Fantastic venue to watch sunset although obscured by the Sunset Key as it gets low in the sky. Service was sketchy. Non English speaker who forgot a simple request for mayo so we could try to choke down our chicken sandwich. Food was uniquely terrible. Chicken sandwich was small for $21 and I swear it was frozen and microwaved prior to bringing out to the table. It was so dry and obviously over microwaved, but we did not say anything we just asked for mayo to try to chock it down, but the mayo never came. This is an overpriced venue that cannot even get bar food right. For the price, food quality, lackluster service, too loud music, and obstructed view, do yourself a favor and go to the Tiki Bar at the Galleon for picture perfect sunsets, followed by dinner on the marina. Spent over 2 weeks here this time and have each June for the past 20. Last year I met my Son and Daughter in law there for drinks but did not eat. Tonight is our last night here and I wanted to do something different with my girlfriend. Should have taken my own advice and stayed at the Galleon. The Sunset Pier is adjacent to Mallory Square. It is very casual. We were the first ones on the pier. The chairs were stools, which I find very uncomfortable, also the pier gets quite hot. There were a number of chairs with backs. Randi, our waitress, was great and didn't rush us while we decided on our drinks, and food. There was music as you got closer to Sunset. Try the Key Lime Pie. It is the official pie of Florida. We walked back to Mallory Square for the Sunset, but you can enjoy the Sunset right from the Sunset Pier, and enjoy the band. read more

The sunset here was gorgeous! The food was great, but I was so busy taking in the views that I forgot to snag pictures. They have draft beer, bottle and a full bar. Lots of local craft beers as well. The Sunset Pier has a great location and we enjoyed sitting on the pier while a young woman sang and played guitar. She was really enjoyable. The view is the draw and didn't disappoint but we had less than a great experience. First and foremost, the service was very slow when ordering or getting the check but the food came out quickly by a different person. I ordered a Paloma and it was awful. I didn't complain but can say that I would not recommend this drink. It was sour. My husband's pina colada was excellent. I ordered a lobster roll (served with fries) and although it was not traditional, there was plenty of lobster and the bun was toasted. My husband's burger was very large and greasy. For dessert, the key lime pie was quite good. Finally, the bathrooms are located in the parking garage nearby and I had to ask for directions. Make sure to get their early if you actually want a seat for "the show." We just ordered drinks while we were there, but the service was a bit slow. First time in Key West so we decided to try and catch the sunset here. We went early about 1-2 hour early thinking it would fill up. It did get busier but not close to full on our visit. We sat at the bar since the pier was completely empty, and I think no server in sight. Also, it was out of direct sun/heat. Very laid back atmosphere. Beware of mosquitoes in August. I got eaten alive. Drinks are expensive as anticipated and nothing fancy. I had a few of the specialty frozen cocktails which I believe is ready to serve type. You're definitely paying for the view more so. The bartenders were great though. 5 stars on service itself. We were celebrating our anniversary and she chatted with us and made our experience. This is a plus star. I got the ceviche which was good. Pricy menu. Wasn't able to justify anything else. Was sad that there are signs at the bar warning about eating raw oysters but none on the menu. The kicker is I never felt that I saw the sunset. One of the bartenders said it's it'll be over there, you can't miss it. Perhaps, the horizon was on the cloudy side and maybe I had too many drinks to care but it was nothing out of a picture book. The food was ok... the portions were really small and so expensive paid $15 dollars for 3 small pretzel bites, kinda got scammed. I liked the atmosphere but come on its key west so of course it's going to be nice and tropical. But probably the worst part is the service we had this waitress who was probably the worst. We wanted to sit in the high standing tables but forced our group to the smaller lower tables, which sucked. Also she would barely come to out table when we wanted something. Then probably the absolutely worst part is when we got to pay. We had to already pay for the overpriced food then when i wanted to give no tip on my card she forcefully selected a 25% tip which I told her I didnt want to tip and she said it is required which I thought was crazy. Well i didnt want to make a scene so i went ahead and paid. I am 100% confident she used us since we look young but i would not come here ever again after going through that.
