I quickly learned that places in the keys don't heat up your lobster unless you ask so this one was chilled but it was still really good. This shack came highly recommended from social media so I was excited to try "Key West's best conch fritters". However, this was not our experience. The conch fritters were overcooked and burnt. They were extremely hard and crunchy. We did notice that the cook stepped away for a long time while our conch fritters were in the deep fryer cooking, causing them to be overcooked. However, we were the only customers there, so they could have easily remade a fresh batch that was not overcooked. I would not try this shack again or recommend it to others. read more

For a little shack along Duval St, they had pretty good fish and chips (fries). I tried the conch fritters and it wasn't my favorite, but that may just be me since I've never had conch before. Reasonable prices for Key West food. The guy working the front window was pleasant enough and the food was ready within five minutes. They have very very limited seating outside the shack (nothing inside), but it's right beside an outdoor bar so you get to listen to their music as you eat. read more

Aww, I'm so glad we made it because my sister had been talking about this place for a while. She and my brother-in-law went to Key West some time ago and passed by this location. They didn't stop then, but after reading the reviews, they promised themselves that the next time they came back, this would be one of the first places they visited--and it was exactly the first stop we made. The lobster roll had a veryyy generous amount of lobster - although I could've done with some less butter on the bun. We tried the conch fritters - they were okay. I was looking for a good "cheap" spot in Key West to get fried seafood and found this place. While $67 is not exactly cheap by my standards for what we got, I guess it is relative to Key West. Anyway, I had the seafood platter and Hubby had the lobster roll and fries. The fish and shrimp in my platter tasted fresh and were really good. The conch fritters were pretty spicy as they have jalapeños in them, but they balanced well with the tartar sauce. Hubby said his lobster roll was "a'ight". The hand cut fries are amazing! My husband and I like to try new-to-us foods when we travel. We stumbled upon The Conch Shack during a recent short trip to Key West, and had to try their conch fritters. Widely consumed in the Bahamas and southern Florida, minced conch (shellfish) are traditionally mixed into a seasoned batter made of cornmeal, chopped vegetables (onions, bell peppers, celery, jalapeño peppers), lemon juice, tomato paste, and seasonings (creole seasoning, black pepper). After being formed into bite-sized balls and deep-fried, the fritters are served with a dipping sauce. In the case of this restaurant, it's a tangy key lime aioli dipping sauce. We ordered a 6-piece order "snack" to share ($10, Feb 2024) from the walk-up counter. Staff we're friendly, and the fritters were served hot from the oil and the accompanying beer was cold. The fritters and dipping sauce were both tasty. We ate this at the small outdoor long table, while listening to the sounds (no visuals) of live music from a neighboring establishment. Fried goodness in conch form you sooo know I'm all over that! So this was basically a little hole in the wall spot that had just what we were searching for right as we walked by so we got it! Our conch was very tasty totally yummy and just hit the fried spot very much so my favorite of the two sauces tasted like a spicy thousand island and it really went well with them as the batter was yummy and the conch nice and chewy definitely making for an awesome treat! There are a few seats around the shack and it feels very much like a diner since you can see them prepare your order! The staff here were very friendly! They took my order and chatted with me while it was cooking. After I received my hot a fresh trio, they continued to ask if I needed anything and how it was tasting! The food: I love ceviche, so I wish you got a larger order but it was still tasty! The fried conch was my least favorite, only because of the texture it is chewy and hard to eat. A 3.5 for The Conch Shack, which is literally a shack located on the bustling Duval St. in Key West. According to the owner, as of Saturday 8/12/23, they would've been here for 14 years. If you haven't tried conch fritters (sounds like konk) it's a shelled seafood dipped in batter and deep fried, and usually served with a spicy sauce. We ordered a dozen conch fritters and a fish sandwich. These fritters were better than other places we tried, but be warned, it's mostly breaded batter. Still, makes for a good snack while in the Keys. 4/5. We also got a fried fish sandwich. The bun it came on was perfect. But the fish itself was bland and it looked like they were a few small pieces of fish stacked on top of each other instead of one filet. 2/5. The food was prepared quickly and stayed hot and crispy in the bag even after about 15 minutes. There are only 4 counter seats to eat at the front and a few more in the back. Menu is posted outside for anyone to see. The place is called the Conch Shack and it is a little shack. There is limited seating so you may need to plan to take your food to go. If you like Beer then you can get a can of beer here for only $5 to go with your food. I think my the hand cut fries are best thing. The seafood platter was great. The seafood was perfectly fried. With fried food I always worry about it being over cooked but that was not the case here. The fried conch was also was very good too. I would call the ambience here as rustic. read more

Nice spot on Duval about 1/2 block east of Front St. which serves a variety of items that should satisfy a snack type hunger. My wife & I split a Conch Ceviche & Mahi Bites. The ceviche is very good and has a nice bite & spice to it (not hot). The mahi bites are cubed pieces of Mahi in a light batter and served in a paper boat with cocktail or tartare sauce. It took about 5 months to get both items and the folks who served us were very nice and friendly. The place has about 7 chairs if you wish to sit or about another 7 standing spots. You can hear the music from Captain Tony's if you choose to sit by parking lot area with a tree that provides a nice amount of shade. read more
