Dr Amanda Hoelscher spent literally 3-5 minutes doing an "examination " after the staff has corralled you from one room to the next. I almost contacted the insurance company to verify this is legal. Very disappointed. I originally utilized the branch off 75 for my initial lasik and was very happy, however if this is how they have converted all of the offices I would suggest finding an eye doctor that does a full examination. Also the lenses keep pooping out of my new glasses that were purchased. Very poor service and quality read more

I went to an optometrist about a year ago, a regular doctor about a month ago. They both said to go to get my eye looked at by a specialist. So, the doctor referred me. I went to see Dr Warren. I get online, and fill out the documents the day before. Not too hard. They have to give you a password. I get in the office, and the tech does an eye exam. The equipment was ratheur old, and not in good shape. It caused double vision. I do not think it was supposed to. So, I think my lense prescription may not be accurate. The equipment of my daughter's optometrist is state of the art and computerized. So, I think if this is a major surgery center, then maybe there is state of the art equipment. I asked the tech, and she said they had some in another room. I said maybe we should go in there. We did not. Now, dr Warren walks in, sits, and does about a 2 minute look. She did not notice the problem the first time. As she got up, I asked if she saw anything unusual. She said no. I said the doctors sent me here because the pupil is discolored on the edge. She looked back for about 30 seconds, and said i have a tumor in the eye, gave me the card of another eye doctor to see,. I said that the eye is also getting dry at night(in my internet information filled out), and does she have something for it ? She let the tech take care of it from there. The tech gave me some Systane. I said that did not work, so they got some prescription samples that I will try. I walked out to pay the bill, and the tech came back to get me. They forgot to take a picture of the tumor. 15 minutes later, i left. I will go to my daughter's optometrist to see what the differences will be in the prescription strength of the glasses. They are known for lazer surgery, but maybe not a total specialist of the eye. read more

I wish I could leave a good review, but I cannot. I called KW in late April and inquired about cataract surgery with a replacement lens..Crystal Lens or another brand. I was very clear in my conversation with the representative that my goals were to get out of glasses, and that I would be paying for this out of pocket. She assured me that was a realistic goal, and that I could expect to pay about $4,000.00 pr eye. I made the appointment. I had all the required tests and spoke to the doctor. H recommended the Symfony Lens for my situation and said aside from reading small text I should not need glasses. I was ready to go. Then I went and spoke to the counselor Jan to review costs and whether my insurance would cover any of the procedure. I knew I had not met my deductible so knew this would be out of pocket. The cost however was just shy of $12,000. The counselor Jan assured me that was the cost, and she could not control what I was told on the phone. I scheduled the surgeries but never felt right about it. I thought maybe I made a mistake. I had my wife call and ask them the same questions I did. Again $4,00 and eye is what we were told. I cancelled the surgery at this point. Very dismayed. I thought bait and switch was a practice that only bad car dealers used. Clearly this practice though has adopted this strategy. read more

As others have noted, Dr. Eisenstein's practice was taken over by Key Whitman associates following his passing. My family was with Dr. Eisenstein for years, and frankly we were spoiled by his awesome service. He is very much so missed. As for Key Whitman associates, I AM NOT IMPRESSED. I decided to go to Dr. Amanda Hoelscher since my records were still at the Coit office, and because I knew that I would be investigating Lasix this year. There was nothing in particular that was overwhelming irritating during the visit, I just was not thrilled with the overall visit, but I got my prescriptions updated which was the goal. I went on to book a lasix evaluation and was told that I would need to go to the Central location where those are completed. I was then told that it would be a 2.5 hour visit! Although their phone messages indicate that they have weekend hours, I was informed that this was not an option for lasix evaluation. Now I got out my magic wand and was able to carve out some time during the week to leave work that early to make the evaluation visit. I got to the appointment with decent time to spare for paperwork. They have me in the waiting room for over an hour! When the tech came to collect me, I was informed that she was the only one in her department that day to do the appropriate scans, and she apologized for the wait. I visited shortly after they moved to the new office, so there were some things they were still trying to smooth out which was understandable. After all of the scans were done (a WHOLE 5 MINUTES!), I waited another 10-15 minutes for the counselor to speak with me. At that time, I was told my corneas showed some irregularities and that the physician wanted me to see their cornea specialist Dr. Haq in the Plano office. The counselor then began to investigate an appointment for me which would require ANOTHER 2 hour visit. In of itself, that would not be a problem, but I was told that my particular type of appointment could not be scheduled any later than 1:30. So basically, taking another half day off from work as I work near down town and this specialist was at their Plano office. After fuming subsided from that visit, I decided to go ahead and see about getting the specialist visit scheduled. After some back and forth, I was able to get a slightly later visit so I would not miss as much work. Again I arrived in decent time, about 20 minutes early. The wait was not as bad, I was pulled back within 10-15 minutes for the first scan. I waited another 10 or so minutes to be taken back for the second scan and eventually put into the consult room. As I was waiting on the doctor, his "liaison" came in to explain to me that they were referring me to another cornea specialist! He goes on to tell me that there are irregularities with my corneas and that although Dr. Haq is a specialist, he would like another specialist to evaluate to be sure. As I questioned him regarding why he was providing this information instead of Dr. Haq, he proceeded to explain how busy Dr. Haq is with other patients. Now granted, the gentleman was nice and respectful, and frankly just doing his job as instructed. But I was rather DONE with the experience, especially, after he was completely caught off guard when I told him that I had been evaluated at the Dallas office and then referred to Dr. Haq for that reason. The left hand clearly did not know what the right hand was doing. I am a health care provider myself, I do not have unreasonable expectations of my own providers. But this experience has been ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! I am completely DISGUSTED by the service Key Whitman provides! I understand the need to delegate to deal with demand, and I also understand the need to be thorough. I certainly do not want to have my eyes botched because things were not assessed adequately, but the quality of service leaves much to be desired from this group (mind you this was at 3 different locations). The fact that I did not speak to a physician regarding the cornea irregularities on either occasion, yet they think it is significant enough to make yet another referral (AND YES, I STILL DO NOT KNOW WHAT IT IS) is infuriating. I will not be returning or visiting their newest referral as I have zero faith at this point. I absolutely DO NOT recommend Key Whitman associates. Very disappointed! read more

Overall I'm very happy with Key-Whitman. I had all my tests and such dine by a wonderful technician. He was pleasant, informative, thorough, and efficient. That hour breezed by. THEN, I waited in a cold quiet room for 37 minutes before the doctor came in, spent 3 minutes with me and left. Really!?! Why do we even need to see the doctor? The COA was great! read more

I had a longer than I would have liked wait time because they had emergency patients. But the receptionist was very professional, patient and sweet and the environment was not stressful during the wait. I was seen by George who did my new patient exam was so pleasant and professional, equipment was great for glaucoma screening because it does not blow a puff into your eye to do what it needs to. Dr. Faber was so pleasant and informative and finally the nurse was also very pleasant when finishing things up with me. By the time I left I wasn't unhappy at all about the wait. I had Lasik performed by Dr. Kim Warren. I would strongly recommend her to anyone and would request her for any of my family members. I appreciate her professional doctor-patient relationship. Her demeanor during the surgery made me very comfortable and relaxed. I am enjoying my Lasik. read more

Worst experience with Plano office. Wrong information in the chart and Kenny Johnson (Claims to be the manager) arguing with the patient. Went for routine eye exam, but chart shows patient complained symptoms, which i never did and related codes submitted to insurance. Not sure if its a Insurance fraud. Hope to hear back from the corporate office. read more

First the good: the team here assumes you want vision correction (Lasik or PRK) because, in all honesty, who wouldn't?! I had PRK (slightly longer recovery) because I was not a good candidate for lasik. PRK and Lasik were the same price which was nice. I did NOT feel like cattle. Doctors were knowledgable and covered all the bases and spent a lot of time with me. They were genuinely concerned for me and my vision. The only bad (and it's not bad if you plan for it): presurgery appointments run about 3 hours. Even the "quick" appointments are 90 mins. BUT, they are going to correct you're vision, you WANT them to take as long as possible to ensure its going to be correct. Post surgery, it's a 10 minute wait in the waiting room, 30 mins in exam - like any doctor office. As for vision correction: it's been such a blessing to be able to see perfectly for the first time in my life. I should have done it a long, long time ago. And, I am really glad I did it with Key-Whitman and Dr. Razi, Dr. Warren, and Dr. Haq. They are awesome. One note: don't mistake their quickness for insincerity. They speak fast and move fast. It's more like they are highly caffeinated. They care tremendously for each patient. read more

I already knew I needed cataract surgery. I was diagonsed while caring for my dying parents. At that time I did not have time to have the surgery. When my parents passed I moved back to Dallas. I did the reasearch and chose K.W. My first visit was very professional and efficient. Testing was very thorough even though most were unnecessary in my case. It is just the way they do things no problem . 2nd visit for surgery is where things went horribly wrong. I arrived 10 min. early checked in all paperwork was complete. They seemed suprised by this I was not. I went to sit down they call me back to desk for locator badge. Stupid me I reached for the badge with my right arm and pinched a nerve arm went numb. Sat down with arm in lap noticed badge and clipped it to my fly cradled my arm to relieve the nerve. Was called by counselor went to her office for surgery consult. First thing she does is try to sell me upgraded Toric lenses and L.R.I. I said no as the end result is I will still have to wear glasses. The cost outweighs any benifit. I have had this stig. all my life no glasses until I was 47 before that 20/20. Anytime anyone says may or might it is gambling the house always wins no gambling for me. She seemed to get irrated by that. Then it was on to the 5th grade science model of the eye she put it on her desk. I told her we don't need to go through this I already know what is going to happen. I asked if she wanted me to explain it to her she said yes. I explained it and asked am I right she said yes. She really got irratated by that and stood up with that witch look on her face. In a condesending voice she asked should I continue I responded sure why not. She then went onto surgical history and drug regimines I'm on. Told her no prob with anest. and I am already on pre op drug regimine since last month. The look on her face was anger at this point. We get to the heart monitor I ask if I have to shave my chest before surgery the sticky pads do not stick to me. She ignored me refusing to answer the question tried to push me aside like a 2 yr old. I pressed her for an answer. I pulled up my shirt and showed her why I needed the answer no dry shaving me on my chest ever again. At this point she leaned over her desk to get in my face and called me HOSTILE! To me that is an uncalled for act of agression I went into defence mode. Numb from adrenilin and endorphins I slid the chair I was sitting in back and stood up quickly. I looked down at her and said I am not hostile towards anyone have a good day. She could not leave things alone she had to yell good at my back as I was walking out the door. I have never been treated like this before. Her actions were uncalled for and totally unprofessional. I was never asked or told to leave her office I chose to leave to deescalate the situation. I went home. Tried to find another Doc. well they will not accept KW eye tests so I am out of pocket for the new tests. KW does not have a policy or procedure to file a complaint. They have not contacted me over this either. I finally hand wrote a 3 page complaint and hand delivered it 4 days later. The next day I receive a call from them. Their answer was I don't know what happened she is the best counselor we have. I see you are looking for someone else to do your surgery tell us who and we will send your test data to them. Twice I had to tell her that I called 6 different places all said they do not accept anyone elses test data. Then she said I will cancel your surgeries. I was shocked to learn that they pushed me on to surgery without imerssion test and RX for preop eyedrops. I walked out before any of these things were done and nobody cared. I told them I fired you on the 12th. She said I will get YOUR termination letter right out. I said oh no you don't I don't work for you, you work for me, you don't pay me I pay you. She got quiet then said if you decide to come back. I could not take it anymore and ended the call. I only get one chance to get cataract surgery right. I only have the set of eyes I was born with. Choosing the right shop to do quality work calls for blind trust small bumps along the way are ok. What I have gone through no one should ever experience from anyone hired to do a job. This is a busy place but they are efficient. I had a groupon for the lasik that was pre-paid so I didn't spend much time with the counselor because there wasn't anything for her to sell. She was very nice. I had the exam right after that. Not sure the groupon was that great of a deal because it was only $300 less than their "basic' package. I also didn't like that the sales counselor glossed over the fact that I had also "agreed" to return each year for my yearly regular eye exam. I prefer going to my own doctor far closer to my home. The wait times for each thing were reasonable, what I didn't like was seeing about 5 or 6 different people for each thing (each machine, etc). I'm used to one person for all of that then seeing the doctor. I didn't see the doctor up until the very end and she was there for all of 3 minutes. She also seemed rushed and talked over me. She wasn't the one that would be performing the Lasik. I had to come back for the dry eye ducts they insert prior to the surgery, I was told they would cost $100 each out of pocket. I paid and then got the insurance statement saying that the office had charged them $440 per eye. Insurance covered most of that (along with my $200 already paid) and I had to caugh up the difference (about $57). I wasn't told I'd have to pay anything over $100 per eye. $880 for something so tiny you can barely see it and took about 30 seconds to insert. Rediculous. In the end, we all have to pay higher premiums because of doctors that take advantage of this and then charge their clients the difference. read more

I just had two back-to-back miserable experiences with this place. I presented an eye problem with clear cut symptoms and was told my tests were normal so the problem must not exist. They punted me to my primary care physician. How is my PCP going to help me with vision problems? Zero compassion and less than zero accountability. Needing eye surgery for the removal of cataracts is one thing no one wants to face. The experience with Key-Whitman Eye Center made it simple. They provided excellent information and options to choose from to make the procedure go well. They gave me all good and bad that could happen so I was aware as things progressed with my cloudiness after surgery. Key-Whitman corrected this at the proper time and now my vision is perfect. i chose Toric lens and couldn't be happier. 20/20 and reading glasses only when needed for close work. Went to Whitman for years. Last experience I felt like I was in a factory. Just a number.

I have found that after 2 visits at Key-Whitman Eye Center in Plano that I will never go there again. Both visits were unpleasant, and I've ended up with a prescription for glasses that does not work for me. I feel they tried to push me into a laser surgery that was not necessary on my first visit. I researched the surgery after leaving and figured out that it is a somewhat controversial surgery and that people often experienced negative results afterwards. No thank you! I returned to see if they could do better with my glasses prescription, but the technician they assigned to do the refraction exam was unable to figure out how to prevent my seeing double when she set the machine toward the end. After an hour of back and forth efforts on her part, I left with no solution and the same unsatisfactory prescription. Now, I've used my insurance deductible and will have to pay full price elsewhere for a new exam with my previous doctor. The only reason I went to Key-Whitman was because my husband has been there and was OK with the place. read more

I had an incident a few weeks ago with a number of styes in my eye. I got in to see one of the doctors and he prescribed me some antibiotics. I went back the next week for a follow up(which they have no record of) because their computers crashed when I was in the patient room. I called twice, Thursday,May 19th,leaving 2 messages because another sty formed in the other eye and I was wanting a call back from their office. Never received a call. The # I called was 8172772658525.. On Friday, I called again. My phone call wasn't returned until 1:30. I would have to see a doctor to get another order of antibiotics and they had no records of my previous phone call. All in all ,what a terrible system they have in. I received no help from them and will be pursuing another clinic. read more

I love Key Whitman Plano. I have always had pleasant experiences and the staff is wonderful.

I had a regular eye checkup for prescription at the Key-Whitman Plano center recently. A technician (I think her name is Rose) spent about 20 minutes rotating through the phoropter and asked me to pick the right settings. During this time she also asked me 4 or 5 times if I had dry eyes, I told her I don't have. At the end of my appointment, Dr. Faisal Haq came in for a few minutes and said everything was fine. That was it. At the check out counter, I told them I had no vision plan. The response was my medical plan might cover it. In the end I was charged $223.11. When I called and complained about the price being too high for a prescription check up, I was told 1) I had dry eyes and this was treated as a medical checkup for the eye; and 2) this was the maximum amount allowed by my medical insurance. I had never once told the doctor or the technician or the clerk at the front desk that I had dry eyes. The checkup procedure and the questions they asked were all designed to maximize their profit. I had far better experience at several other eye checkup places, and in general I had paid between $70 to $150 for vision checkups. This place is the worst. The doctor left me with the impression that he was completely bored and had no interest in knowing anything about my eyes. Avoid this place at all cost. read more
