It's been a long while since I stopped into KFC. While running errands and hunger arose, I decided why not? Loved KFC as a kid, especially their original recipe. This time decided to try their other offerings: Mango Habanero Fried Chicken Sandwich, and Chipotle nuggets. Was pleasantly surprised as I actually like the sammie better than the Chick Fil-A, Burger King, and Popeye's versions. Nuggets were solid too. Download their app for coupon specials. I got the chicken sammie for about half the regular cost due to an online special. Service at this location was quick and easy to pickup my online order. Located near the intersection of Park St and Encinal Ave in Alameda

Stopped by on Sunday, 12/31/23 to by some chicken for dinner. It was my last day here before driving back to SoCal. Ordered the following to-go: - 1, 12-piece Chicken = $29.99 TAX = $3.22 TOTAL = $33.21 The chicken here is definitely more expensive than SoCal. I usually go to the one in Pomona, CA and there's a special for the 12-piece chicken for only $20. Chicken was very tasty. Parking can also be tricky and we parked on the streets.

Well, it's been about 3 years, so I guess I will update my review of Alameda's only KFC restaurant. I had a craving for fried chicken, and it was still early enough to hit the KFC drive-thru. I ordered the 4-pc meal combo for about $15, and selected "extra crispy." You can't really mess up the sides because there's no choice. The 4-pc meal comes with a biscuit, mash & gravy, and a soda. The biscuit and mashed potatoes were so-so. But the fried chicken was fresh and juicy. The breast was as big as my hand. I also had 2 drums and a wing section. FYI: The wing section w/ little drumstick is considered white meat. My soda didn't have enough ice, and the drink wasn't cold. The problem with my KFC experience on April 28, had to do with how they operate their drive-thru. The Alameda KFC has a small parking lot and narrow drive-thru. What they did was....they park cars after you pay. Usually, you order, pay, and then get your order. At KFC, you order, pay, and then wait in the parking lot. I had to park in a delivery driver space, up against a blue handicap zone. The parking lot is too small, hard to maneuver in, and only has one driveway (in and out). Geez, the reason why I used the drive-thru was to avoid parking in your lot! Next time, I'm parking in the street and then wait outside the door for my order.

    Coupon they did not accept

The cashier did not know how to use the POS system to choose drumsticks only so they said the coupon which expires on September 30th 2024 was already expired on September 29th. They were extremely rude and disrespectful. I recommend going to KFC in Oakland instead, they are nice and understanding.

Tuesday app or online deal - 8 piece bucket (4 drumsticks & 4 thighs) for $10

I saw that KFC had a Tuesday special online or app deal for an 8 piece bucket (4 drumsticks & 4 thighs) for just $10. Crazy to see that the menu price was over $24. I was able to order online for pickup and within 10 minutes of arriving, my order was ready. The chicken was warm and good but it was a little dry and maybe lacked some flavor. I chose the original recipe and it tasted like regular fried chicken that I get at Safeway. I'm just glad the chicken was fully cooked. The last time I had KFC, there were some chicken pieces that weren't cooked properly and the inside were raw. This is a small location with only a couple of tables inside. It seems like most people just take their food to go. I was surprised to see that there was a drive thru. They have a parking lot but parking is extremely limited.

    DONUT - $1 - hot n fresh!!!

WHEN: Monday @5:30pm I came by Saturday night only to learn they close an hour early because of COVID-19: 9pm, not 10pm. I hope they update this on Yelp. So I came back Monday on a whim because I really wanted to try their french fries: SECRET RECIPE FRIES - $4.99 (Large) This was SO good. It's like their Potato Wedges, but less starchy, and the flavors are so much better. It tasted like it was "Fried Chicken" flavored! It was so fresh, hot, and crispy! There's a lot in this container. Seeing that they've been serving donuts as the buns to their fried chicken sandwiches, I decided I wanted to just try their donuts as well: DONUT - $1 This was made fresh! It was so warm, and had a lot of icing on it. I was so happy and impressed. After ordering, I was told that I will have to wait 4 minutes for my order to be ready. This was music to my ears because that meant my food is made to order. YES!!! Pulling up to the payment window, I appreciated that the staff had both their masks and gloves on, and they were playing some good jams inside. After payment, they nicely asked that I wait in the parking spot marked "Curbside Pickup". I didn't wait too long until my food came out...all very hot! By the time I got home, my Secret Recipe Fries and Donut were hot, and yes, that was my dinner. Dinner for both my partner and I actually. It's okay it was Monday. Dare I say it, but I may have just found my new favorite donut shop (c'mon they serve donuts at night!).

Large Popcorn chicken and a fried ($11) not worth it, very small size

Here's where you can do that, at great value imo for $44 pp. I come in every other month or so for that AYCE $44 dinner and really enjoy the Bulgogi and the LA beef style short rib, which you cook yourself. Additionally, they have a wide variety of sides you can order as well. My favorite is the kimchi soup, which is DELICIOUS, as well as their house boneless fried chicken. Alyssa just put me on the radish wraps, so I like to go back-and-forth between those and the lettuce wraps with the meat. Don't sleep on the cheese corn either! With all the sides, I really do $44 is a good deal. You order at a little kiosk at your table, but there's also servers who can help you, so it's nice to have both option options. It can get pretty busy here on weekends but on weekdays it's really chill so I usually come on weekdays. Honestly I'm in bed rotting with no food or water in my system and this sounds soooo good. The staff was cordial and friendly, and the chicken-themed decor, charming. Now it IS a chicken joint, the go-to chicken spot for my full carnivore friend. He loves them for their chicken, their inexpensive menu and their large portions. I'm mostly pescatarian, though I do sometimes cheat with bacon. (I always feel SO guilty afterwards too!) I ordered the honey mustard salad with bacon and no chicken. My friend ordered the chicken Mac n cheese and tater tots. The bill came up to $30, and the portions were good on on the salad, GREAT on the tater tots and decent on the chicken mac. I can't speak personally on the chicken but my friend says it's amazing. I tasted some of his Mac n cheese with no chicken, and it was really good and flavorful, nice and cheesy. I tasted his tater tots. They were plentiful, well-seasoned and fried to golden perfection, with a nice crunch. I ate all of my salad. My friend couldn't finish his chicken Mac or his tater tots and was happy to be able to take them to go for another meal. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place.

About 10 minutes later the server brought what looked like our food to the only other table at the restaurant. The pair sitting there brought it back to the server as it wasn't what they ordered. Our server apologetically just handed us the food that another pair had inspected and returned (they said they didn't touch it). No napkins, fries, or ketchup for the fries. I went to the counter and asked for napkins and fries and politely asked about our fries. They apologized and said it would come right out. My sandwich bread turned out to be fairly burned, and it tasted burned. Towards the end of finishing our sandwiches (about 20 minutes after I ordered and 10 minutes after I asked about the fries), I asked if my fries could be to-go. The friendly server was again apologetic and said they would check on it. A minute later they came out with a box of fries and apologized they they had been forgotten about in the kitchen. They were no longer hot. I was disappointed with my most recent trip.

Between our group, we got Sakoo, Nam Khao, Fried Clear Rice Roll Wraps, Sai Oua (Lao Sausages), Crispy Pork Belly, Pad Kee Mao, and a large side of Sticky Rice. Of the dishes, the Nam Khao was a standout favorite for me. I loved how crispy and crunchy the fried rice was in the dish. There were so many layers of flavors and textures from the fish sauce, the peanuts, and the fermented sour pork. If there's one dish you must order when you stop by here, it's this one. Another dish I really enjoyed was the Sai Oua; I get this dish whenever I see it at restaurants. Although I've had Lao sausages which were very heavy in lemongrass flavor, the ones here did not have the same flavor profile. Instead, the ones here leaned more towards the spicy side. The crispy pork belly was another standout dish for me. If you enjoy Filipino lechon or Cantonese siu yuk, this is another must-order dish. The pork is well seasoned and has the perfect ratio of lean to fatty parts. Overall, I had wonderfully delicious meal. I would certainly recommend coming as a large group so you're able to order a wide variety of dishes. If you're looking for something to really excite your taste buds, head over to Bhan Mae Vane.

I watched a waitress bring out fries to a guest, the guest started eating them, and then she came back to say it was a mistake and took them away after he was already halfway through. That just didn't feel very service-oriented. In a situation like that, it would have been better to acknowledge the mistake and let the guest keep the fries on the house.
