The Bronx location of Khalil's Biryani House is the one people talk about. This newer Jamaica location is far smaller with only a handful of tables. The food here is still very good. The specialty is their biryani, of which they have several varieties. They have chicken biryani ($9.99), goat biryani ($12.99), beef biden biryani ($14.99), and more. They also have non biryani dishes like curry, tandoori chicken and a handful of appetizers too. Overall, those prices are very fair, considering they give you a big portion. My friends and I were all full. The only criticism we had was that they are a little cheap with the meat. Most of the dishes were rice, and of the meat that was given to us, a lot of it was just pieces of bone. Overall, it was still a satisfactory meal.

The food was good and service was good excellent. Our server, Nikita was very nice. The place is clean and atmosphere is very friendly. You feel like you are at a neighborhood restaurant where everyone is welcoming.

Khalil Biryani House has a lot of hype within the Bengali community in NYC -- it has been featured on the news and is all over social media. Naturally, my family wanted to give it a try and see what the hype was about. I do have to say that it's certainly not bad, but in my experience, the food did not live up to my expectations (which may have been too high from hearing of the sheer popularity of this restaurant). Food takes a bit to come out, and given how popular it is, a lot of dishes tend to be sold out a lot of the time. Another thing to note is that certain dishes are only served on certain days -- like their Kacchi biryani. While we're on the Kacchi, I do want to share that we tried their famous Biden biryani and we couldn't tell the difference between that and their Kacchi. Even our server couldn't tell Our first time at Khalil's was in the Bronx, a restaurant that is much bigger than their Jamaica location and also has a Indo -Chinese menu. The Jamaica branch only serves Desi food, and the seating is a bit scarce given the space. The servers at both locations are great - they will check in every now and then and do their best to accomodate you. All in all, I am very happy to see a Bengali small business gain so much publicity and hype.

Their kacchi biryani was so delicious. The bones were literally melted my mouth with the marrow coming out. Very flavorful, loved the potatoes on it.

Tasty food, and good service. I recommend the goat biryani. Another plus, was that the bathroom was clean.

This review is ONLY about the food and my experience eating here. I stumbled across this spot and stopped in because I was curious about the food since it was vegeterian and I was on a no-meat cleanse. It's a bit inconspicuous so you may not even realize it's a restaurant from the outside. That being said, it seems to be a very popular vegetarian spot in the area and has a good variety of vegetarian Indian dishes as well as Western vegetarian dishes. The spot is midsized, with a good amount of seating. The staff were very friendly and helpful with questions about the dishes. I ordered a few items - vegetables pakora, bhajia, and the Annam Brahma dinner. I also tried their chai. Overall, the food wasn't too bad and was a good portion for the price. I loved the chai and also ordered a mango lassi, which was also very tasty. The pakora and bhajia were delicious and paired well with the sauce. The Annam Brahma dinner was filling although I wish it has a bit more seasoning. Overall, this is a good spot for vegetarian food if you're in the neighborhood and looking for a good vegetarian spot.

To start off we got the Aloo Gobi Samosa which was good. As for the main dish I got the Chicken Saag Tikka which was very good but had very little chicken inside of it which was really disappointing. It seems like I was just eating a dish filled with sauce and few pieces of chicken inside it. We got one order of garlic and rosemary naan which was already cut up in quarter pieces. The naan came in very useful especially with all that extra sauce I had left from my chicken saag tikka dish. To finish off the night I got the Malai Kulfi ice cream for desert which was super frozen took some struggle to break off the pieces without making a mess. Overall this place is a nice quiet spot for dinner not to mention the TV above the door had plenty of Indian music videos on the whole time we were there. Also the service was good no complaints here.

The Food The cooking…read morehere is the real thing -- not the flattened, one-note version of Indian food that so many places settle for, where everything arrives tasting vaguely of the same sauce. At Tikka n' Talk, the spicing has genuine architecture. Each dish has its own personality, its own balance, its own arc from first bite to last. You taste individual spices rather than a generic wall of heat, and there's a depth underneath that only comes from someone who actually knows what they're doing. The tikka is outstanding and lives up to the name -- properly charred at the edges, smoky from real high-heat cooking, and still tender inside. That combination is harder to pull off than it looks, and getting it right every time takes skill. The curries have body and complexity. Sauces that have clearly been built rather than assembled, with layers that reveal themselves as you eat. Nothing is greasy, nothing is heavy in the bad way, and nothing tastes like it came out of a can. The bread deserves its own mention. Fresh, blistered, warm -- the kind you keep tearing off pieces of long after you're full. The Room and the Service The name isn't accidental. This is a place designed for lingering, and the atmosphere delivers on it. Warm, comfortable, and genuinely welcoming without being fussy. It's the kind of room where conversation flows easily, where you settle in without noticing an hour has passed. The staff are a huge part of that. Warm, attentive without hovering, and clearly happy you came. They know the menu cold and will steer you well if you ask -- including on spice levels, which they'll actually calibrate to what you want rather than defaulting to whatever's easiest. That kind of care shows up everywhere in the experience. Food comes out hot, timed well, and exactly as ordered. Basic things, but plenty of places fail at them. The Bottom Line Tikka n' Talk is the rare restaurant that's excellent on every axis at once -- the cooking is skilled, the room is inviting, and the people running it obviously care. It's become a regular for us, and I recommend it without hesitation to anyone who asks where to eat. If you haven't been, go. Order more than you think you need. Stay a while -- the name is an instruction, and it's good advice. Highest possible recommendation.

I ordered the goat curry special which came with a side of dal, bread rice and a sweet kulab gaman for $17. Delivery order This…read morewas a miss. While the order was on time and the driver was courteous the restaurant will not be getting more business from me. They got 2 parts of the order wrong. The worst was the drink. I paid EXTRA for strawberry lemonade. Not only was there no strawberry, it wasn't even lemonade. It dusty colored cold water that tasted like someone added a teaspoon of lemon concentrate. No sweetness, barely any flavor at all. Just a weak hint of fake lemon. Definitely no strawberries. The food itself was not great. Just meh. The lamb vindaloo was the only thing with any character. I think there were 4 small cubes of lamb and 3 small potato cubes. I know it's a lunch portion, but dang. They didn't skimp on the sauce though. Everything was drowning in sauce. I've never had thin tomato soup before, but the flavor was OK. I might try those ingredients myself at home with some Campbell's - and a heavier hand. At least it was piping hot. The one thing I really liked was the naan! It was soft and warm and tasted like it had just been made. This was a $20 order, I expected a lot better. I didn't think the bread would be the star of this show.
