Since I moved away, in n out has a choice to include when I visit CA. It is still the same. I was trying to Order light medium fries, I got light fries. It was not bad but I would prefer cooked potato and crispy fried. Burger is the still the same but the price is higher. $7 for burger and fries, that is a cheap lunch. I do like the pickle chilies and grilled onions. The line was not too bad. The drive thru line is long. Service was good. We flew in late to the Oakland Airport and were staying at a hotel in Alameda. It's 10:30pm what could possibly be open - In-n-Out! Always dependable and delicious wherever you go. We ordered two Cheeseburgers with grilled onions. ($4.40 ea) How are these still so cheap? Chocolate shake for my husband and Vanilla shake for me. ($3.10 ea) No fries because we don't like In-n-Out fries. The only way I can eat them is animal style and that seemed a little much this late at night. When we used to live in Fullerton we would drive thru the In-n-out for burgers and then McDonald's across the street for fries. Best of both worlds. These burgers and shakes really hit the spot. This California institution has so much hype around it, especially when compared to giants like Shake Shack. I tried it a decade ago and fell in love so this was on my "must" list for the Bay Area when I returned this time. Also of note, people say you have to order the "correct way" in order to get the best, which is a bit annoying since if you don't know, you can't know. I was correct in getting an animal style cheeseburger, but was told I needed to do extra everything, chopped chilis, and chopped banana peppers (if that's my fancy). Even without these extras, the burger was unarguably, good, and more affordable than Shake Shack. For the price of my entire meal (shake, fries, burger), I would have just barely been able to pay for one single Shake Shack burger, so for value alone, In N Out is better. However, the fries were utter trash and not fried thoroughly enough, and getting them animal style was a huge mistake. I was told you should get them "well done", which doesn't make sense to me - why not just do fries correctly the first time? As for the shake, I got the Neapolitan (strawberry, chocolate, vanilla mix) which was suggested, but couldn't really distinguish any of the flavours, so I didn't feel like it was worth the calories. All in all, I'm come again, but only for the burger and to try the fries well done. I think It'd still pay premium to have Shake Shack, though, if I'm being honest. read more

Went here around 12am Thursday night, basically Friday. We ordered two burgers, a drink, and an order of animal fries. Food is good, but the problem was that I found a long hair in my animal fries. Couple mins later my boyfriend found another long hair in his freaking burger. Honestly, the food is what you're expect, consistent and solid for the price. The only gripe I have with this In-N-Out comparative to others is for some reason it felt unclean. It could have just been this particular day since it seemed like the staff was short staffed but since it was a Mon and there wasn't a line out into the main street and not that many people dining inside it felt off that there were no napkins, the condiments were out, and almost all the tables/seats had some dried sauce on it I definitely believe there should have been some level of cleanliness but since I'm not going to In-N-Out often especially on a Mon night it could have just been this particular day since every time I pass by this location there's a crowd inside and insane line outside so could be an outlier of an experience read more

Like most In and Out locations, this spot is almost always packed, especially during peak hours. The drive-thru line can get crazy long, and the parking lot is small and tough to navigate when traffic spills out. So be prepared for a wait or plan ahead. That said, the food is as good as ever, consistently fresh and delicious. The employees are always friendly. My go-to order is a double double with both grilled and whole onions, extra lettuce and tomato, and well-done fries. The fries are my favorite part. They're cut fresh from real potatoes right in front of you, and you can really taste the difference. Nothing frozen here. In and Out has a famously simple menu, but they've mastered what they do. There's also a "secret menu" you can look up online for extra customization. Their shakes are great too, thick, creamy, and made with real ice cream. I usually go for a strawberry-vanilla combo. Inflation is everywhere now and In and Out is not an exception unfortunately. At $6.25 for a double double and $2.45 for fries, it's still a good deal though. 4.5 rounding down to 4 As Canadians who have never been to California before, we had to take the opportunity to have a meal here when we noticed it en route to the USS Hornet. It was a bit of a traffic nightmare trying to access this plaza, and the INSANE drive-thru queue just added to access and parking snafus. Idk how long the last person in the drive-thru line waits to get this food, but we were not interested in finding out via that route, although it certainly added to piquing our curiosity that much higher. Not to mention, as an actual tourist destination for us, it was worth going inside. When we did, we decided to make our order to go since the dining room was busy and noisy. It was very clean and fresh looking, and I was pleased to see both registers open and loads of staff working busily as I was concerned that even if we didn't wait long in line inside, the insanely heavy drive-thru orders would impact our food delivery time. Happily, that proved to be no problem. Our cashier, Brian, was super friendly, helpful, and on the ball. The menu is deceptively simple given that their fame and appeal are based on their "secret" menu animal fries. This is even more complicated considering that you can get your animal fries well done. We went with single burgers, animal fries, 2 milkshakes and a soda drink between the 3 of us. I was excited to see their soda selection includes cherry Coke and raspberry lemonade. Unfortunately, both cherry Coke dispensers might as well have been waste dishwasher water and I had to report the problem to have it replenished. On the other hand, it was beyond impressive how quickly it was corrected. If only McFlurry machines were serviced so well... We concluded that even if it looked similar to Five Guys in terms of aesthetic, it was very close to the Big Mac when it came to the taste of the burgers. The fries are their own, with or without the animal style treatment. They look close to McDonald's at first, but they have some skin on them, and the texture is not quite that soft and fluffy. Of course, they need to be able to hold up under that cheese and dressing. I wish we could have eaten them in the restaurant, because by the time we finally got back to our hotel in Burlingame, they were sadly cold and suffered being shortchanged of their full flavour. Luckily, Brian included several extra packets of the sauce for us so, even if we didn't get the benefit of a hot and freshly prepared order of the fries, we can appreciate this signature dish in some form in future. The milkshakes were... milkshakes, nothing to write home about. Having said that, it was absolutely worth making a special stop to try it. I love almost everything about this in-n-out. Good food, nice staff, and relatively short wait times considering how long the lines are. They are a very well-oiled machine. However, the one order they always get wrong for our family is a 4-patty hamburger with just spread. Most of the time they put cheese on it or give us just the patties and spread without the bun. I have worded this order as clearly and detailed as possible and they almost never get it right. In-N-Out has the reputation of having the healthiest burgers, so diners should feel good eating here. My order was: - Double-Double w/ onions, $6.05 - Fries, $2.40 - Reg Chocolate Shake, $ 3.05 ( Total +tax= $12.74) First off, there was a wait in drive-thru because it took forever to serve the car ahead of me. The problem with this location is the parking lot and drive-thru are too small. Then when I got to the window, my order wasn't ready. All this time, and they didn't have my order staged and ready to go. Service: 4/5. The Double-Double Burger was good, but not great. The grill cook over seasoned the meat, and it was a little salty. This In-N-Out used to be good. Ever since the Oakland In-N-Out location closed down, the additional traffic to this location has caused a significant drop in quality of food and a huge increase in wait times. During the dinner rush, you can expect to wait around one hour for your order to be ready (if you order inside). The drive-through line spills onto the streets out of the parking lot, so there are long lines of cars at the traffic light shortly after existing the tunnel. Don't even try to park in the parking lot because there is guaranteed to be no spots. This evening, I ordered a hamburger with extra tomato, extra lettuce and extra grilled onions. However, when I received my burger, it had the skimpiest amount of toppings. On top of this, the patty was overcooked and dry -- something I've never experienced before at any In-N-Out location. The order of fries I got were soggier than usual, despite ordering them well-done. Tables here were filthy. Most locations have a staff member constantly walking around the dining room to clear and clean tables but they did not have one here. The condiment station was also an absolute mess: ketchup dispenser was out, no pepper packets were available, one of the napkin dispensers was empty, while the other one was jammed. When I asked for two forks for my animal-styles fries at the main counter, they could only provide one because they had ran out. This is a disgrace for an In-N-Out location and I do not plan to stop by again. Definitely going to the Pinole location from now on. read more

I don't know if it's the staff, the ingredients, or maybe the environment, but what used to be a great midnight meal has turned into me consistently rushing to the toilet on four consecutive occasions. This was over the course of a handful of months dating back to August but nevertheless, I don't feel confident I can return to this location again. It's also possible I'm just not able to stomach In-an-Out anymore altogether. If that's the case, this isn't directed at this location but it would be to the food/company altogether. Nevertheless, I loved this place until I couldn't any longer. I hope nobody else gets issues or has had issues like I've had at this location, or the franchise in general. read more
