Might have had the best Thai meal ever! Restaurant is owned by a husband and wife. She is the sole cook and he seems to do everything else, waiter,etc. Started with a Tom Yom soup. Perfection! Just the right amount of zing and still allowed you to taste everything. Next, pork buns that were beyond delicious. We had a spicy pork eggplant basil dish and a chicken Pad Kee Mao dish. Both were exceptional! Every dish was served hot (temperature) and left you completely satisfied! Looking forward to going back and trying more dishes on their menu. Wanted to love this place based off the awesome reviews. I ordered chicken pad thai (my favorite Thai dish) and it was the worst. It actually reminded me of spaghetti and had a tomato pasta base which I've never tasted in pad Thai. The noodles are regularly larger than a spaghetti noodle. Actually could not finish and had to throw it out. It was edible but had an off taste. I've had Pad Thai in over 10 restaurants between Long Island and Brooklyn so I know what it should taste like. The appetizers and Thai iced tea were delicious (gave two stars) - but highly disappointed with the chicken Pad Thai. Edit Post Owners Comment: Wow, I've seen where others agreed with me on your Pad Thai and gave you 1 star (I gave you 2) and you were kinder to them in your response. Saying you agreed with them and come in for a meal on you. Yet, you tell me to go elsewhere? Interesting. FYI- I didn't order Pad Kee Mao- I ordered Chicken Pad Thai which has never had a tomato or tamarind base. Amazing!! I've never been to Thailand before but I can live vicariously through eating food from here! First off the husband wife duo team is awesome, support family business! The chef/wife uses authentic Thai ingredients and you can taste the love and care they put in each dish. The portions are very generous and the food is delicious! We ordered appetizers including the papaya salad (deliciously spicy and fresh), the pork dumplings which were so soft and juicy, the fragrant chicken satay avocado vegetable curry dish(yum smooth coconut milk base), pad Thai (so good!) and the khamdee fried rice which was also so fragrant and lovely. The former Nara Thai Has closed and reopened under new ownership as Khamdee Thai kitchen about 3 weeks ago, a husband and wife operation according to the host Daniel. We are always looking for great thai and found it here, especially great duck salad and entrees. We got ours to go so the photos of our pad thai, fried rice and duck salad don't do justice to the dishes, so I only included the pic of Crispy Chinese Pork (yum!) but the dishes were delicious. I love this place! They have now new owners and the chef was Amazing! I had been in Thailand before and the food here is very authentic, spicy and delicious just like in Thailand! My wife is from Bangkok and she was impressed with the variety of delicious dishes. We had for appetizers the Bangkok Wing, and Chicken Satay. Both were delicious, the sweet chilli sauce and peanut sauce taste fresh and unique. For main dish I had the Classic Chicken with the papaya salad and my wife had the Crispy Red Snapper Lard Prick. Idk. I'm really conflicted on what a good rating for this spot is. I don't think it's the worst at all.. The owner was taking about how his wife (the chef) went to school for years and they serve authentic food and they're the best around and talking about all the awards and other Thai places don't know what they're doing and just going on and on about how great his wife is at cooking. The spring rolls were DEFINITELY the worst I've ever had in my life. They had such an off flavor-maybe the oil was dirty? Idk ....The pad Thai I ordered was not even close to the best I've ever had. It wasn't horrible by any means...definitely edible...but by the way he was hyping his wife's food up I was expecting much better. The noodles didn't stay noodles they were extremely soggy and they cut up into tiny pieces every time I tried to grab some with chop sticks or a fork so I had to eat it with a spoon, and the chicken wasn't tender. It could have been a lot more flavorful as well. The fried calamari was decent and not chewy at all which I loveeee but the batter could have been seasoned better/more.... My boyfriend and I had dinner at Khamdee Thai Kitchen last night and we were extremely impressed and delighted with the food/drinks and the service. I have a huge affinity for Thai food - it's probably one of my favorites cuisines. I work in Manhattan and have tried a countless of Thai spots in the city as well as several spots in Queens and Long Island, so I somewhat know what constitutes as good Thai food, haha. My boyfriend has also been to Thailand, so he has had authentic Thai cuisine. He says I'm a snob when it comes to Thai food in particular - supposedly my standards are very high, and I guess I'm in agreeance on that. Anyway, upon visiting Khamdee Thai Kitchen last night, I ordered pad see ew (w/ tofu and veggies), my boyfriend ordered pad thai (w/chicken) and red curry (with chicken) to share and BOY were we in for a treat. The sauce for the pad see ew (my favorite) was so flavorful and delicious. I loved the selection of veggies they included and the noodles were perfectly cooked. The tofu was also very delicious. My boyfriend was delighted with his pad thai - said it was amazing, and the red curry was also INCREDIBLY rich with flavor (I'm getting hungry just thinking back to last night, haha). We also had mango sticky rice which was to die for. I'm not big on dessert, and I seldom order it, but i'll be ordering dessert every time I return to this restaurant. The presentation was A+ Last but not least, the service was amazing. Our waitress was a doll - very attentive and friendly and the owner was also extremely kind and made sure all was copacetic throughout our experience. Overall, I loved this spot - 11/10 stars. I will be returning. My only gripe is that I live somewhat far away (in queens), but this place is positively worth the travel. I'm always willing to travel to uncover and revisit great Thai restaurants. My two favorite Thai restaurants are in Manhattan (one uptown, the other downtown.) Just ordered some lunch specials for takeout and WOW! Delicious! I ordered the Pad Thai, Basil Fried Rice and Red Curry and papaya salad. Looks like a lovely place with nice clean decor too for dining in. Friendly owner and food was ready on time like they said. Everything was super fresh and piping hot. Just moved to the neighborhood and grew up in Queens around some of the best Thai food and I am so glad to be so close to Khamdee now. I am not sure why this thai restaurant has had negative reviews... I tried this Thai restaurant on several occasions before giving a full review. I had the pad see ew which was delicious, very authentic tasting. I also had the drunken noddles which were very delicious as well. I have not tried the pad Thai to which many complain about it having a tamarind base that is why I cannot give a full 5 stars yet, however I will update my review when I try this restaurant again.
