In a recent Popeyes review I said I would prefer KFC over them. When I wrote that I had actually not had KFC for about 3 years or so. I would like to formally retract that statement and apologize to Popeye's after eating here. Popeye's, your chicken is marginally better than KFC's. I want to stress there's nothing really wrong with the location or the employees here, so don't fire anybody. It's purely the food, which I'm sure is at chain level. KFC has apparently decided to go absolute McDonalds-level bottom-barrel quality with their food and just load it with salt hoping you can't tell the difference. Rubbery, flavorless chicken. Instant powdered mash potatoes drowned in super-salty gravy. They're too cheap to even give you a pat of butter with your biscuit, instead you get The Colonel's Butter-esque Spread, half of which you can't even get out of the one grudging packet they give you. Same with the "honey sauce", look at the ingredients: high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, sugar, finally actual honey at #4. Only possible excuse I can see is if you're at Duds N Suds doing laundry on a M-Th and you creep over for some cheap filler lunch, they have like 2.99 chicken and corn on Monday, etc. As bad as this stuff is I'm not sure it's even worth 2.99, though. read more

I had always thought the idea behind the chain store was one gets the same thing and quality no matter which store one goes. So it does surprise me the difference between the KFC's even with in the Reno Sparks area. I was out and about with my sister today and she wanted some cole slaw and she favors KFC. So we decide to get a quick lunch at the same time. She ordered the bites and I the original chicken sandwich. Well the bites were hard little bullets and the chicken sand was dry and stringy and my slaw was dry with no zip. If all food came out of each store was as this they would close with in a year. The guy taking the order was very enthusiastic in his manor but for me a little hard to understand, but ok because he truly was giving it his all. The store was clean. read more

I have had some bad experiences at various KFC locations in the Reno/Sparks area. And the reviews on Yelp show that I am not alone. You can't find a KFC with more than 2.5 or 3 stars. However, I am a fried chicken lover and I love KFC no matter what. I came to this location for lunch with a co worker expecting a mediocre yet "did the job" experience and it was surprisingly much more than that. I don't know if I just happened to be there on a good day or if the KFC owners or perhaps corporate representatives started noticing that diners were not happy with the restaurants in this area, but from the service to the food, everything was great and vastly improved. The staff was very friendly and attentive, and the food was fresh and delicious. They took care in the aesthetics on how my tray was presented to me. Most importantly the fried chicken was cooked perfectly. Most of the time I get old, dried out, soggy pieces with hardly any meat on the bone. I hope to see more of the locations start to take greater care and pride in their service like this one. read more

Bruh. No honey for my biscuit, no gravy for my mashed potatoes, and the soda had no flavor. It literally tasted like club soda and I ordered Mountain Dew. The guy who served us was nice so they get one star for that. But just go to a different KFC. Not worth the time. read more

Besides the employees being friendly, this place has gone way downhill. No napkins in bag. No fork for coleslaw and no BBQ sauce for strips. Strips were under cooked. No butter for bisquit. Total joke. All the workers have been very nice always at least. read more

Wanted a crispy spicy chicken sandwich and decided to give KFC a chance. Ordered the Nashville Hot Crispy Colonel. It was crispy but had no spicy flavor to it, what they did was pour this oily hot sauce over the fried chicken to make it spicy. Crispy fried food cannot go with an oily sauce poured on top because it ends up soaking up the sauce and loses crispiness, and it also gets soaked into the bun. Besides, the hot sauce itself did not have much flavor to it. Portion was small for the price. I lost confidence in KFC chicken a while back and after this time I don't think I'll ever have KFC again. read more

This is the worst KFC in Reno or Sparks - ordered an 8 pc meal - ask for all mash and gravy - they gave me cole slaw - went back after I got home and they were rude - they decided to give me a couple of mash and gravy - I looked in the bag and seen one on top so I figured it was fine - when I got home again there was another coleslaw on the bottom - they did that just to stick it to me I guess - to be mean for some reason - I'm a disabled veteran and it was hard for me to go back to second time so I just want to let people know how the KFC is on South Virginia by the mall - read more

My son loves KFC and so I decided to take him to grab some chicken and qnmat about 9:45pm we pull into their drive through and 2 other cars pull in behind me. I sit there saying hello and no ones answers, so I call KFC on the phone and ask if they have any chicken left. The gentleman on the phone says yes and asks if I'm the one in the drive through and I say yes and he tells me to come to the window. I pull to the window and an older woman opens the window and tells me they are closed. I tell her I just spoke with a man and he told me to pull up. She proceeds to tell me that KFC closes at 9:40 and she threw the remaining chicken away. I understand that I shower up 15 minutes before they close, but to throw away ALL the chicken 15 minutes before you close is just ridiculous!! I called to double check what time they closed before I drive all the way over there! I am absolutely in love with the service in this place! They are so polite especially the mexican girl( she seems like the lead or manager, i'm just guessing), there were a few time they took longer than usual to get my orders ready, so while i was waiting they constantly apologize for it and gave me a free drink while i wait. And there were a few times right before they close i will go there and buy dinner but they ran out of the things i want so i had to settle for my second favorite, then they will give me a free cole slaw or something to make it up for me. Omg! When is the last time people who works there actually gives a F about your feeling or time, they actually try to make u happy! I am amazed by the service here. Srsly! We were passing through headed to South Lake Tahoe and I was craving chicken! Lol We stopped at another one close by and they said they were about to close and they wouldn't cook any crispy chicken. We called this one before just to make sure. They gladly said they would. We walked in with 30 minutes to closing time. The place was clean and the 3 workers were so nice and welcoming. I really hate to give anyone a one star rating but I do believe in honesty and, if managers and/or owners read reviews, then businesses can be improved which in turn, benefits both the customers and the business. I was running errands when my daughter asked me to pickup some Popeye's biscuits and chicken. I wasn't anywhere near a Popeye's so thought I'd grab some KFC. I hadn't eaten there in years. I won't be going back soon if at all. I ordered an eight piece extra crispy bucket with some biscuits and wedge fries. They were out of breasts so they gave me grilled ones instead. I remember their grilled chicken being really yummy but these breasts were hard and dry. We couldn't chew them, they were literally like leather! The fried chicken wasn't much better as it had too much batter and seemed a little undercooked. The biscuits were tasteless. Wedge fries get a B and we gobbled them up. We threw away most of the chicken and all of the biscuits. It sucks to have paid $25 for something we couldn't eat. I don't know how they stay afloat serving food as crappy as that. read more

I'd like to call this place...drumroll please... Kentucky Fried Abortions. Why? This has nothing to do with chicken treatment, but simply because I came here on my son's first birthday with a friend of mine and her son for lunch. We had the free chicken coupons and the girls behind the counter were discussing abortions and whether or not it was too late to get one. Are you f'ing kidding me!? Other than that, the food was good, place wasn't super clean and the chicks were then telling another customer about how Oprah bought the chicken like they're her bff. I guess if you consider the conversations of the cashiers it was a little amusing but I wasn't thrilled. Of course what was I expecting, it was a KFC. If all you care about is a decent bite to eat for a reasonable price, yea it's great. If you want a classier environment, take it to go and eat it at home. read more

When I was younger I loved going to KFC for their popcorn chicken and biscuits. But I have to agree with every bad review of this location. Every time I have come here they have been out of something or the food wasn't up to it's usual standard. The review about substituting items is true. Some employees will let you, most of them like to be jerks. Sadly, I never feel welcome here. Go down the block to Popeyes, or better yet, across the street to Caines. read more

This was probably the cleanest KFC I have ever been too. We went on Wednesday July 3rd at 930 at night. Jason was the man who took our order. He really made our experience the best. He was polite and gave great suggestions. Was honest about the selection the had for that time of night and why it was lacking. I started to speak when a man came over and yelled at me to give him time and he will be back. He startled me. A few minutes went by when he came back on and said what do you want. This place is not bad when you have craving for fried chicken and don't want to drive out to popeyes. The only complaint I have is that my potatoe salad was frozen so I didn't get to eat it. But the chicken and coleslaw were good. I do hate how they charge extra for the white meat breast. But whatever we will keep coming back when the cravings hit. read more

just had lunch there (mae anne ave location) . won't go back! as we were eating our meal, a woman in a sundress walked into the sitting area barefoot. couldn't believe it! she sat across from us and had her leg/foot dangling across her other leg - foot out (for all to see). it was black and filthy! i couldn't finish my meal. as we were leaving i asked to speak to a manager - the young person up front didn't seem to have a clue what i was asking for. she went back and got another employee to come up front - the same person who took our order - clearly not a manager of any sorts. i said "i can't believe you serve people who come in here barefoot" - and pointed out the person at the table. she said "sorry i didn't see it." i said "really, she walks in the door and up to the counter to place an order and you didn't notice she was barefoot? " no response. i said" it's disgusting." waited a minute and still no response, just a blank look on her face. as i was going out the door, a guy who was in there eating at the same time and overheard my "conversation" with the "manager" said, "oh they noticed all right. they just don't care." i repeated "its disgusting" and he says "it is, but they don't care." as i said up front - won't go back. guess i'll have to settle for Chick-fil-A. and as i was getting in my car, the barefoot customer came out and walked across the parking lot - scummy, dirty... and... gross... and... if you look a'tall the reviews for kfc, maybe 1 is above a 2 or 3... would like to know who the franchise owners are - but like the guy said, they don't care. read more

When I go to this location, the customer service is not the best. The chicken is usually dried out at this location and depending on who is working you may or may not be able to substitute a side. It seems each person has a different set of rules. I favor other locations much better! read more

This restaurant serves us mashed potatoes with hair. We returned the food and got our money back. When I looked around, not a single table had been cleaned. The counter looked like it was wiped down with a dirty rag. Owners should FIRE the management and staff. Won't be going back. read more

Had undercooked chicken and when I went and showed it to the cashier they told me tough luck then turned around and started speaking Spanish with the staff and I can only assume they were laughing at my misfortune. I had trash-ass service. I sat in line for over 40 minutes, 20 of which I was waiting for someone to take my order with no one in front of me, and the other 20 of which one person was in front of us. Multiple people have walked out which were standing behind us. A guy walked in because they forgot half of his order and didn't give him the sauce he asked for or a spoon which I'll add he also asked for. They were not friendly. They had about 6 people + (yes we counted) working, not a single one at the register, or none wearing gloves or a hair net which is very unsanitary and unpleasant. I don't know when the last time they had washed their hands was but personally I wouldn't like to find out. My friend and I were constantly getting glared at by a worker as we waited in line. And if the guy working the register wasn't busy trying to flirt (which he failed) with my friend and stopped looking at her maybe more orders would have been taken. The inside of the chicken was disgusting and very disappointing. A manager was also worked and doing just as trashy if not worse of a job, and was the one glaring. And if I could rate lower than one star I would. Personally I do not recommend this place. The service and the food was all shit and I'm disappointed. read more

I don't eat fried food, but I do eat grilled chicken. It's advertised all over the building 2nd time I've come here and NO GRILLED CHICKEN. The manager said their equipment wasn't working properly. Waste of a drive and disappointment for a million dollar franchise. Never coming back again. read more
