Back for the third time, but this time I had to try one of their burritos. I'll keep it short, fresh, authentic and flavorful Mexican food. At this point I've tried their tacos, nachos, burritos and even their aguas frescas. They've never disappointed. The portions are generous, the ingredients taste fresh and you can tell they take pride in their food. The burrito was huge, packed with flavor and definitely filled me up. One thing I think is really cool is their mystery agua fresca selection, where you can choose between water based and milk based drinks. I ended up getting the strawberry milk based one, and just like the food, it tasted incredibly fresh and full of flavor. I've passed by Taco Fino Express many times while visiting the East End, and finally decided to stop in on a taco-craving day. Since it was midday, we expected to circle the area for parking, but luckily found street parking on Webb right away. They offer some outdoor seating, but with the heat, we opted to eat inside. The staff was friendly and didn't rush us while we looked over the menu and placed our order. We likely arrived just after the lunch rush, which made for a more relaxed experience. I ordered two tacos; one chicken and one beef since I wasn't sure which I'd prefer. The chicken ended up being my favorite. I also appreciated that the mild salsa was actually mild. My partner ordered the nachos with steak and pinto beans and said they really hit the spot. He's been on the hunt for nachos like these and has been disappointed elsewhere, so this was a win. For drinks, we shared a fountain soda (they carry Pepsi products), and I noticed they also had bottled Coca-Cola and other beverages near the register. Visited a few weeks ago on a warm and sunny weekend and had a delicious shrimp quesadilla. It was crispy, cheesy, and had a great sauce. It even had a little crisp of purple cabbage inside. Pretty good! Very clean inside. Stations were very clean as well. The service was super friendly and quick. Plenty of seating indoors. I did wish they provided hot sauce on the tables as well, which they didn't have and we had to ask for. As for the food, it was pretty good, but different. I got the asada burrito with a guac add-on. It was heftyyyy! The tortilla is pretty thick and flour-y in my opinion. The burrito was also soft and loose. Usually I like my burritos firm and with the thinner tortillas. Just missed the High School rush. The place wad pleasantly nice and clean. Greeted by cashier and was ready to help explain the menu items. We ordered the shrimp taco and quesabirria taco. The quesabirria taco was loaded with meat and cheese. It came with 2 tortillas. I would have preferred a more crunchy taco. You could actually taste the shrimp in the shrimp taco. They say the shrimp should have been grilled, but did not have the grilled taste. The taco was generously stuffed with all the ingredients and was enjoyed by both of us. Featured in the dining room is a hand-made model of the Park Street Bridge, complete with little vehicles. I've been to this place twice so far. The first time, I ordered the Cali-Burrito w/ steak. The burrito has tater tots instead of fries. The flavor was okay, and was easy to eat. The size was average for the price. I don't think I would order it again. My second visit, i ordered the nachos w/ carnitas. Lots of meat and toppings on top of a bed of chips. Very good! I enjoyed my order of nachos. Service was very fast and friendly. Just went back and brought my boyfriend and his friend to celebrate his belated birthday. They have never gone but I'm a repeat customer. The guys ordered guac & chips, Cali burrito Al pastor & Cali burrito asada. I ordered the loaded house special asada fries again because why not. I was surprised to find out that the Cali burrito is made with tater tots rather than fries at typical burrito places. Glad for it cause usually places salt their fries then add it to the Cali burrito and it's way too salty and super difficult to get thru taste wise. I'd probably order the loaded tater tots next time or a Cali burrito. I got a bite and flavor was there! Guac was super fresh, bright green, and chonky--how I like it! Place is as clean as can be as always. I followed their IG page as advertised on the register and I got a free fountain drink. Bonus: they happened to be testing out a new item, Birria Taco Melt, and the family-owned business offered us all a taco while we were waiting in line. It was literally amazing. Mexican food in Alameda generally is okay to good. Solid. But Taco Fino Express has raised the bar. It may look unassuming but there is some great cooking going on back there and everything we tried - shrimp tacos, quesabirria, carne asada burrito and a carnitas quesadilla - was delicious. Their guac is smooth and tasty (if you prefer chunky guac it won't be for you) and their salsa roja is nice and spicy. Prices are also reasonable. We went here because we saw they recently got broken into and wanted to support them. But this is not a score out of pity or sympathy for that situation. Love this place!! My son and I went for the second time tonight. I had the shrimp tacos and he had a chicken taco and the Fino Fries with steak. The staff was welcoming and friendly, the facilities were clean, and the food.... oh my goodness...heaven. It's a newer business in Alameda, and it wasn't terribly busy inside both times we went, which is shocking given the quality and quantity of the food and the stellar customer service. I feel like Alamedans get set in their ways when it comes to some of the long-established businesses they have always patronized. We were guilty of that too but you know what? Taco Fino makes better tacos amd burritos than our go-to place! I'm SO glad we tried them. They give really large portions, and they put this creamy orange sauce on the food. As a huge fan of aguas frescas I couldn't resist checking this place out as I was walking past, and I'm so glad I did! I ended up trying the pineapple water, and it was delicious! It has tater tots in it. - Fino fries - it was good, nothing special. Just fries in place of chips for the nachos I would have to say the service was very good. Well lit inside and theres plenty of seating. The service was good, plenty of napkins and utensils in my bag. The food tasted fresh, rice just came out so that was a plus. Who ever made the guac deserves a hug and a beer. 9/10 on the guacamole. I got the steak bowl, i think the pieces were a little small but pack flavor and wasn't too salty. They gave a good amount of food and the beans were really delicious as well as the vegetables and nothing was over cooked. Comes with a tostada on the side that was crispy and tasted like it didn't sit out for too long. Everything tasted great! I was running an errand and got a little hungry, and saw Taco Fino was just around the corner. I popped in to check out the menu, and the staff was immediately very friendly. I ordered their Taco Fino (shrimp taco on a 6" tortilla) - and wow! It was amazing! And their special sauce is SO flavorful! I'm still thinking about it. I was going to get an asada burrito but when I saw the asada, i changed my mind ( the meats , etc are out in front like a chipotle). The asada looked very dry and unseasoned. I decided to get carnitas. My partner got an asada burrito. My overall feeling of the burrito is that it was bland. Not much flavor . I ate a piece of carnita alone and it had a very slight flavor. I ate a pinto bean alone and same , just a slight hint of salt. My partner said his ( asada and refried beans) tasted like fast food Taco Bell quality. I was a bit disappointed but not surprised. I'm really happy to see something good finally move into the old Linguini's space, and Taco Fino is a solid addition. It's small, family-owned, and the owners were incredibly kind and welcoming when I stopped by. Definitely the kind of place I want to see succeed. So why a 4/5 and not higher? Well, opening a taqueria on Park Street is tough--there's already a lot of good competition. But Taco Fino clearly did their homework and found their lane. They're not trying to compete with the best taqueros across the bridge; they're here to fill a gap in Alameda's food scene. The menu leans Americanized Mexican--think nachos, burritos, Chipotle-style bowls--which makes sense for the area. It works, and I totally get why they went that route. It's just not the kind of place I'd put in my top-tier taco list. Right now, they offer four meats--carne asada, al pastor, pollo pastor, and carnitas. I had a carnitas bowl and a carne asada taco, and I have to say, the quality of the meat is noticeably better than most other taquerias in the area. It was perfectly cooked, well-seasoned, and everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. The space itself is nice--a little seating, but it feels more like a to-go spot. The standout for me? The salsa. They have an orange-ish hot sauce that is seriously spicy--the kind of heat I love. If you're into hot sauce, it's a must-try. Pricing is fair and in line with other places on Park Street, and given the ingredient quality, I think it's a great value. It's not the kind of place I'd go to for a street taco experience, but for a solid meal with great ingredients, it's worth checking out.
