The stand is located right outside the Key West Aquarium, and they make the fritters fresh to order. They were very hot. There are several sauces to choose from. At the time, we had nothing to compare them to and thought they were pretty good. After trying conch fritters at a few other places, we realized these were just okay. Great location by Mallory Square. The owner taking our order was hilarious. Great humor and life advice came out of him. He quickly took our order while the cook would start preparing our smorgasbord of a feast before we even paid. Fantastic teamwork. As our food came out the side window, we prepared a variety of sauces to try with all this deep fried delight. Sitting at one of the tree benches by the nearby fountain gave us the opportunity to people watch the cruisers coming off the ships. Four adults and two kids devoured this deliciousness. Never had conch fritters so might as well try it from this supposedly world famous stand right? Located right next to the aquarium entrance in the heart of Mallory Square its kind of hard to miss this stand even though its little. First of all, why is it so pricey? You can either get 6 for $7.50 or 12 for $12.50. So I got the 6 piece. I guess the good thing is that it's freshly deep fried after ordering so you gotta wait a couple minutes. I bite into one and the best way I can describe it is that its basically a hush puppy with bits of conch meat mixed in. The taste and texture is similar to calamari but not as flavorful. According to their sign: "Our secret is useing plenty of sweet conch meat! Mix it with garlic and lime juice, salt and black pepper, onions, flour, sweet n hot peppers, then fry to a golden brown" - Greg Curry, Proprietor. Yes I know I spelled "useing" wrong. That's exactly what they have on their sign. From the description it makes it sound like its really flavorful but it's really not. I even dipped it in the key lime mustard and it didn't help it much. So bottom line is that its not for me. If you like hush puppies than conch fritters can be your thing too. I was more disappointed than anything when I couldn't taste any of the description. Did not like the conch fritters here at all! Was here for the day on a cruise ship stop and was really looking forward to getting conch fritters in Key West. To start off, the two men working were not the least bit friendly. The fritters themselves were very dense and dry with hardly any conch meat. If I didn't know what was supposed to be inside I could never have guessed conch. After seeing pics on Yelp I saw that everyone else was given the key lime dipping sauce which probably would have made a big difference, however I was never given any sauce or even told they had sauce. They are almost a little sweet which I guess is a result of the sweet corn involved. They aren't overly heavy or greasy, so they are delightful little morsel to enjoy while walking around Mallory Square. I didn't know about the key lime mustard but once we put a little in the tip jar we were offered a little cup and I'm so glad we were because it was the perfect accompaniment. Search for this place on google and you'll find plenty of people commenting on this humble food stand as their favorite place for conch and one of the oldest conch vendors on the island. Their menu consists of many different seafood-related snacks: grouper fish and chips, chicken, shrimp, calamari, onion rings, fries, and conch fritters. The prices are very cheap, with most snacks coming in at around $5 or under. Conch fritters were $6 for 6, or $11 for 12. They also had this fantastic-sounding combination plate special, consisting multiple types of fried seafood for $10. As for drinks, keylimeade sounded very intriguing. I was quite sad that I wasn't hungry enough to try more things on the menu. I had conch fritters, of course, with a little bit of key lime mustard sauce. be heavy-handed with the sauce, because the flavor is subtle. The staff there was super quick and super friendly.
