We arrived 30 minutes early for the appointment and they were able to accommodate us quickly. New clients will need to sign new patient paperwork, but the form was simple to complete. Patrons here are extremely friendly, but the general community doesn't seem to wear masks, which is Just something to be mindful of. Some of the staff also do not wear masks in the waiting room. The staff are welcoming and bright. Jess did the intake and she was sweet and patient with my dog. She was very efficient with the intake process. Our appointment was with Dr. M and WOW, SHE IS FANTASTIC. She answered all our questions and made us feel confident in the caliber of care we were receiving. The checkout process was seamless and they even email an itemized receipt of charges promptly after your appointment. There are no hidden fees and they are honest from the start. This place is a great choice for your pet's care. Give them a shot!

I would not give this vet one star. My regular vet was out sick yesterday so I called Dr. Flake's…read moreoffice and they scheduled me immediately. Everyone was very nice and listened to everything I had to say regarding my dog's symptoms. Dr. Flake examined my dog including a rectal exam. She cleaned his anal glands and declared everything else seems fine but to make sure there was nothing going on we should do a blood draw. As I was concerned for my pet who had suddenly taken ill the day before I agreed. I was told I would receive a call plus an email with blood results to me and to my regular vet but the blood would take about two hours. Despite several calls I received nothing but the blood results - showing nothing wrong - after the office was closed for the day. I called this morning again leaving a message my dog was still no better and again I did not get a return call. Noontime when it was obvious he was having more difficulty I finally was able to reach my regular vet. Upon a rectal exam his comment was he could feel something in the gut and suspected a blockage. (The same exam Dr Flake did when she cleaned the anal glands.). A simple quick x-ray confirmed a blockage. From the moment I walked out of Flake's office I never received any communication except for the e-mailed blood result. My firm belief is it was far more profitable ($464.54) to do blood than take a quick and inexpensive x-ray. Her lack of communication with me, despite calls, only confirms my feeling. Shame on her. My dog suffered longer because of her poor care and she was most unconcerned plus I'm out a large chunk of money while I am on a fixed income. I do not mind paying for services rendered but I do resent feeling as if I were taken or a ride.

I took my dog here on advice of my regular vet due to her harsh breathing and coughing. The first…read moreplace suggested was Shores in Harrisburg, but they had a 6-8 hour wait! Mason Dixon was next on the list. They took my dog right away and the wait was not too awfully long once we were in the room. It was discovered via X-ray and blood work that my dog has congestive heart failure (caused from the inadequacies of a previous vet). Although they were thorough in their tests and findings, their suggestions are the reason I am not rating them well. They provided me two options - one being leave my dog for a few days so they could put her on oxygen and medicate her at the cost of 5k. The other option was to put her down right then and there. As I live approximately one hour away and did not want to just put her down without my family I told them I was taking her home. I felt as if they were trying to make me feel guilty for wanting to take my pet home. They stated that taking her home would be hard on her and that if she passed at home, it would be traumatic for the animal. They stated that she would probably not make it through the night. I stuck to my guns and said I was taking MY animal home. I am so happy I did! The following day she was seen by my regular vet, who stated that although the dog does have CHF, she would have never suggested putting her down the night before. She said there are medications to try and that my dog is not as bad as she could be. She reviewed all the materials send from Mason Dixon, and felt that there could have been some other options presented. I am so happy that I listened to my gut and took my girl home with me. Don't let someone talk you into something you don't feel is right in your heart. My girl now has a second chance at being around a little longer because of the due diligence of our wonderful vet at home!

I pulled into the parking lot with a dog suffering heat stroke and one of the vet techs/nurses happened to be returning the trash bin at the same time. She took my 75 pound bulldog right out of my hands and rushed him to the back. The Drs, nurses, and techs were able to safely bring his body temperature down from 109 to 103 within an hour. They were very compassionate and explained the treatment options and likelihood of survival extremely well. After a 2 day stay and another 5 days at home in bubblewrap, our boy's bloodwork has come back clean and he is nearly his old self again. Thank you to everyone!

I was blown away by the efficiency, care, and attention to detail. Great for non-life-threatening, but still time sensitive visits. In the past, we've only had to access to emergency vets. This urgent care for pets is so helpful and greatly reduced our wait time from many hours + overnight monitoring to less than an hour with great care and all of our questions answered. They sent us with clear discharge instructions on how to follow up with our primary vet. well, we hope we aren't back frequently, we look forward to using them for future visits.

Ironically, we were then directed to park in an area marked "Authorized Parking Only," which made the situation even more confusing. Better signs or parking instructions would have prevented the entire misunderstanding. Once the veterinary technician came to our car, her attitude was noticeably more pleasant, and that interaction was much better. However, the initial experience left a poor first impression. I hope the clinic considers improving its signage and the way staff communicate with arriving clients, as it would make for a much more welcoming experience.

We do feline rescue work, so we need an exceptionally good veterinarian who has affordable prices, is open long hours, and employs an outstanding support staff. After engaging the services of several unacceptable veterinarians in the local Maryland area, we tried the Gettysburg Animal Hospital. The Gettysburg Animal Hospital is owned by Dr. John Dodson, and he practices at it too along with five other highly skilled and talented veterinarians. Dr. Dodson has a wealth of experience and knowledge in treating both cats and dogs. We find him to be a kind man who truly cares about his clients and their pets. He often goes above and beyond treating our cats by explaining to us in great detail their medical ailments and how the prescribed therapy will help them. His practice is run efficiently, and he charges reasonable prices to his clients while offering top notch medical care. We've had the pleasure of Dr. Dodson and several of his veterinarians caring for our rescues these past three years. Based on our lifetime experiences with many veterinarians in several states, we find the Gettysburg Animal Hospital to be the best yet. I called Yellow Springs last Friday morning after being in the ER the night before, Dr K called me back promptly and advised me to come in ASAP. Daisy was there all day, catheterized, given IV fluids and blood work, and diagnosed with pancreatitis. The entire staff stayed late, helped carry my 75 pound dog to my car, and Dr K called the vet at the hospital, sent records and helped navigate my dogs admission. They didn't do all of this for free, but they were efficient, compassionate and quick to help in my time of vet emergency. My sweet girl Daisy is now at home and doing great. Thank you to the entire staff for your help.
