I came here years ago to get my eyebrows threaded and brought my 18 year old daughter here for the first time to get her eyebrows shaped (brought my mum with who sweetly did the same with me years ago on a family trip in Delhi). The older lady who did them was so patient following my mum (both speaking in Hindi) and went slowly to be gentle. We wanted to make sure she didn't go too thin and she didn't leaving her eyebrows thick giving a beautiful shape. It is well worth the 30 minute drive to come here. read more

I don't usually write reviews but for this place I had to. The older lady that works there is very rude. I walked in she greets me but continues to look down to finish her sewing while I just stand there for few minutes waiting to be hold to sit. And that's when there's just me and her in the place. She is so rough with the thread and cut me on my eyebrows and upper lip. I ask her to take out couple hairs on my eyebrow and she get frustrated. After I get into my car my upper lip had missed spots I go back in and she's agitated because I came back in. Just very over all very bad service and the place is just unclean! Very good price for threading. If you go during a busy time for the first time, it is confusing since there isn't a waitlist to sign in at. You kinda have to keep track of who was there before you. Had to change my rating... the lady here messed up my eye brows. I've always gone here, to the same lady, the main lady. I came here today, but she was not there and was told that she wouldn't be. I decided to go with the "blonde" lady, Don't get me wrong, she was really really nice, but she did not do anything I asked of her. I was really nice about it too. Told her I just wanted a "CLEAN", wanted to keep the shape of my eyebrows, and DID NOT want my eyebrows to be any thinner. I allowed my eyebrows to grow out a month prior for these reasons. I have a wedding tomorrow and one next week, so I was excited for my new brows. She took a little while, so I thought she was perfecting my eyebrows. She gave me the mirror and I almost fell out the seat. I literally wanted to cry -- my eyebrows looked horrible! Everything I asked of her, she DID NOT do. She went beyond just "cleaning" my eyebrows, to changing the freaking shape, and making them THINNER! They're so ugly. And what makes it worse, I don't know how I'm supposed to fix this. I don't wear makeup, so I was a bit ticked off. Although I did not want to pay her, I did and pointed it how horrible my eyebrows were. SHE DID NOT SEE IT, and it made me even angrier, but I kept my cool. I have to wear these brows until they grow out, and even worse I have to show up to both weddings with these eyebrows. I'm so upset, but now I know, I will not be going back there. Ever. Sorry, rants over. I've learned my lesson, stick to who you know. read more

I give this place 2 stars because my eyebrows look fabulous. But if you look at the other reviews you'll notice most of these people are NOT INDIAN and may not understand what these women must be saying while threading their eyebrows. I am indian, but don't look like it or sound like it. But I am fluent in punjabi and hindi. I am familiar with the saying "3 strikes and you're out". I like giving places more than one chance before I give them a review, and the staff of khoobsurat achieved those 3 strikes effortlessly. I don't want to seem racist or accuse anyone of any racist behavior. Commenting on how short my shorts are when you don't even know that it's my uniform from my life-guarding job.. Is strike one. Wondering if I have lots of boyfriends or not--- strike two. And then literally fighting in front of me on who doesn't do my eyebrows "your turn" "no it's your turn" --- strike 2 1/2 ...AND THEN... Telling me to wait 2 minutes so you can finish gossiping with your coworkers when you are sitting right behind me..STRIKE 3 YOU ARE OUT. I understood everything they talked about. I wanted to leave saying something in punjabi so they know I'm not some clueless American girl. They smile, they are gentle. They will tell you you're pretty but when they're speaking in their language, there ain't nothing G or PG rated on what they're sayin. About you. About anything. And they just don't want to work. No offense, but these ladies need to stay at home and drink their cha and gossip there. Not at work when your sign says open and there's no "lunch break" or --sorry..."cha and gossiping break" sign. As soon as you walk in, I promise 2 of the ladies will look at you from your feet and move up to your face and THEN ask how may they help you... Have fun with your experiment. Just when I thought they set the bar, they've convinced me that I should never get my eyebrows done anywhere else ever again! I just went through two straight weeks of stress from moving from my last apartment to my first home. And I don't know what you ladies go through, but moving really takes a toll on your routine habits. For instance, I used to be a regular workout junkie and now I elusively avoid going anywhere near my scale since I've had to temporarily drop my regular workout to pack and move my things from one place to another. And if the most likely (yet unconfirmed) weight gain wasn't enough, I also stopped taking care of myself, including my appearance. I've been running errands between the house and the hardware stores to get what I need, but finally found some time to stop by real quickly at Khoobsurat in hopes that I can get my eyebrows done. But as soon as I sat in the chair, I realized I left my wallet at home! I was so embarrassed. The lady seated me quickly, too, and I told her that I actually should go and I'd be right back when I returned with my wallet, but she told me not to worry. Maybe she just saw me and thought I was in dire need of some threading for maintenance or maybe she was just being nice, but she actually cleaned my face up free of charge - eyebrows AND lip! And again...my face has never felt so clean!!! I felt it was very nice of her to do what she did. Now, I'm not saying go and walk-in and pull the same crap I did in hopes that you can get services done for free because what I did was totally unintentional (and I also intend to pay them back the next time I come back in!), but this gesture made me feel like these women really love the business they do. This little room goes to show you that eyebrow places don't need fancy schmancy decorations, sky-high prices and a million other services when you want one thing and one thing only: beautifully shaped brows for a kick arse price. Still $6 and finished under 10 minutes, the economy hasn't hurt these lovely ladies yet. The eyebrow threader and I joked that the fast food-like appearances of eyebrow threading kiosks popping up in local malls feel like an infestation and a crappy one at that. I had mine done at a kiosk in Northgate Mall and I swear my eyebrows were crooked but the girl insisted that I was just imagining things. Um. No. My face. I know when something's off! OMG, how can people give this place 5 stars?!?!? I went here a couple days before my engagement photo shoot for the first tiem, to get my eyebrows threaded. The ladies that worked there were very rude and when they were threading my eyebrows, made me hold onto my eyeball with force, which is not possible and I was wearing contacts. Not only that, my eyebrows were burning, because the lady pulled each hair one at a time. Normally, its a smoothe pull and pretty much painless. Along with the burning, the skin where my eyebrow hair once was, was bleeding. Yes, they made me bleed. I WILL NEVER COME BACK HERE AGAIN! The only reason I tried them out because of all the good reviews. I don't know how anyone could ever give them a great review. Just to validate my credibility, I have been getting my eyebrows threaded since I was thirteen and have gotten them threaded by my mothers friends, beauty salons in India and in Florida. My cousin showed me this place years ago and I love it! I can't stand the aftermath of my face being red for hours after waxing. So once I started threading I was hooked! When you first get here, some times they'll have you write your name down on a sheet and specify if you are a new or old customer. Then you take a seat and wait your turn, if there are other people waiting just remember who was there before you so you know when to go. Once it's your turn you'll sit in the chair and they'll start with your eyebrows, and also ask you if you'll like your upper lip done too. They wipe a little bit of talcum powder/baby powder on your skin before they start trimming and threading. Threading doesn't hurt more than tweezing, though it's not as quick as waxing, it's a good alternative if waxing irritates your skin and it seems like these ladies give you a more natural brow shape. read more

You cannot beat $6 for eyebrows and $3 for upper lip, but you definitely get what you pay for. Employees are not rude, but they're also not necessarily friendly. The person who worked on me was fairly rough with the thread compared to what I've experienced at other places. I just needed a clean up for eyebrows, so no shaping necessary, but the attention to detail was lacking. I was tweezing some stray hairs when I got home. However, she did a good job with my upper lip. I'd maybe go back for lip threading since $3 is a steal, and I personally hate tweezing it myself, but I'm on the fence about returning for brows. $9 total is definitely an unbeatable price, but don't expect anything more than $9 worth of service. read more

I've seen signs for "threading" but never really knew what it was. Here's the gist of it; they use thread in a criss-cross fashion to pluck out facial hair. This place is inexpensive and the service is fast! After my visit, I think that threading eyebrows is just as painful as waxing (maybe even less). Want the fuzz off your face fast? You're in the right place! After checking yelp for a threading place when I relocated here a few months I decided to try out Khoobsurat. Totally glad I did. Legit Middle Eastern threading place, zero frills, every time I have gone I have been able to get in, defuzzed and out in 10 minutes or less. You're not going to get fancy face potions or background music or armside chatter, just straight up hair removal that won't make your skin freak out like waxing and won't make your wallet freak out either. I generally get just my upper lip done, and it's only $3. They always hand you a mirror to check when they are done to make sure you're satisfied. Some reviewers have noted that the threaders don't always wipe away all the threaded-out hair when they are done, to that I say SERIOUSLY? For $3 you are going to complain that you had to wipe your face once? Come on. I generally end up going midweek in early afternoons and haven't ever had to wait, so if you are looking for a walk-in with no wait, that's the time to do it. read more

After seeing all these great reviews, I was excited to make an appointment. I called in advance because their hours are not listed on their website (And their prices at check out were also inconsistent with those listed on the website - although they were less expensive than I was expecting, so it's truly not THAT disappointing.) to see if I could come in for an eyebrow threading and arm wax. I came in at the agreed time and the staff was sitting talking amongst themselves and took several minutes to even acknowledge my presence. They sat me down and did my eyebrows. She was quick and did a great job, but was short and rude with conversation and directing me to hold the skin around my eyes. When they finished, they left my removed brows all over my face. However, my brows do look very nice. She then led me to check out, and I asked again if I could get my arms done. The woman rudely said "she is not here now, you'll have to come back another time." If I had known this, I would not have wasted the gas or the time to go there. Furthermore, I do not know why this was inconsistent with what they told me on the phone. Absolutely love this place. I started going here after a couple of friends recommended to me. I have very fair skin that normally stays red for approx. 5 hours after waxing. Threading is so quick and easy and the skin redness only lasts approx 1 hour because they are not putting hot wax on your face. I always go when Pammie is working because she is the best! I was referred to this place by a Victoria's Secret employee when my aunt asked her where she got her brows done. I had never had my eyebrows threaded before, but I have waxed. I requested the owner and she did a wonderful job. She keeps your brow pretty thick as in width up-and-down (if they are naturally thick like mine) but she thins them out as well in the middle of the brow so it's not so bushy. I also had my upper lip done. It hurt quite a bit but didn't take her long at all. I was hoping I wouldn't get as red as I do with waxing, which I did, but I didn't get the irritation and bumps I do from waxing. $6 for brow and $2 for lip. You can't beat it! read more

They are quick, efficient and cheap. To get just your eyebrows done it is $6 which other places is $10-15. I've never waited for more than a few minutes. They also do a very good job. Some of the ladies do go kind of thin for my taste but if you tell them you want them a little thicker than they normally do, it usually turns out fine. Telling them something about shape doesn't really tell them you want them thick. It's definitely not painless (they are still pulling hair out) but my skin is too sensitive for waxing (it breaks out after like crazy). The stylist was right on time, and waited patiently for me (I was a little late because of traffic ): ) I forgot her name but she was so sweet, kind, patient and really funny. For my first time getting braids professionally done, she let me know it would be uncomfortable because she would have to do a lot of tugging and that if I felt uncomfortable she would stop (she didn't though, she was gentle!) I've gone to other salons that cost an arm and a leg and the service / styles are mediocre. This salon is the complete opposite and I'm in love!
