My youngest had the skirt steak, which he enjoyed. I had a piece and liked it. The only place where skirt steak is good, just not usually a fan. Wow. What a fantastic meal. Pine Tavern has a great bar area and a ton of seating throughout the rest of the restaurant. The food was absolutely fabulous. My friend and I tried the empanadas and clams for apps and both were delectable. The empanadas were stuffed and came with a great sauce to dip in. The clam were so flavorful, I was actually drinking the broth. We shared the Paella Valenciana and it was to die for. Tons of lobster, shrimp, clams and mussels. The rice was cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. With full stomached we still indulged in dessert - the biscoff tres leches and the berry cheesecake. Both made in house, the cheesecake was the winner for me. Super delicious and had a nice texture. The service left just a little something to be desired but the food absolutely made up for it. If you're a garlic fan I highly suggest you order the garlic mashed potatoes as one of your sides - legit cloves of roasted garlic on top! Haven't been here over 40 years. Had a reservation for 6 people for 6:30. We were seated right away in a comfortable location where you were able to hear each other talk. We started off with drinks and appetizers. Drinks were on the mark and the appetizers were delicious. Had fried calamari, sticky chicken wings and meatballs. All three sides were very tasty and more than enough for all 6 of us. Disappointed that they had no more guacamole . Our waitress was very attentive to all our needs. My girlfriend and I came here for some dinner on a Saturday evening. It was crowded, but we only had to wait like 10 minutes for a table. Once seated, we ordered the Boom Boom Shrimp as our appetizer. This was delicious. They gave you so much shrimp. And they were high quality shrimp as well. I absolutely loved the sauce they used for these shrimp. This was so good. A must order. After chatting for a bit, we then ordered our meals. We went with a tavern burger and a skirt streak meal. Once the meals came out, we were speechless. Everything looked so good. After trying a few bites of each, we loved our meal selections. The burger was cooked to a perfect medium. It was so juicy and flavorful. I didnt even need to add ketchup. One of the best burgers I ever had. The skirt steak was so tender and delicious as well. It was outstanding. This place is really busy, reservations are for 6 or more. Saturday night party of 4 the wait was about 1hr. Little longer than I thought but when our turn came we were able to find out why. Service was outstanding, our waiter was the best. Food was excellent. Appetizers were expertly prepared, so many choices. We all shared everything that hit the table and it was all delicious. The paella was perfect, plenty of ingredients and not to much rice. The wagu beef was very tender and delicious. The porterhouse pork chop was another good one. Would recommend any of these. I glanced over and saw a kid next to me with a bubbling bowl of golden, cheesy heaven. I leaned over like a nosy neighbor and asked my waiter, "What did THAT KID get?" Mac n cheese, he says. Well, I ordered it. Best decision of my entire adult life. When the waiter brought it out, it was like he was presenting the Holy Grail. Creamy, gooey, perfectly cheesy. Went there today for lunch with my better half. We shared the grilled octopus appetizer which we've had before. It comes to the table still sizzling in a cast iron pan. Sprinkling fresh lemon juice on it makes it sizzle more and the smoke carries the amazing smell throughout the near vicinity. Deliciously charred, tender and very flavorful. Not chewy at all. We ate here earlier this week, after not visiting in many years after a bad experience (pre-Covid). We thought we would try it again. The restaurant is inviting, clean, with decent sized tables. The hostess and our server were very nice, attentive and helpful. I ordered the pastrami sandwich and the meat was very good and very tender. My wife had the burrito and it was less than mediocre. We used to frequent The Pine Tavern back when I lived in Old Bridge. A group of us would go after town meetings (before the renovation and enlarged space). The bar area was more like a cozy pub atmosphere where locals could hang out. While the new design is more spacious, the acoustics are rough, it's very loud, always crowded and chaotic. However; we went on Easter Sunday and sat at the new and very open bar. It was so much, we had friendly people all around us. It was better than sitting in a booth or lonely table. Now onto the food and service: A plus! The menu & specials were extensive and tantalizing and had choices for many varied palates. Our bartender Chris was terrific, helpful and engaging. The food was served promptly; presented beautifully and appetizing. I had the pork chop with peppers, onions & nuchrooms. My friend had blackened scallops in a creamy Alfredo sauce. Both dishes were beyond delicious. Portions were ample, we took most of it home. There were still some offerings that were reasonably priced and we thoroughly enjoyed our time. My boyfriend and I have become regulars at Pine Tavern. Every time we go it is an exceptional experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious - each dish was bursting with flavor, and you could tell that only the freshest ingredients were used. We love the mussels, which are perfectly seasoned and presented in a white wine broth that is absolutely delicious. My boyfriend likes the wings which fall off the bone. The Caesar salad is crisp and the dressing is perfect. We absolutely love the mac & cheese, which is homemade for sure. It's a must every time we go. For the main course, the skirt steak was simply outstanding - tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection. Every bite was a delight, and the combination of flavors was both inventive and comforting. The dessert, a berry cheesecake was the perfect ending to the meal. On top of that, the service was attentive without being intrusive, and the ambiance made the entire dining experience feel special. The waiter gave me a well done steak with no sides (which is supposed to come with the order) and the Mac and cheese. He said that the Mac and cheese is the side when I specifically asked for the steak and a small side of Mac and cheese. I thought that was poor. The food is great at good prices. I met people I went to high school over 50 years ago there for lunch this past Saturday. There are no reservations, so we were put on a waiting list. The food came and we started eating. About ten minutes later, I wanted to order soda but our server was not around. She didn't come over to see if everything was okay or if we needed anything else. Another server came by who I ordered my soda from. When the bill arrived, the server brought only 2 checks not 3. She said they were already printed. I specifically said 3 separate checks. This is the third and last time we go to Pine Tavern. If I could give them 0 or -5 stars I would. I ordered the cowboy skirt steak sandwich. There was minimal meat and what meat there was looked like kibble dog food. It was tough, tasteless and old. The bread was horrible as well. I would have been better off with a McDonalds Big Mac, at least going in I would know it would be "poop" food. In this way I was disappointed in "poop" from Pine Tavern. That sandwich and the extra $2.0 for fries was a total embarrassment. Needless to say I did not eat the entire mess. Diner microwaved food would have been better. read more
