I was excited because this smoothie place recently opened up right by my parent's house. I went to check it out and ordered the orange ginger glow smoothie and was thorougly dissapointed. Unfortuantely, it is basically shaved ice with the artificial flavoring of ginger and orange. I think they use some natural ingredients but it tastes very artificial and way too sweet. The reason I gave this place such a low rating is because it took me 40 minutes to get my smoothie. Granted they had recently opened but they only had 2 workers and people were waiting forever for their smoothies/food. Would recommend ordering ahead via phone/app so you don't have to wait a long time in the store. Probably won't come back to this place, but hopefully the service/quality of food gets better

Great smoothies and they are currently doing curbside pickup. They also have an app and advance ordering is super easy.

Stopped at Pronto Italian Sandwiches in Des Plaines on my way to the Donald E. Stephens Convention…read moreCenter and it was such a great find. I ordered The Brando (their Italian sandwich) and it was fantastic. The Calabrian chili aioli completely made the sandwich, I'd never had it before and now I'm officially a fan. The place itself has a cool old school Italian deli feel with plaid tablecloths, and the staff told me they just opened in June 2025. I grabbed mine to go since I was working the convention center, but it looked like a cozy spot to sit down too. It's a little hidden, but totally worth seeking out. Definitely one of those spots I'll stop at again when I'm in the area.

Inside you order at the counter and they bring out your food. It was pretty empty when we got there and there is plenty of seating space. The staff were very helpful with ordering and offered suggestions when asked. I got the soup of the day and the Scorsese, Jeremy C got the Brando. These sandwiches were HUGE. I had a regular and I still had enough to save a little for later. Sandwich was hefty had a good chunk of meat and toppings and the flavors! *Chef's kiss*. Loved the food! Definitely worth it!

There's also discrepancy in their menu and what they actually have available as it seems they also display items for the the cafe next door. We happened to arrive during happy hour so some menu items were discounted. They also have a complimentary salad bar. We ordered chicken karaage, potstickers, salmon avocado sushi, and I had the katsu sandwich. All the food items we ordered came separately over a span of 20+ minutes, with the sandwich arriving last and cold. Not only did the sandwich come on a cold sourdough bread, the meat also had an unusual texture and so I ended up throwing it out. The other items we ordered were lacking in flavor. The chicken karaage was prepared well but it had no flavor. I'm regret spending money at this establishment.

If customers are waiting before the restaurant opens, you know that you are in for a treat, right?…read moreI mean, this was our first time to Uma Japan Eatery (didn't know it was formerly Ramen USA) and we were a little confused when we arrived because there was signage for Uma, Ramen USA, and M Cafe. So we got out of the car and saw someone pull up in front of the restaurant and jump out at 11:59. As soon as the door was unlocked at 12pm, this customer went in, and a few others after them. This is a small joint, and it was already half full by the time we ordered, then sat down (they told us the table at which to sit). I didn't know, but asked, and found out that a salad bar and miso soup are also included. The salad bar was pretty decent, with fresh vegs. They even had French fried onions (my guilty pleasure) and a very good House dressing (ginger vinaigrette). The portions are enormous. The couple next to us got ramen, and it was practically overflowing. We ordered takoyaki (too much food, we didn't need). I had the Pork Katsu bowl and my companion had a Katsu curry. I wished I had ordered the curry -- it looked dark and rich and thick like pudding (not like a boxed curry). They also gave us a bonus piece of chicken karaage which was so large and crispy. I think I'll get the curry next time, or the ramen. We originally came because we were going to get a karaage sando, but get the curry.

It came as a great recommendation! We didn't have it for a while since we live the low-carb life but were thrilled to learn they do a "sub in a tub". I love their tuna salad/sub. Their bread is soft, back when I could eat it. They don't overfill it with mayo either and add some mild peppers or hot on request. I like that they don't have onions at the deli so it doesn't overpower everything else. My husband typically loves the club. They rolled a generous amount into a container and I used scissors to quickly and easily cut it. It was a perfect lunch and I have enough for another tomorrow! For $8, or $11 for a generous tuna scoop, you can't beat it. Staff is also quick and friendly at the deli, as well as checkout. You can find all kinds of things for the house or to gift someone whether it's food, a cookie jar, something imported from Italy, or a homemade meal. You'll find something for everyone.
