in and day out is not easy, and you can feel how much effort goes into keeping it moving. This review isn't meant to tear anyone down, just to be honest for future guests so they know what to expect walking in. What truly changed our entire experience and pushed this from a four star visit to a solid five was our server. Her name started with a T, she wore glasses, and she was African American, and she was an absolute blessing. She treated us with warmth, patience, and genuine care, like we were family she was looking out for. When we sat down and the table needed to be wiped, she handled it gracefully without a single awkward moment. Everything she did felt intentional and kind. She was attentive without hovering, respectful, and genuinely happy to be doing her job. There was also a sweet older Latina woman clearing tables who was just as lovely and welcoming. It became very clear that despite the different personalities, this place functions as a team, and the heart of High Tide lives in the people who treat guests with care and humanity. If you get that server whose name starts with a T, you are in excellent hands. Now let's talk about the food, because this is where High Tide really shines. The hash brown casserole is a straight ten out of ten. No exaggeration. Comfort food perfection. Crispy, savory, and absolutely worth ordering. The country style platter we ordered was also a ten according to my friend, hearty and satisfying in the best way. The lobster benedict was good, I would give it about an eight. It's a fun, unique option if you want to try something different, but not the standout compared to the rest of the menu. And then there's the real star of the show, the Key lime pie. Even if you are not hungry, come for the pie. This is hands down the best Key lime pie I have ever had. Perfectly balanced, not overly tart, smooth and almost cheesecake like in texture. It's the kind of dessert that makes you pause after the first bite because it's that good. Beautifully presented too. The decor is charming and thoughtfully cluttered in a way that feels authentic, not staged. The bathrooms are old but very clean. Parking is a little quirky but manageable, and there is parking available if you're patient. Overall, the vibe is cozy, memorable, and unmistakably local. Would I come back? Absolutely, especially for the food and that pie. Cathy, you are clearly working your ass off, and I hope this was just a rough day. This review comes with honesty and flowers, not shade. Five stars for the food, the heart, and the people who make this place what it is. I do recommend it.

Then salad came, and 2 minutes later, the main dishes were delivered. Very good onion rings. Caesar salad dressing was thin with no taste.

Lots of outdoor seating and plenty inside too. Pro tip- wear long pants and bring a light long sleeve top. I get eaten up by mosquitos every time. It's a fun, chill atmosphere. Food: only reason I took a star off is the price has gotten very expensive. 2 entrees, 1 app, 1 mocktail was about $150. The fish dip was sooo good!!!, but again, pricy at $20. I got the fried coconut shrimp basket which comes with a few hush puppies that are pretty large in size and french fries. The taste for all of it was very good. My husband got hog fish w/ rice and veg medley and it was good, he loved the rice, but again pricy at mid $40's. All in all, this is always a great place to come!

We settled on conch fritters and simple cheeseburger. Burger was $21.00 and was just so-so. Conch fritters were $19.00 but they were excellent. Large portion and actually had conch inside, not just breading. We like to sit at the bar and enjoy the music but it was honestly too rowdy of a band for a 6 pm family crowd. We heard one family ask to be seated inside because the music was too loud. Whatever happened to the nice Island vibe for your music? Bring back some acoustic musicians please.. Tip: Happy hour domestic drafts were $4.50
