I didn't want to leave a bad review but my kids urged me to do so. The staffs were wonderful and very nice. The restaurant was nice with classic Nantucket feel to it. What's missing is the food. Except the prime rib which is decent, the lobster, the shrimp and the Duffy steak were all pretty sad. They ruined the steak by pouring massive amount of teriyaki sauce. The lobster was very overcooked. I just wanted to point out again the service was good but the food we got made us feel like a tourist trap. read more

We drove from Miami to Key West which took a few hours due to all the traffic and the scenic highway, bridges with water on both sides. Without reservations, we were fortunate to find this restaurant. We started with a Caesar salad and a dinner salad. Steaks cooked perfectly. Lobster tail way too overdone. Does not come with drawn butter just hot oil. It tastes nothing like butter and when hot butter cools it starts to harden back up this stayed a complete oil. Lobster so tough and overcooked I had trouble cutting it with my steak knife. I can't review the food, drink or service. Here's why. On a rainy Saturday night, my wife and I walked several blocks to have dinner. When we reached Duffy's, all of the lights -- inside and out -- were burning bright, but the place was locked and empty. There was no sign on the door to indicate why they would close on a Saturday night. Earlier, I called twice to make a reservation but the phone just rang and rang. The was no message or answering service. Management shows a total disregard for customers. Had we known they were closed we would have made other plans. Instead, we missed dinner entirely thanks to Duffy's. read more

This place could do so much better, but the food is just not what we thought it would be. We came on a Thursday and it was not busy at all. The steaks were not cooked right, and the shrimp was waaaaaaaaay overdone and bland, even soaked in the butter. The server was nice, The drinks weren't bad. We were told to go here for dinner by the Mother-in-Law. She was spot on with this recommendation. What a great restaurant. I had the prime rib, which was a very generous serving. My wife had the ribeye. My brother-in-law had the seafood platter. Everyone enjoyed their food. Prices were reasonable for Key West. It is a smaller cozy restaurant and felt very genuine. Parking was on the street only, unless you wanted to walk a few blocks from a public parking lot. I would recommend this restaurant off the beaten path. Enjoy! read more

I had the Florida lobster. The lobster was excellent. But the only accompaniment was French fries; no vegetables. I also had the lobster bisque which was good. Service was just so, so. Wow! The 6 oz lobster and 9 oz prime rib was on top of the world! Brenda was an excellent server and made recommendations and is well known for the prime rib. The lobster is purchased offshore every other day or during lobster season. The place is kept very clean as the windows, doors and floors are nicely maintained. To start the service was amazing. It wasn't a long wait and service was fast. We were seated and our order was taken immediately. The food arrived promptly and was absolutely delicious. I had their prime rib and lobster tail and ordered their crab cake meal to go since I'd seen so many good reviews about them. NOTHING disappointed! The prime rib tasted like meat-flavored butter, the lobster was tender and perfect, my piña colada was delicious... the crab cakes later were a huge hit! I don't think they used any breading! It was pure crab and flavors! Amazing! Perfect place to end our vacation. read more

Reading the reviews some folks left are really not fair in my opinion. If you're coming from the north east expecting lobster like we get back home then you're not reading the menu correctly. It clearly says broiled lobster tail and it's says FL lobster not cold water. That being said, I got the surf and turf prime rib and lobster tail. I thought it was very fairly priced for the area. A little over $200 for 4 of us and we all had the prime rib at minimum with drinks. That's close to what we were paying for breakfast at some places on the island. The rib was cooked great, the bread was fresh and warm, and the au jus and horse radish sauce ware perfect. Tied for 1st with the best meal we had there in the 5 days we were there. read more

I'm gonna make this a quick writeup because I don't really want to think about this dinner too much. Sorry, Duffy's, but in my 5 trips to Key West, you definitely hit the bottom of the barrel on memorable meals. The second night of my February visit to the Keys with some friends found us here, but it won't happen again. I mean I don't want to be super mean to Duffy's. Their interior aesthetics weren't...horrible. The place had hints and fleeting notes of something nautical, though in the same breath you might feel like you're in a chain restaurant (like Ground Round). Staff wasn't too bad either as the hostess and our server were friendly enough. Though this can only take your experience so far. We started with some alligator tail (fried) and shrimp cocktail. My apologies for the lack of pics (some inebriation had started to set in), though I can't say you're missing too much. The alligator was relatively tasty though a little chewy. Not necessarily something I'd order again. Shrimp cocktail I didn't partake in, but there weren't any major complaints there. Really the unfortunateness came from the steak. I guess you can't fault a restaurant for serving meh-meat in the middle of a seafood haven, but even so, you'd expect something better than the fatty piece of beef I and two of my buddies had to endure. Duffy's Rib Eye Steak is the sad excuse I'm referring to with its massive amount of teriyaki sauce that drowned out any other flavor. Plus the pineapple that donned the top (and wasn't in the description) was just a confusing addition. The potato was the best part of the plate and that's pretty bad. Even worse would be that I paid $38 for this thing. I could get a steak at Texas Roadhouse for half that price and it would've been exponentially better. Oy. Overall, just don't come to Duffy's Steak and Lobster if/when you find yourself in Key West. The word steak might have carnivores salivating, but I promise it's not worth the trek down to Duffy's. Stick with seafood and hope that your memory never includes any meals from this House. read more

I ordered Jumbo Fried Shrimp for $31.99. The shrimp were tiny. The waitress said its was because they weren't cut Butterfly. I saw another table get served shrimp that were butterfly in a different dish , and their's were much much larger. The waitress gave me an extra thanks for my 18% tip, and I could tell she wasnt expecting that much, considering. Of course it wasn't her fault, and tipping 18% rather than 25% is unjustly punishing her. If I could negatively-tip thevestablishment they might correct things going forward. I assume the management has a policy of being stingy and not making customers whole. I'm sure I'm not the only customer that stiffed with shrimpy jumbos. read more
