No response from anyone after submitting a report via the Tropical Smoothie Cafe phone number ((770) 821-1900) and web form and being assured that it had been "escalated." I received these assurances multiple times as a I called back repeatedly over the course of a couple of weeks now. So the only word of response was a local store manager named Hanna telling me that I have to drive in to get a replacement, and offering some "VIP" card that was not explained. Despite me bringing it up multiple times, no acknowledgement has been made of how strange it is that they require the customer pick up corrections to delivery orders. They just act like I never said it. Even pizza places deliver replacement orders all the time. This Tropical Smoothie Cafe ignored my direct message here as well. Conclusion: They want you to go away if you're inconvenient. Don't waste your time with their feedback form or phone number. The people working the phones are nice, but they clearly just hand the issue to the local store, who are apparently encouraged to ignore whatever issues they don't want to address. read more

Goodness how I love Tropical Smoothie. This is fantastic to get your smoothie/slushie fix without feeling like a big jerk about it, either. I have tried a few summer favorites, Watermelon Mojito, a guava smoothie of amazingness, and I think the Strawberry Daiquiri. I have tried many more smoothies, but I don't know, I love them all. This location is great, everyone is friendly and greets you, you get your drink quick, and you're out. I feel like you get 100 ounces of smoothie! You don't, but that's how large it feels, and I love it. It's a great meal replacement when you're on the go, too. I know smoothies are more of a warm weather thing, but they do have food, which act more like lunch options. There's something for everyone, which is nice. read more

This place is so so good! My friends and I pick food and smoothies up from here sometimes and we are never disappointed. Although the smoothies are pretty expensive, it's because they are HUGE. My go-to is the Island Green which is made with spinach, kale, mango, pineapple, and banana. My next try is definitely going to be the Avocolada one because it sounds amazing with avocado, coconut, and lime. The food here is delicious, and I am in love with their smoky-cado grilled cheese. As you can tell, I LOVE avocados. They also have a bunch of bowls, quesadillas, flatbreads, and wraps. Pricing for the food isn't terribly high, and even if you don't get a meal with a 24 oz smoothie, you get chips, a banana or apple, or kale apple slaw on the side. My mother recommended this cafe for lunch. I was really glad she did. The two of us split the chicken and three cheese quesadilla and my dad got the Turkey bacon sandwich. Mom and I also split a smoothie which came within an edible strawberry straw! Delicious. Our to go order was well packed and the order correct. Dad thought his Turkey was a little dry but mom liked the sandwich (I didn't try it). I completely recommend this restaurant, in part because they have combos with an entree and a smoothie. Hands down my favorite fast food establishment. I was so disappointed when the previous tropical smoothie restaurant in the area closed but was happy to see it replaced with this new one. Newley opened just serval months ago, this Tropical Smoothie location is by far the best one. Staffed with friendly wait staff, and meticulously maintained. I am never disappointed to pick up a refreshing smoothie from them or a bite to eat. Everything tastes incredibly fresh, and everything is made to order. Their smoothies are a total hit. I am personally obsessed with their Island Green Smoothie, but its honestly hard to pick a favorite amongst their vast selection. All smoothies are able to be altered and can be modified to fit dietary restrictions. I elect to eliminate added sugars to my smoothies to cut back on extra calories. As far as food choices, everything on their menu is good. If you want a salad, their kale Caesar is a good portion size with sliced chicken for protein. My go-to staple is their All-American breakfast wrap, that I honestly eat at all times of the day. It's a warm wrap with oozing out American cheese, ham, warmed up in a toasty wrap. Make sure to download their functional app that works as a loyalty program and as a way to order ahead and pick up at the counter for fast service. For so long I have wanted a smoothie place in Arlington Heights and at long last, Tropical Smoothie Cafe is here! I was one of the first 50 people in line and got a voucher for "1 Free Smoothie a Week for a Year" I woke up at 6 and was able to get a spot in line! The employees were really nice, they gave us a bit of history about the history of TSC and talked with a lot of the folks waiting in line. Once I was in and ordered my smoothie (I used the app to pay), the smoothie was completed in a very timely manner, especially considering the amount of people in line. The smoothie I got, Sunrise Sunset, tastes divine and was very SMOOTH if I do say so myself. The cafe itself is very modern and the staff is very friendly. Tropical Smoothie Cafe (TSC) clearly never learned the core concept behind a franchise: consistency. I once ordered a buffalo chicken wrap, and the thing felt like it was empty -- virtually nothing in it, and dry as a bone to boot. I gave the wrap a second shot recently, and this time, I was served what looked like the aftermath of a firework vs. a diaper. It was like the kid that made the wrap just said "f--- it" and decided to put all of that day's buffalo sauce into just my wrap. By the time I got it, the tortilla was a gummy, nasty mess and the lettuce was limp and disgusting. The photos speak for themselves. And echoing Andra M.'s review... The detox smoothie was my regular choice of drink, and Andra is absolutely correct in that they leave out ingredients virtually every time (often the ginger). The only thing worse than this place's food is the fact that they're probably paying some kids $15, $18, even $20+/hr. to make and serve this slop. Avoid this place. It's as gross as it looks. PS: The wife went to get a wrap here today because she was in the area and in a hurry, and they weren't even serving food due to being under-staffed. This place is a dumpster fire. read more

Nothing special about their sandwiches. They are decent and maybe a little bit overpriced for the quality of the food. The smoothie in this location is mediocre. It taste like a flavored ice. I have been to other locations in Sterling Heights, MI, for instance, their smoothie is completely different taste and much better in quality, so probably it's not the corporate issue. When I'm on the mood for a truly tasting tropical Smoothie this is where I go. Their menu has a huge selection. There's something there for everyone! T the store itself is always nice and clean. The fruits they used for the smoothies are always fresh. The service is fast. Even when they store is packed with people, the employees are incredibly organized and officiant. The portions are large. I typically can't finish one by myself. The only draw backs, it is, in my opinion, a bit pricey. They only offer one size smoothie and they charge upwards of $8 each. The other drawback would be location. They are located in a very tiny building, in the parking lot of a strip mall, and then store tight next to them is a famous coffee shop. The coffee shop has a drive thru which frequently causes huge back ups while people are attempting to squeeze in to then very few parking spaces that they store has. read more

I was heading to Trader Joe's when I saw this new place and thought GREAT! The suburbs are in serious need of healthier options and I wanted to give it a try. I got an Island Detox smoothie and a Baja chicken wrap to go. It was all very fresh and had flavor which is super important to me. A lot of health food can be flavorless and the wrap was great. The smoothie was good but I thought it seemed watered down. Thought it would be a bit greener and hardier considering the ingredients but maybe it's just me. I also then asked for the corporate number and she then told me I don't think I can give out that information. It was my first time walking into tropical Cafe and i was very disappointed in the service. I was in there for 10 min and the staff COMPLETELY ignored me. It was NOT Busy at all, in Fact there were 5 employees all hanging in the back chatting and not one of them came to me and asked if I want anything. After the time I waited a girl came to me and asked If I wanted anything but by the time that happened it was to late. This is what happens when you employee CHILDREN who don't know the meaning of service and who are not trained properly. I will NEVER step foot in that place, It'll close down in no time guaranteed. Just found out this place has a TON of vegan options! They use beyond chicken so with some simple modifications, vegans/vegetarians have plenty of options. Plus, a lot of their smoothies are automatically vegan! Had the blueberry bliss and chicken Baja wrap ( nix the cheese and swap for vegan chicken). So good! read more

Where do I start. about 7 years ago they had a location by my house and did a little school coupon thing at my child's school and they PICKED to do buy one get one free after a week or so they stopped accepting the coupons so let's say they closed the location pretty soon after this. Seeing that the re did it and opened a new one I was hoping to see new updates and a actually trustworthy business. What I saw was a small overpriced loud hallway that happened to make smoothies. I had been going to tropical Smoothie since it opened in Arlington heights. I went everyday, the smoothies were great and the staff was great, Most of the staff has left or been fired and unfortunately the new staff it appears were. It taught how to make smoothies. Today is the last time I wi go there I have been there 4 times since entire new staff started and this has been the 4th detox island green I have had to throw away. Probably the easiest smoothie to make but not for the staff working there now. I have been there 3times and each time one of the most important ingredient left out is ginger when I brought back the smoothie there response was we are out of ginger which is something I should have been told when I was purchasing it not after. Then could not figure out how to give tefund I was just in today and asked if they had ginger the response was yes but apparently they don't know what ginger is because none was on the smoothie. Visited this restaurant yesterday. Ordered $29.00 worth of food and sat down inside. Very loud due to smoothie making. We then waited from 12:11 to 12:45. When asked at 12:45 what was taking so long, was told, "We threw the order out because you didn't answer when we called your name. It's a tiny place; the staff could see us waiting for food with no problem. My 1st issue is how do you throw away $29 paid worth of food? Is it because the store already had our money but didn't care about us My? My 2nd issue issue is they couldn't look to see that we were waiting for our food? Today, stopped in my with family for lunch. Ticket 902. The experience began with a customer in front of me getting over charged and when requesting an adjustment the staff member stated "we cannot make changes after the order is paid for." That tells me she has no training and is not familiar with a void transaction. After she proceeded to be combative she offered him a cookie and additional smoothie and did not ring them in. While waiting for my food, the list of sanitary concerns among the staff kept growing. 1) Employee prepped a Thai wrap with peanut sauce and allergen Ingredients and did not wash hands or change gloves prior to moving onto other items. 2) Nobody on smoothie station was using gloves, washing hands especially after touching credit cards and cash when working the register, so they were touching tools and putting their exposed hands into the ice bin, not to mention the blender lids were not being washed between orders. 3) A team member showed up for his shift and after putting his stuff in the back he jumped right in to help make orders and did not wash his hands. Not to mention there were 5 people working. The lack of health control and Serv safe is obvious and nobody could tell who was running the place. I am a huge Tropical Smoothie fan and will only be going to Crystal Lake location moving forward. read more
