From the friendly greeting at the door, through the comfortable setting and efficient 'check-out', the environment is professional and friendly. I've been a patient about 3 years with no major problems, but did have a tooth removed, and a deep cleaning procedure. Both assistants/hygenists (not sure which term they prefer) were excellent technicians, thorough communicators about what to expect and then what was happening, and very personable. The general cleanings and the staff who did them were very good as well. Dr. Martin has a low key communication style, but I trust his dental knowledge and value his opinions (whether I take them or not!). I have been going to Keystone dental for 4+ years and I love visiting them every time! They take excellent care of my dental and jaw health, including state-of-the-art cleaning methods, preventative measures to tackle issues before they become problems, and consistent attention to detail. My teeth and gums feel healthier than ever, and their cleaning techniques never cause me pain. They have this cleaning method that uses water with a erithrytol powder to remove plaque without excessive "pricking" that I have experienced at other dentists. It's amazing! I have been Dr. Martin's patient since he started his practice. He is everything you want in a dentist. His has the latest technology and stays on top of recent developments. His values, knowledge, and skills are incredible, and he has passed them onto his entire staff. Technology is a big part of the practice ranging from imaging to in house fabrication of crown and implants. Dr.Martin uses it in a way to make all aspects of the experience better, and to avoid unnecessary repeat visits or referrals. I just came in for the first time since Covid hit. Dawn, the practice manager got me in right away. She is a miracle worker and one of the nicest people you will meet. One of the hygienists, Haley, did an assessment and to develop a treatment plan. This was the first time I had met her, and right away I could tell she was as knowledgeable and compassionate as expected. Laura, my long time hygienist is a gem. Her careful and skilled care is what really made me comfortable going to the dentist. (I say that having just returned from a deep cleaning by her.) They do a very good intake survey at your first appointment and they really care about your overall health. Every time I walk into Keystone Dental, I am greeted in a friendly way and treated like an honored guest. Yesterday, Dr Martin assessed some pain I was having during flossing and determined it wasn't anything that required more dental work. He's not looking to push more work. He just wants to make the correct decisions for my health. My issue turned out to be additional sensitivity due to an implant at the nearby tooth and gum recession due to age. He gave me useful advice for how to mitigate the issue, which is exactly what I needed. I've had many dentists over the years, and Dr Martin is the best. read more

I was with my previous dentist for about 20 years, and nothing but complaints about my bushing, night clinching my teeth etc, because my pockets were rated as 5's and above. This was even with my brushing and flossing twice a day and wearing a night guard. My treatments were every 4 months with a hygienist scrubbing on my teeth for hours, and went so far as an oral surgery with cutting one gum line and suturing it back together - and still pockets rated as 5's. My daughter told me to go to Dr. Martin for real help. And help they did. First they did a review of the chemistry of my mouth and then have me use a waterpik with bleach in it and a special toothpaste. It completely change my mouth - much cleaner and the deep pockets went away in a half a year. They are all about tech and the whole office is there to promote your care. They can make a crown while you wait, all in one sitting (no more waiting a week with that darn temp crown in there). All tech and it is great. Thank you Keystone Dental and staff. read more

Let's see. I'm deathly afraid of the dentist chair for a variety of reasons that go back to childhood. I have been extremely lucky with Keystone Dental. Having been coming here since 1998 in the Dr Hackett days. Today, Dr Martin and staff are nothing short of amazing. They are consistently professional and highly knowledgeable about all things dental related. Also, everyone seems very happy to be working in the office. I attribute that to Dr Martin's awesome leadership and management style. I switched jobs back 6 years ago and my current insurance is not as favorable as my last plan resulting in a substantial cost every time I see Dr Martin (no fault of Keystone). Dr. Martin approaches his work holistically and sees the patient as more than just a set of teeth- at my first appointment I was asked about diet, lifestyle, goals for care, and my personal history with dentistry. Keystone stopped taking Delta Dental without notifying me. They claim they sent a letter but I read mail, and nope. They also neglected to mention the change when I booked two appointments for my kids. Consequently I owe $500 more than expected. Be wary about this and make sure you check with them each time you book. I solved further issues by transferring my family of 5 to another dentist. read more

Keystone dental office did not meet my dental health needs and I cannot advise others to go to this office with the way they conduct their business. I spoke with Dawn, their office manager when paying a bill and I told her that my co-pay was significantly higher than what I typically pay and asked if they had billed my insurance. Dawn who was taking the payment assured me that my insurance had already been billed. Shortly after, I made an emergency appointment as an Endodontist told me I had a concerning crack in my tooth. I went and saw Dr. Michael Martin (who hadn't review the images that the endodontist sent over) and he said definitively that there was no crack in my tooth. I then went back into their office a few weeks later for a routine cleaning and one of the first things the hygienist told me was that she noticed a large crack in my tooth. I was also informed at the end of this visit that Keystone was no longer contracted with my insurance, so my last three visits were billed as self-pay. The fact that I'm being charged ~$200 for an office visit for my dentist to tell me that I don't have a crack in my tooth- when In actuality I did is sub-bar treatment at best. I was also mislead when I got assurance from Dawn that my insurance would be billed for these visits. I was only informed AFTER three office visits that my insurance was no longer accepted and am now stuck with a large bill than I am unable to pay at this moment. This office felt like a business not a facility that provides care or attention to the needs of their patients. I visited Keystone Dental as a new patient and having been to many dentists between Seattle and Los Angeles, the way that Dr. Martin and his team approach dental care is the most kind, innovative and inclusive. As a new patient, Dr. Martin took almost 10 mins to welcome me to the practice and listen to my story, as well as explain his process for dental care. This was the first time I've ever had a dental experience that considered whole body health through the lens of dentistry. Amazing! Everyone at Keystone Dental is kind, funny, smart, and makes every visit wonderful. I started going a couple months ago (after not going to a dentist for an embarrassing long time) and have seen a huge improvement in my gums/teeth already. Dr. Martin was thoughtful in recommending I get more sleep and providing some insightful facts, which shows he takes care of his patients. This week I spent 2-3 days in pain due to my wisdom teeth + overlapping gum. My other place, I scheduled to get my wisdom tooth removed, were busy and couldn't get me in until 2-3 weeks out. I have a crazy work schedule and worried I would have to go to an event with this pain. A call to Dawn (who is sweet and always warm when you walk in) and she got me in 2 hours!! They were able to remove my wisdom teeth right away. I'm pretty sure it overlapped with their lunch time, so I am super grateful they helped me! I slept like a baby and the pain is gone. I absolutely hate the dentist. However, Keystone dental makes it bearable. The hygienist I get always takes the time to answer my questions and is patient with my curiosities. Dawn, the receptionist, is always super pleasant even though I double torture myself with early morning appointments. They listen to my preferences (I prefer text to calls, so they text!), are flexible when needed, and generally very eager to please. They also take a holistic approach to health, which is unique. Though I don't always agree with their assessments, they take time to explain their rationale and really try to do the right thing. I highly recommend them if you're looking for a great dentist. read more

I learned to fear the dentist early on. Let's face it: drills are scary. Being scolded by someone weilding a drill is even worse. How Dr. Hackett managed to undo all my deeply ingrained fears and issues with the dentist, to actually make me ENJOY getting my teeth cleaned is still kind of a mystery. But she did it. And I love going there. She's gentle, she's understanding, she never scolds. Her entire staff, from receptionist to dental hygenist, is talkative and friendly. And Dr. Hackett is incredibly sensitive to people's financial situations ("This cap will hold for a few more years, and by then your insurance will cover a replacement"). Quit being afraid. Dr. Hackett is without question the best dentist I have ever seen (and I've seen a total of five). I have been a patient of Dr. Hackett's for about 8 months (so I've seen her twice for regular cleanings). Dr. Hackett is extremely sweet and also very thorough. For my first appointment, a routine cleaning and checkup, she performed the teeth cleaning herself. I had never before in my life known a dentist to perform a whole cleaning -- I thought they always had their hygienists do cleanings. I'm not sure that she does this all the time, but Dr. Hackett said that since I was a new patient, it gave her a good opportunity to get familiar with my dentition. I was impressed. Dr. Hackett seems to genuinely care about the oral health of her patients. She gives good and realistic advice, and backs up her advice with good reasoning and examples (e.g., don't brush your teeth immediately after eating acidic foods like strawberries, because brushing right after eating acidic foods can scrape away surface enamel). For my second cleaning (a few weeks ago), I was seen primarily by the hygienist, who was gentle and thorough, and then Dr. Hackett performed the checkup at the end (as is standard). She remembered me and my mouth, and even followed-up on sensitivity on one tooth that I had mentioned to her six months prior. I cannot recommend Dr. Hackett highly enough. Although I have only had the need to see Dr. Hackett for teeth cleanings and regular checkups, I have no reason to believe that any of her services would be anything less than stellar. read more

I was a big fan of Dr. Hackett's and I'm pleased to say that Dr. Martin has a very similar style. After two or three cleaning appointments, they suggested that I have four fillings replaced. Since the fillings were more than 30 years old, that seemed quite reasonable. Because of Dr. Martin's work at the University of Washington, he knows a great deal about the latest techniques, and I was amazed at how quick and painless the filling replacements were. The new "paint on" fillings are so much better than the old stuff that used to get jammed into your tooth! So, three cheers for Dr. Martin and his staff. read more

It took me a really long time to find a dentist that I felt comfortable with, so I appreciate so much about my experience from the start. They are always clear about my costs and answer my questions clearly. I never feel like I cannot get information or alternative. They definitely take a preventative care model, which I really appreciate. As they have made recommendations about what I should do, they were clear about procedures that were urgent, important, and optional. The bedside manor is off the charts great! I have a very extensive dental history, involving years of painful procedures and multiple surgeries. For those reasons, I've continued to see the same dentist 45 miles away that I have seen since my first tooth (30+ years ago), rather than finding someone new, despite having moved to Seattle years ago. I finally made the leap and went with Keystone Dental, and I am thoroughly impressed! Danielle gave me the most comprehensive, gentle and respectful exam and cleaning I have ever had.
