I tried Khamdee Thai Kitchen for the first time today and I am so happy I did. I was greeted kindly and menu items were explained to me while I placed my takeout order. While I waited for my takeout order to be ready, I was provided a Thai iced tea which was fantastic while I sat and waited in the restaurant. The restaurant has a nice ambiance with a friendly vibe. When I got home to eat my meal with my family, the peanut sauce was perfection- and I'm a peanut sauce snob LoL. I like that it was explained to me in the restaurant that the peanut sauce for the salad is a slightly different consistency so it can coat the salad nicely and labeled in bag so I knew which peanut sauce container to add to my salad. I'm so glad I bought extra peanut sauce as well. It's so delicious! Chicken satay was great, and the drunken noodles were extremely flavorful with the right amount of spice for my liking. The massaman curry was one of the best I ever had and my husband pad Thai was yummy. Overall, I will be coming back to this restaurant again for sure! Thanks for a great experience. read more

Ordered takeout and food was once again delicious! Khamdee Thai Kitchen is my go to Thai food spot. Right when the pandemic had hit last March/April we were supposed to be on our way to Thailand but unfortunately the world shut down. One of the dishes that I was really looking forward to trying in Thailand was Khao Soi so was a bit disappointed when we wouldn't get to go and try it but then I found this gem of a place on Long Island that had it and ordered it to try and it's been my go to takeout order every time now! Can't believe we just discovered this place... absolutely incredible food. We tried 5 different dishes and each one was unique and delectable. We will 100% be going back on the regular. My wife and I walked in and the owner immediately came up to is and said, "Do you girls have a reservation?" and then continued to talk without letting us say a word, even to answer his question, and told us it's really busy and there would be a super long wait time. His tone was unfriendly and he sounded like he thought he was doing us a favor. Not to mention he called us "girls" - we are both over 50! Newsflash, if you don't want me to call you a boy, don't call me a girl. Now I see multiple negative reviews about the owner's rudeness, and nasty replies from him when reviews are critical in any way. Might have had the best Thai meal ever! Restaurant is owned by a husband and wife. She is the sole cook and he seems to do everything else, waiter,etc. Started with a Tom Yom soup. Perfection! Just the right amount of zing and still allowed you to taste everything. Next, pork buns that were beyond delicious. We had a spicy pork eggplant basil dish and a chicken Pad Kee Mao dish. Both were exceptional! Every dish was served hot (temperature) and left you completely satisfied! Looking forward to going back and trying more dishes on their menu. At first we couldn't find the restaurant, but when we finally walked inside, the restaurant was clean and well-decorated. The service was wonderful and the staff was so polite. Wanted to love this place based off the awesome reviews. I ordered chicken pad thai (my favorite Thai dish) and it was the worst. It actually reminded me of spaghetti and had a tomato pasta base which I've never tasted in pad Thai. The noodles are regularly larger than a spaghetti noodle. Actually could not finish and had to throw it out. It was edible but had an off taste. I've had Pad Thai in over 10 restaurants between Long Island and Brooklyn so I know what it should taste like. The appetizers and Thai iced tea were delicious (gave two stars) - but highly disappointed with the chicken Pad Thai. Edit Post Owners Comment: Wow, I've seen where others agreed with me on your Pad Thai and gave you 1 star (I gave you 2) and you were kinder to them in your response. Saying you agreed with them and come in for a meal on you. Yet, you tell me to go elsewhere? Interesting. FYI- I didn't order Pad Kee Mao- I ordered Chicken Pad Thai which has never had a tomato or tamarind base. Amazing!! I've never been to Thailand before but I can live vicariously through eating food from here! First off the husband wife duo team is awesome, support family business! The chef/wife uses authentic Thai ingredients and you can taste the love and care they put in each dish. The portions are very generous and the food is delicious! We ordered appetizers including the papaya salad (deliciously spicy and fresh), the pork dumplings which were so soft and juicy, the fragrant chicken satay avocado vegetable curry dish(yum smooth coconut milk base), pad Thai (so good!) and the khamdee fried rice which was also so fragrant and lovely. The former Nara Thai Has closed and reopened under new ownership as Khamdee Thai kitchen about 3 weeks ago, a husband and wife operation according to the host Daniel. We are always looking for great thai and found it here, especially great duck salad and entrees. We got ours to go so the photos of our pad thai, fried rice and duck salad don't do justice to the dishes, so I only included the pic of Crispy Chinese Pork (yum!) but the dishes were delicious. I recommend Crispy Red Snapper Lard Prick which is tastier than some restaurants in Thailand. The fish is very crispy and eaten with jasmine rice. The rice at this restaurant is authentic jasmine rice. The fish tastes really delicious. Another main dish that we eat is chicken classic, chicken smells very good with lemongrass, very good taste, comes with spicy Thai papaya salad and sticky rice. I love this place! They have now new owners and the chef was Amazing! I had been in Thailand before and the food here is very authentic, spicy and delicious just like in Thailand! My wife is from Bangkok and she was impressed with the variety of delicious dishes. We had for appetizers the Bangkok Wing, and Chicken Satay. Both were delicious, the sweet chilli sauce and peanut sauce taste fresh and unique. For main dish I had the Classic Chicken with the papaya salad and my wife had the Crispy Red Snapper Lard Prick. My boyfriend and I had dinner at Khamdee Thai Kitchen last night and we were extremely impressed and delighted with the food/drinks and the service. I have a huge affinity for Thai food - it's probably one of my favorites cuisines. I work in Manhattan and have tried a countless of Thai spots in the city as well as several spots in Queens and Long Island, so I somewhat know what constitutes as good Thai food, haha. My boyfriend has also been to Thailand, so he has had authentic Thai cuisine. He says I'm a snob when it comes to Thai food in particular - supposedly my standards are very high, and I guess I'm in agreeance on that. Anyway, upon visiting Khamdee Thai Kitchen last night, I ordered pad see ew (w/ tofu and veggies), my boyfriend ordered pad thai (w/chicken) and red curry (with chicken) to share and BOY were we in for a treat. The sauce for the pad see ew (my favorite) was so flavorful and delicious. I loved the selection of veggies they included and the noodles were perfectly cooked. The tofu was also very delicious. My boyfriend was delighted with his pad thai - said it was amazing, and the red curry was also INCREDIBLY rich with flavor (I'm getting hungry just thinking back to last night, haha). We also had mango sticky rice which was to die for. I'm not big on dessert, and I seldom order it, but i'll be ordering dessert every time I return to this restaurant. The presentation was A+ Last but not least, the service was amazing. Our waitress was a doll - very attentive and friendly and the owner was also extremely kind and made sure all was copacetic throughout our experience. Overall, I loved this spot - 11/10 stars. I will be returning. My only gripe is that I live somewhat far away (in queens), but this place is positively worth the travel. I'm always willing to travel to uncover and revisit great Thai restaurants. My two favorite Thai restaurants are in Manhattan (one uptown, the other downtown.) Just ordered some lunch specials for takeout and WOW! Delicious! I ordered the Pad Thai, Basil Fried Rice and Red Curry and papaya salad. Looks like a lovely place with nice clean decor too for dining in. Friendly owner and food was ready on time like they said. Everything was super fresh and piping hot. Just moved to the neighborhood and grew up in Queens around some of the best Thai food and I am so glad to be so close to Khamdee now. They are up there with the best Thai in NY and easily going to be my go to spot now. read more

Idk. I'm really conflicted on what a good rating for this spot is. I don't think it's the worst at all.. The owner was taking about how his wife (the chef) went to school for years and they serve authentic food and they're the best around and talking about all the awards and other Thai places don't know what they're doing and just going on and on about how great his wife is at cooking. The spring rolls were DEFINITELY the worst I've ever had in my life. They had such an off flavor-maybe the oil was dirty? Idk ....The pad Thai I ordered was not even close to the best I've ever had. It wasn't horrible by any means...definitely edible...but by the way he was hyping his wife's food up I was expecting much better. The noodles didn't stay noodles they were extremely soggy and they cut up into tiny pieces every time I tried to grab some with chop sticks or a fork so I had to eat it with a spoon, and the chicken wasn't tender. It could have been a lot more flavorful as well. The fried calamari was decent and not chewy at all which I loveeee but the batter could have been seasoned better/more....
