2671 Blanding Ave Ste C Alameda, CA 94501 (Bridgeside Shopping Center) Well, almost 3 yrs ago I gave this place 5-stars. Since then, I have visited several sandwich shops. I still like The Cheese Steak Shop over Jersey Mike's. On a rainy Friday evening, I ordered the Classic Philly. The man behind the counter asked "With peppers?" I said YES! Make it like that picture! Well, times have changed. My large Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich cost slightly over $13. It's alot smaller and lighter. But still packs a punch in flavor! It's not that heavy sandwich anymore. But you still beat the competition! You will find this sandwich shop in the shopping center that's next to the Fruitvale Bridge in Alameda.

Food here is good. Service is OK ambience depending on the sport that it's playing for the day.

Im surprised this place has negative reviews. Ive been coming here for years, and while the price has gone up significantly (almost $20 for a combo now) the quality is superb. The bread is unlike anywhere else, and everything is cooked to perfection. Dont forget to get it with peppers and everything.

    A crappy overpriced cheesesteak!!!

So I just ordered a king of philly and a regular onion rings. $20!!! And i got water So if i wanted a drink it would be about $23-$24 And they ask for a tip on the computer screen So if i tip the "American Way" 20% that's another $2.50 So my lunch is $26-$27 Are you kidding me!!! Seriously Are you really asking for a tip for the guy running the register or the cook? Normally tips are for "service" I didn't get served I had to get my own water and meal when it was ready A tip jar is fine Don't ask on the register for tips!!! Ridiculous!

It's March 15th, 2020. I know I'm supposed to avoid human contact to stop the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) but the last two days, I really am avoiding human contact because NO ONE was in the restaurant yesterday and no one was in the The Cheesesteak Shop today. Except the nice young ladies making my King of Philly cheesesteak of course. That being said, my sandwiches were ready as soon as I walked through the door after ordering prior to arriving. How was the King of Philly cheesesteak? It was great. I really have no complaints about this sandwich. It has a nice amount of cheese melted in steak. I ordered it with onions and hot peppers. If I have one complaint, it's that they leave the stem on all the peppers they use, so it has to be plucked out of the sandwich. The location in Blanding Shopping hub is convenient, because there is always parking, especially during this pandemic crisis. Nothing to ease my anxiety like a Philly cheesesteak.

Best cheesesteak I ever had !

This is a to go review I placed the order on Tuesday afternoon and it was ready within 10 minutes. When I got there, there wasn't a line and I was helped and got my order immediately. The pick up process was fast and efficient. I got home and opened my chicken hoagie and it was very soggy. There were juices on the bag itself too. I had to rip open the bag to place the sandwich on top to contain the sauce that was leaking out. The curly fries were okay as it was still slightly crispy. This should be eaten at the restaurant and not ordered to go to ensure the sandwich doesn't get soggy. The sandwich was decent though. I probably would not order in advance or do a pick up though.

Date: 7/31/2018 Time: 2:00 PM 67° Partly sunny Since I could not get lunch from Poki Lab and I wasn't feeling Starbucks, I decided to give The Cheese Steak Shop a try for the first time. I am aware that this is one of those chain fast food places with locations in Berkeley, Oakland and other cities in the Bay Area. One of the employees was kind to hand me a menu, so I could decide what type of sandwich I wanted to order. After perusing the menu, I ordered Motown Philly, a cheese steak with beef, cheese, mushrooms and grilled onion, and a side order of curly fries. Specialties: Cheese steaks sandwiches, vegetarian sandwiches, salads, choice of sides (steak fries, Philly cheese fries, curly fries, cheese steak chips, sweet potato fries, onion rings, chicken strips) and cold beverages. They also have a kids' menu available for ages 12 and under. Seating capacity: about 20 people. Ambiance: casual and comfortable. I like the sports banners on the wall (Warriors, Raiders, A's). I had to chuckle when the older woman/cashier greeted me and said "I haven't seen you for a while." I replied that it was my first time there. (She mistaken me for somebody else.) She was helpful but somewhat stoic. The service was okay. My Motown Philly was good. I shared it (half order sandwich) with my husband. He added hot sauce to enhance the sandwich to his liking. The curly fries were just okay. Taking into consideration the food and the service, I am giving this place a 3 star rating. Future visits will be a deciding factor whether or not to give them a 4 star rating. Time alone will tell.

We walked in without a reservation and were seated quickly. There was plenty of seating outside and a few tables inside; we chose inside. The atmosphere was lively but never loud! Everyone around us looked genuinely happy to be there. Service was a standout. Our waiter was attentive, fast, kind, and offered great recommendations without being pushy. Exactly what you want. Food: We started with the Corn Fritters and the Smashed Potatoes, both scrumptious, but the Corn Fritters were exceptional. Both came out hot, fast, and in generous portions. For our mains, we shared the Fried Chicken Sando and the Three Little Pigs. The Chicken Sando was phenomenal! I have not stopped thinking about it. The bun was warm, buttery, and soft, and the chicken was perfectly moist. On the Three Little Pigs tray, the pork shoulder was the clear winner: moist, beautifully seasoned, with just the right amount of fat. Really well done. The one letdown: the sausages and ribs on the Three Little Pigs tray were unfortunately quite dry, which was disappointing given how strong the rest of the meal was. The BBQ sauce was just okay, and the accompanying green salsa wasn't our style. Our bill came to $112 before tip; two appetizers, two mains, and an Arnold Palmer, which felt completely fair for the quality and portion sizes. We left stuffed and with a ton of leftovers. We will absolutely be back. Thank you, Spinning Bones, for making a special night even more memorable.

(Not to be confused with the Alameda Cinema Grill). I was there on a Tuesday morning at about 10:50 am. I asked the lady if she was open yet, and she happily said "YES....c'mon in!" This place is very small. As soon as you walk in you'll be at the counter of the kitchen. There's no lobby or dining room. I just ordered a Cheeseburger and Fries. She asked if I wanted a double, and held up two frozen meat patties. I agreed to a double, and she started cooking. FYI- I was a fast food shift Mgr decades ago, and I'm familiar w/ cooking burgers. She laid the two patties on the flat grill, and put a large searing tool on top for 2-3 mins. Then she dropped the fries in the fry vat. I asked for a burger with everything. The food was ready pretty quick, and I was on my way. Free ketchup and napkins. OMG, the french fries were excellent! Crispy on the outside and tender soft on the inside. Fries have a limited holding time of 7-10 mins. After that they become limp and soft. Eat those fries HOT, you will enjoy them more. The Double Cheeseburger was okay. The meat patties were not fully caramelized to bring out the flavor. Needed another slice of cheese. Maybe more mayo and seasonings. But it's a good size, and it's freshly made. It's a good value for the price. They need more outside seating. Burgers and fries should be enjoyed right away.
